Hi Chris I had seen. The name Louisa on the will but hadn’t thought it could have been a second marriage.
I must say I have been trying for sometime to find this information and in just a few hours I have answers many thanks to all these people help.

Thank you Maddie it does look as if Robert is the father.I noticed on Roberts baptism father down asJohn Walmsley could that have been a mistake and Walmsley being mothers surname .

Yes I think we are talking about the same person in Charlotte Row .I think he was married to Elizabeth but can’t find a married anywhere or her surname.
Edward was his son a furrier by trade .
Robert perhaps could be his father thought on census James is down as be born in surrey but that doesn’t mean a thing .Tower hamlets is possibly as it’s not that far away from Bermondsey.

If not, are you aware that ages of people over the age of 15 were rounded down to the nearest 5 on the 1841 Census (and only on that census)?

If James' age was round down, it means that he could have been between 71 and 74 .............. or born between ca 1765 and 1770.
