Ive googled til Im googled out and what often looks promising to start ends up dead ends. Does anyone know if there are any parish records on line for Deptford (when Kent) - pay to view or otherwise - looking for a baptism c1771 and marriage c1791. Many thanks

Hi Heather. Not that i know of online .the parish records are probably at the LMA. My paternal grandmothers family all came from Deptford/Southwark And i found parish records at LMA for the Southwark marriages

Have you looked on the Hugh Wallis site? There are some there but the dates you want are probably at the LMA. Janice

Have you tried the Parish Records on the Internet thread on this board? If there's nothing there, I suggest trying the North West Kent Family History Society. http://www.nwkfhs.org.uk/projects.htm

If Gillian was looking for Thames Watermen it would be the Dockland Ancestors site - or parishregister - unfortunately they only have baptisms on there (Ive used them many a time and well worth the small fee) and not this early. In fact I dont think they have Deptford as yet but they have some Rotherhithe. Oh well, thought it was worth a try. Will carry on googling just in case something comes up. Thanks guys.

In case you haven't already seen it, I found some references to Deptford parish registers when I was looking at the Lewisham site today: http://makeashorterlink*com/?P3F921B6D

It gets very wide if you put in something very wide without a break. In this case, one of the URLs is very long - if the poster (I rather think it's that intriguing one from Mary of Italy) puts a Return in the middle, the thread should return to normal. Christine

There might well be some Deptford PRs on the Medway City Ark site. The address (replace the *s with . ) is: http://cityark*medway*gov*uk/ Christina

Sorry, I've fixed that link - I hadn't noticed, because it doesn't stretch the page with Opera. I don't think the Medway archives have Deptford - I seem to remember I've already looked.

This is a VERY old thread, dating back to 2006, when LDS did not have as many records as they now do.
