Not such a good day really for us yesterday. We got to church but had to leave before the service started... :-( The family came round for lunch which was lovely.

For today:

Lord, thank you for walking with us through the seasons of our lives.

For the winter, when we are held safe in your arms through the darkness.

For the hope of spring, as we are filled with new promise and life.

For summer time, full of warmth and colour

And for autumn days as leaves fall to seed new growth.

Remembering those in need of prayer Cx :-)

Disappointing for you and your OH that you had to return home before the service yesterday Cynthia. I hope today will be the start of a better week for him.

I expect he enjoyed the family lunch. There is something very "right" about sharing a meal with family. My granddaughter was 18 on Friday and when her parents asked her how she would like to celebrate she chose a family meal. This took place yesterday and was a lovely occasion.

Thinking of all in need of support today and saying a quiet "thank you" that a particularly difficult issue in my own family is gradually being resolved.

That is better news Cynthia. A day at a time is all any of us can do, especially with ongoing poor health conditions. It's good that your hubby was able to get his hair cut and is all tidied up and smart once again now.

I have taken what seemed like forever this morning to simply thread a needle. Good job that I have endless patience. I am guilty of taking my eyesight for granted.

A prayer to St Lucy (Patron Saint of Eyes)

Saint Lucy, whose beautiful name signifies light.
By the light of faith which God bestowed upon you
increase and preserve His light in my soul

be zealous in the performance of good works
and abhor nothing so much as the blindness and
the darkness of evil and sin.
Obtain for me, by your intercession with God,

Saint Lucy was born into a rich noble Roman family. At a very young age Lucy lost her Father who was a Christian man. This left Lucy with a huge dowry. Her Mother wanted her to marry a Pagan man and she refused, instructing her Mother to distribute her wealthy dowry to the poor people, but her Mother would not agree.
Lucy was known for her beautiful eyes. It was said that her eyes radiated
her love for Jesus.
Lucy's Mother became very ill and was healed with prayers. She was convinced it was a miraculous healing and agreed to comply with her daughter's request and distributed Lucy's dowry amongst the poor.
The Pagan man who had proposed to Lucy was furious when he heard this news. He decided to destroy Lucy's life. Lucy was tortured to death and she
died as a martyr in Sicily, because of her Christian faith. During the torture, Lucy's eyes were gouged out, but God restored her eyes and that was the reason St Lucy became the Patron Saint for people who are blind or who have eye problems.
As with all Saints' lives this is another fascinating tale I think.

"Where there is no vision, people perish" Proverbs 29:v 18.

Thinking today how fed up I am of having nothing
but rain for the whole of June and how cold it has
been.
We always moan about the weather, it's too hot or
it's too cold, never happy.
So thought I'd share this as I am grateful for our
changeable weather. (sometimes)

When yesterday is a disappointment,
and today isn't better,
remember that there is always a tomorrow,
and make it something to look forward to
AND SMILE. x

The weather is very disappointing at the moment isn't it? Whatever happened to 'Flaming June'?


Husband's condition is up and down at the moment and our son, who doesn't work too far away, is coming over during his lunch break so that I can have an hour's respite.

Our grandson has his 'leaving school prom' on Friday. My word, how grown up he is now..........he will be all 'suited and booted' - a far cry from his usual attire :-D

I know what you mean about the weather Emma. I went on a guided "history walk" in a nearby town on Tuesday and, in spite of several layers, I was very cold. But then we read about places where the temperature is in the 40s or where they haven't had rain for 2 or 3 years and think it isn't so bad here after all.

Cynthia, I do hope your husband's condition stabilises soon. Take the opportunity for respite when you can; caring is hard work.

Giving thanks today for the comparative good health of myself and my husband and thinking of those whose lives are so much more difficult than mine. Also giving thanks for our temperate weather which keeps our country green and our crops growing .
