Hi,
Does anyone have a means of accessing the 1911 census records by typing in an actual address rather than a person's name?. I would like to discover who lived at 13 Quarry Street Leamington Spa in 1911 and even earlier if possible.. I'm not sure when the street was actually built so it might not have been in existence in 1891/1901.
Many thanks, Ian Crichton

Many thanks,
A big help. I notice that Walter and Emily are married in 1901. Are you able to see if they are still at the same address?
Cheers, Ian

Thanks again,
I suppose Quarry Street might not have been built in 1901 but I have no means of confirming that. I suppose there is no way of checking addresses before the 1911 census. Ian.

You can check addresses on all censuses exept the 1841 one.
But not on GR ............ you have to use one of the other sites, such as FindMyPast (the sister site of GR), Ancestry, etc.
FamilySearch has some censuses, and that is free.
I just looked for Walter Brown and family, using Ancestry, and discovered that they weren't at Quarry Street.
Is it the family or the house that you are most interested in??

Thanks,
No it is the house I'm interested in. I have used Ancestry and Family search but I haven't any access to Find My past and that seems to be the only one that gives addresses. I think it also uses the 1939 registration and I wonder who was at 13 Quarry Street then.
Cheers, Ian

Ian .............
all censuses have the addresses, but you have to open the image of the census to see it. The transcripts usually do not show the address .......... only the 1911 and (I think) the 1881 have the address transcribed.

1939 is on Ancestry
To find the address in 1911 on FMP I had to scroll through countless images, which I would imagine can be done on Ancestry, in exactly the same way, by inputting the name of the town, and the street in the relevant search boxes

Ancestry 1881 has the addy - you can put the street in the keyword. Use the 1881 search form: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/collections/7572/ (If it's not England, pick one out at: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/categories/ukicen/ ) Make sure the exact matches box is checked It saves a lot of clutter if you just search for heads of households.
If you've got a sub, you can click on the image, and page thru adjacent sheets. If you've no sub, then note he piece/folio/page of an addy of interest, enter these in the search, and clear out all other search terms (except maybe head of h/h) and search for that and you can see all the names (alt heads) on that page. To turn to an adjacent page adjust the page number - if that gets no hits, then also adjust the folio number Actually, I usually drop the page number, and just use piece and folio (with head), and get the 2 pages in the folio at once

To search the census by address on FMP
Go to A-Z index of record sets
Put the year of the census you want into the search box, eg 1901
When the results come up, click on 1901 census
Near the top of the search screen that comes up, is the option to search for either a person or an address.
Toggle on to search for address
Imput location and street name.
You then get taken to the results for that street, so you can work through them if they are not numbered. 1901 was.
Saves trawling through pages of images.
