I have known all manner of mistakes on certificates, but the man may have used a different name, at that time. |

The certificate I received (11 years ago!) gives my 2nd Great Grandfather's name as George Dunn - Chainmaker - but all subsequent research strongly suggests that he was Joseph Dunn - Chainmaker. The certificate was issued in 1843 and both participants were widowed. Has anyone experience or knowledge of names being incorrectly entered during that period? I have sent a query off to the GRO but don't hold up much hope of them resolving the matter. |
