Does anyone know of a quick way to find out when someone died? I've been asked to find out my great grandmothers date of death by Thursday. I know the year she died but not the exact date.

Her name is Olive Annie Clarke nee Connelly she was born in 1907 in Mountain Ash and died in 1980 in Hertfordshire.

JFM QTR

THe exact date will be on the cert, but you couldn’t get that in time without spending a lot on express postage

You could try the local paper to see if there was a notice.

She may have left a Will, but there won’t be a record if it didn’t go to Probate

Thank you both for looking. I’ll need to think of something else to get it. Olive pre deceased her husband so everything would have passed to him so not sure what I can find.

You might be able to get the certificate if you pay extra?
Priority Service cost £23.40 & will be dispatched the day after its ordered. Ordering now [ Mon 5 Nov] would count as Tuesday. Dispatched Wednesday by first class post & hope that it arrives in time.

Have you got any idea where she was cremated/buried? The Parks & Cemeteries dept for the council might be able to quickly look up the burial register. Most will list the date & place of death.

Don't know if this will help

Thank you all. I don’t know where Olive was cremated but my mum will as it’s the same place Olive’s husband and a few of her children were cremated.

Maylon, Olive had 8 children and 6 of them saw adulthood. One of Olive’s children died on Wednesday October 31st. It is my mum who was querying her grandparents deaths. I don’t know why such a short timeframe though as I was only asked yesterday. I’ll say to her if she contacts the crematorium they may be able to tell her.

Is there a bit of Tough Love going on here? ;-)

Perhaps she’s intending to go to the planned funeral? If not, could she have been asked by someone who is? I can’t see why anyone would need to know the exact date of death even if the intention is to include it in an eulogy. :-S
