Wrong name on GRO records

I am checking the family tree for a neighbour and she said could not find birth records for a Florence Wreford born 1878 Crediton, when you look at Freebmd it shows it as that name with the 5b 402 but when you look at GRO you cannot find it but when you check different spellings, the two boxes next to the surname it comes up with Florence Wilford born 1878 Crediton. Could it be a wrong transcription and if you agree how can I notify GRO. Thanks for any information.Sheila

Freebmd original certainly shows Wreford


If you look at the GRO page where it's giving you the birth registration details, there is this written at the bottom of the page -

"Noticed a problem with a record in the GRO indexes?
You can report it to GRO (this is underlined) and help us improve etc"

click on "you can report it" and follow the instructions
