Barnardos have a good aftercare service, it might be worth getting in touch with them to find out if they have his records... Think he would have to request them himself. My mum is an ex-barnardos kid and she found all kinds of info in the file. She had a caseworker who tried to help her find her father but they didn't have any luck. (That's actually how I got into genealogy). |

According to Benjamin's War Pensions Records (on Ancestry) he was born 1890 at Gt. Bridge, Staffordshire and his permanent address was 78 Cheshire Road, Smithwick, Staffs. |
