Julie I have had this problem with my Italian ancestors marrying cousins over more than one generation. GC support tell me that it is not currently possible to link the same individual so they only appear once in your tree. The individuals concerned need to be duplicated. On a positive note, GC Support say that they will be looking into this particular area shortly to see if they can find a way around the problem. Fingers crossed!! David |

Hi Julie, This is one of the short falls of the GC program, and this is why a lot of us have HAD to load our trees from gedcom files. Once a person appears in your tree, you cannot 'marry' them to someone else already in the tree. Like you say you can only enter one of the names again, but then shows as a 'new' person, and doesn't show the true link in the family. I have, at present, 4 instances of this. Each time I have to delete the tree, and reload the gedcom file. This gives you the added chore of manually entering all the bits GC doesn't pick up, baptism dates instead of birth years etc. Debbie |
