I am searching for John Meskell /Miskell
from county Galway Ireland, I am guessing he was born about 1780s,
he had a son also john who came to Australia as a convict, john was born 1808/9
any help appreciated ,

He's on a lot of trees on Ancestry.
A few of them say his father's name was John - but none offer any proof.

Have you found any documentary evidence of his father's name?


The trees say John junior's wife was Ellen Moylan 1832-95 - but with no date or proof of marriage.
A marriage cert would have given his father's name.

EDIT:
A few say they married in 1858 in Morpeth, NSW, without offering proof.
The only marriage I can see gives the bride's surname as Daily - so maybe not the correct marriage - as is too often the case on people's trees;
