Hi Charles - re George Scothern. Yes I have found him in the census. In 51 his mother is Martha but 61 she is Ann. He married Elizabeth Turner Oct 30th 1864 and his age is 20. The only entry I can find around the right time is George Hill Scottam 1844 district Basford. I think his mother was Anne Hill, but the mother in 51 being Martha is confusing. In all the census he was born in Kirkby in Ashfield and married there as well. Thankyou for looking for me. Carole xx |

Please would you look for the birth of George Scothern. He was born around 1844-5 in Kirkby in Ashfield. I'm trying to clarify his mother, she was either Ann or Martha, his father was William Scothern. I've found an entry on FreeBMD for a George Scottam and wonder if this could be him. ___________________________________________________ Unfortunately, I cannot see this individual. Have you found him on the census and is there any more info you can send me? |

Please could you look for a baptism for Joseph Butler/Buttler, around 1834. In census returns his place of birth is given as (1) Nottingham and (2) Besson. I don't know the area, so am not sure whether Besson is a place or if it might possibly be Beeston. __________________________________________________ There is a Joseph BUTLER born in Beeston on 30/6/1834 and baptised on 27/7/1834. Father is listed as Joseph and mother as Anne. Father's profession is 'Twist' (I have no idea what that is). There is another Joseph Butler born in the same year but in East Retford. |

Looking for the parents of a Jane Dawson - I believe she was born about 1811 at Dunham in Nottinghamshire (she married a William Hiles in 1839). Thank You. Also anything on the parents of a Hannah Cobb - I believe Hannah was born in 1822 at Everton, Nottinghamshire, to a John & Mary Cobb but do not know anything about her parents so if you could have a look for her parents marriage, etc, that would be great (Hannah married a George Barthorpe in 1840) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have two possible marriages for a John COBB. 1) to Mary GIRDON on 13/1/1806 2) to Mary SELBY on 27/11/1809 Both are at Everton. Siblings may include: Susan COBB baptised on 6/2/1813 Hannah COBB baptised on 6/2/1813 Thomas COBB baptised on 10/8/1816 Unfortunately, I could not find Jane Dawson |

Hello Charles I don't know if you can offer any help with this far back but I am trying to find any information for Rev. John Savage and his son Thomas, both of whom were Rectors at St. Michaels Church Sutton Bonington Nottinghamshire. John was born about 1557 and we believe married Elizabeth Wilton!, and Thomas in 1595 (don't know if he married). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is a baptism for Thomas SAVAGE on 2/2/1590 at Southwell St Mary (Minster). Father listed as John but no mother listed. I did a search in the time period for SAVAGE with father John and also found: Thomas Savage (2/8/1584) and John Savage (5/1/1587). Again no mother is listed. I only find two marriages for a John SAVAGE in the time period. 1) to Issabel BADGER on 14/12/1577 and 2) to Margaret GOODALe on 20/11/1581. All are at Southwell St. Mary (minster). Hope this helps. |

Joseph Kitchen born in Notts around 1750. Sarah Duffin born in Notts around 1750. Joseph and Sarah married in Wellow, Notts in 1777 and their first child was born in Kirton in 1778. If you can find any birth/baptism details for them, I would be very grateful. Vicky ___________________________________________________ I have found a Joseph KITCHIN baptised at Mansfield St. Peter on 26/9/1749. Parents are William and Mary. I don't see a baptism for Sarah. The nearest I can get for their children are: Elizabeth, baptised 7/7/1778 at Gedling All Hallows Elizabeth, baptised 25/10/1779 also at Gedling All Hallows Mary, baptised 26/12/1781 at Gedling All Hallows. In these baptisms, the father is listed as JNO KITCHIN and the mother as SARAH. However, there is also a John Kitchin married to a Sarah so there could be some confusion there. I have also found their marriage in Wellow. |
