You will need the marriage cert to confirm probably, as not seeing a marriage record that gives parents on FMP, might be one elsewhere though.

I think Waltham comes under Canterbury RD and I don't see a birth registered there for her. Of course, there was no penalty for not registering a birth at that time.

As has been said, you really need a copy of the marriage certificate to see who she names as her father. No point in following the wrong line.

At that time Waltham came under Bridge Registration District and I can't see a birth registered there.

As Nyx has already said you need to buy the marriage certificate to get her father's name.

rootgatherer - my knowledge of registration districts is no better than yours. I just use Google a lot. Google - "Registration district for Waltham" and Bridge comes up. Created 1837 and abolished in 1974 (to become part of CanterburyRegistration District).

You can do that for anywhere in the country.

Elmsted is Elham, Waltham is Bridge (1901 and 1911 census).
Need that marriage certificate for sure.
Its one that'll be left unanswered.
