Welcome to the boards, Susan.

It depends on which country you're talking about.

If England of Wales, always order through the GRO site:
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp

Info on that site about prices:
https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/faq.asp

If it's a Scottish cert you want, you would normally order through Scotlands People:
https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
However, because of the coronavirus situation, it's not possible to order a copy at the moment. If it were, it would cost £12. That's for a relatively recent cert.

For Scottish birth certs before 1920, marriages before 1946, and deaths before 1971, you can view an image of the original cert if you buy credits on the site.
Minimum purchase 30 credits for £7.50. It costs 6 credits to view a cert, and print it if wished.

Which website?

And which certs? And for when?

You can download PDF’s of births and deaths for certain years from the GRO site for a lower charge

They, being the GRO? It is £11 for a full certificate.

How much are they charging for certificates these days? The website only mentions ways of paying, not how much.
