Can anybody help find who lived in Steel Street Liverpool in the 1911 census. Iam trying to trace a Michael Prendergast aged 29/30yrs, who was shot during the 1911 Transport strike in liverpool, according to an article he was living in Steel Street with his wife (no name given) in 1911, though i cant see him listed in any area of Liverpool.

ErikaH Thank you for your help I see the spelling was out, i will now be able to see if he is part of my family. Sadly this man was shot dead by soldiers during the 1911 Transport Strike.

In the case of Michael Prendergast, Henry Edward King, a railway goods porter of 37 Steel Street, said the deceased was his brother-in-law, aged twenty nine. He was a dock labourer and lived with witness. He was single, steady, and healthy. On Tuesday afternoon he left home in his usual health. etc

I was going to ask how the census showed up for you, i used Ancestry with no luck, maybe as i see you use FMP they allow for mistakes in spelling.

Michael was listed on records about his shooting as living in Steel St, i presume he didn't marry between the census and his death in August 1911. There is a memorial plaque to him and the other young man who was killed by soldiers near Vauxhall road Liverpool.
