The paperwork above shows a Regimental board held ?in Fermoy(Ireland) 23 august 1858 to verify Service, conduct etc prior to his discharge.
It records his Trade as Lace Maker born Loughborough, attested at Garendon, Leics.
Served 21 years 215 days including abroad - West Indies for 3 year 2 months, America ? length and ? where 8 months
Discharged as found unfit for further service.
Awful handwriting - seems to have been generally of good character BUT there are 19 entries against his name in the Regimental Defaulters book. (No doubt why he was a Private after all those years - either still Private or he had progressed but punished and lost rank)

Wow. This is fantastic I will take some time to look through it at the weekend. Thank you so much. Fanny is still a complete mystery. I have found her on GRO using the DOB on the census - with her mother maiden name being Jeffries, however I then can’t find her dying. Hopefully this will all make more sense. I have a lovely photo of the Cresswell’s which I will add somewhere
