please can someone instruct me how to transfer data from someone else'sTree (with permission of course

Years ago, you used to be able to copy to a clipboard on the GR site, and then paste the details in your own tree - I remember doing it.

There are various old threads about it - google "genesreunited clipboard".
The clipboard seems to have been discontinued roughly 8 or 9 years ago

Unfortunately, I think you'll just have to enter it all manually from scratch.

This site is merely 'ticking over' No 'new' work is being done.

Anyway, taking info from someone else's tree may not be a good idea, unless you know that their info is 100% accurate and backed up by dcumentary evidence.

Much better to do the research yourself and trust your own judgement.
