Good morning everyone :-)

Happy Father's Day to any dads who may be looking in :-D

The Collect (special prayer) for today:

O God, the protector of all who trust in you,
without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy:
increase and multiply upon us your mercy;
that with you as our ruler and guide
we may so pass through things temporal
that we lose not our hold on things eternal;
grant this, heavenly Father,
for our Lord Jesus Christ's sake,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen

In the gospel reading, we hear the story of Jesus casting demons out of a possessed man and into a herd of swine - the pigs then drowned.

Love to all Cx :-)

Hello all

A beautiful sunny day here today. A real blessing indeed on this special Father Day.

"My father didn't tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it."

Wise words indeed written by C.B.Kelland, and I had the very best Dad in the
whole wide world who did just that. I feel blessed and think of him not just especially today, but every single day.

Remembering all who feel sad and have no happy memories of their Fathers today.

Good morning :-)

A lovely service yesterday all ages......from 3 months to those in their eighties..... :-)

Our son and family popped across to see his dad and we spent a very happy couple of hours with much laughter. <3

A couple of weeks ago, the Sermon on the Mount cropped up and I said we could take a look at the Beatitudes soon……so here we go!

To be poor in spirit means an attitude of humbleness and recognizing our dependency upon God. When we are poor in spirit, we have room for God’s spirit to enter our lives.

God, help me realize how poor
I am. Poor at loving, poor at discerning,
poor in wisdom, poor at choosing
obedience, poor in generosity,
poor in seeking You. And so you
come to me. To me. Emmanuel.
With your abundance of all I need.
Thank you. Thank you.

Love, Cx :-)

Hello all

A special day for your husband yesterday...... he would have loved that.

Blessed are the pure in heart
For they shall see our God
The secret of the Lord is theirs
Their soul is Christ's abode.

The Lord who left the sky
Our life and peace to bring;
And dwelt in lowliness with men
Their pattern and their King.

Still to the lowly soul
He doth Himself impart;
And for His cradle and His throne
Chooseth the pure in heart.

This old traditional hymn sprung into my mind immediately.

Remembering all who are in need of prayerful support tonight. xxx

Good morning :-)

Looking forward to visitors later........better find that duster :-D

A look at today’s Beatitude……"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted".

First and foremost it is a statement about those who mourn because of personal sin or failure - they will be comforted by admitting those faults and asking for forgiveness.

Into this then comes those who mourn because of loss of a loved, they will be comforted by the good news of the gospel and those around them.

Lord, we often use the words "Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us". Help us to make these words real in our lives so that we may be able to reach out to comfort others. Amen.

Good morning :-)

Had a lovely time with friends yesterday afternoon an my OH was on top form....until later... but he enjoyed the visit too.

Today we have someone from the Memory team coming so that should be interesting..

Our Beatitude for today "Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

The dictionary defines the work meek as ‘Gentle, enduring injury with patience and without resentment, mild, not violent’.

Being meek is very different from being weak. To be meek is to be gentle and humble. We have to choose to be meek, and that takes great strength of character.

Meekness includes being teachable rather than headstrong, being prepared to follow rather than lead, to do things in God’s way rather than our own, to be obedient rather than self willed.

Father, we struggle with the idea of meekness. We so easily confuse it with weakness. But when we see you living as one of us in Jesus, we see clearly that meekness is nothing like weakness. Jesus was meek, he was humble, yet so strong. Help us to understand greatness and strength as you see it, and to admit that you know best. Amen.

Hello all

Sounds like a very good day for you both yesterday Cynthia.Hope the test goes well.

MEEKNESS AND MAJESTY........... I just LOVE this, worthy of sharing I think.

Meekness and majesty manhood and deity
In perfect harmony the Man who is God
Lord of eternity dwell in humanity
Kneels in humility and washes our feet.

Oh what a mystery, meekness and majesty
Bow down and worship, for this is your God.
This is your God.

The village primary schoolchildren are having a (belated) picnic to celebrate
HM Queen's 90th birthday. Ongoing rain has delayed this happy event.

Praying the sun will shine and all tiny tots will have a happy day today. xxx

Thy love shall chant itself its own beatitudes, after
it's own life working. A child-kiss, set on thy sighing
lips, shall make thee glad; a poor man, served, by thee,
shall make thee rich; a rich man, helped by thee, shall
make thee strong; thou shalt be served thyself by every
sense of service which thou renderest.

Good morning :-)

That was new to me too Emma........interesting. Thank you. x

The memory test actually went very well apparently according to the person who conducted it. When I answered the door, you would have thought I was welcoming in a youngster straight from school - she looked so young. However, it turns out that she is almost 30 and has been doing this job for 8 years.......I must be getting old! We now wait to see if the Consultant thinks anything needs to be done or not.

Moving on through the Beatitudes, we reach the fourth one....:.

”Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled”.

So what exactly IS righteousness?

Righteousness is a lifestyle that distinguishes us as true Christians and invites opposition from the world.

Righteousness starts in the heart and changes a person from the inside out.

Righteousness doesn't need to be seen by others, but only by God.

Righteousness causes us to seek God's approval above everything else.

So, we are to hunger and thirst after a truly Christian lifestyle, one that changes us from the inside out ...one where we no longer seek the praise of men ... but one where we seek God's approval above everything else.

Lord, give us an earnest desire to please you with our thoughts, words and actions in Jesus’ name. Amen.

A good result then about the memory test Cynthia. One less thing to worry about.

The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love.

Good morning :-)

Yesterday brought a visit by the neuro physio. She has been visiting on and off over about 3 years and she has built up a good rapport with my husband. We now have a zimmer with wheels and a new walking stick! The zimmer is just for use when he is on a 'slow one'. It all helps towards independence.

For today:

Day 5 of our look at the Beatitudes.....Mercy.

Mercy is receiving something that we do not deserve.
Jesus is saying to us, blessed are those who show mercy and promises those that do that, that He will show the same mercy to them.

Being Merciful is an action based emotion. You cannot truly be merciful or compassionate to someone, unless you really do something about it.
It is not merely feeling bad about someone’s situation, it is an emotion which prompts one to act on it.

An act of mercy first come from the realization that you yourself have been shown mercy by God.

Prayer:
“Lord, help me to remember the mercy and grace I have received from you, when I struggled to be merciful and kind to others.”

Love to all Cx :-)

Hello all

It is good that your husband is getting the help and support that he needs Cynthia.

Well, the Democratic voting decision is for us to leave the EU. I hope that we can
work together as a nation to make Britian great again in the months and years ahead.

New every morning is the love,
Our waking and uprising proof
Through sleep and darkness safely brought,
Restored to life and power and thought.

New mercies each returning day
Hover around us while we pray.
New perils past, new sins forgiven
New thoughts of God, new hopes of heaven.

God's mercies are new every morning
If you take God at His word, you can
wake up every new morning to a brand new world.
You can live life totally unhindered by the past
(K. Copeland)

Good morning :-)

Such a momentous decision made yesterday, and we ask God's blessing on the future of our country.

Our next Beatitude........Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

The heart is the centre of our personality, the real us who makes the decisions for our lives. So, to be pure in heart is to be pure in the centre of our lives.
To be pure in body is good. To be pure in mind is better. But to be pure in heart is best of all because it includes all the rest. If pure in heart, we will be pure everywhere.

To be pure in heart means being pure from the inside out. Jesus came to change the hearts of we sinners. To be pure in heart means that we are sincere, transparent and without guile. What you see is what you get. No fakery, no trickery, no hypocrisy.

"Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me".

The Collect (special prayer) for today:

Almighty and everlasting God,
by whose Spirit the whole body of the Church is governed and sanctified:
hear our prayer which we offer for all your faithful people,
that in their vocation and ministry they may serve you in holiness and truth
to the glory of your name;
through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,
who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God,
now and for ever.
Amen.

Good morning :-)

In these trouble days, our next to last Beatitude seems fitting.............

Blessed are the Peacemakers, for they shall be called 'the children of God'.

The first way we can be peacemakers is by making peace with God by believing what Jesus did for us on the Cross.

Peacemakers are those who not only live in peace with others, but do their best to preserve peace and friendship on earth and between God and man.

Make me a channel of your peace.
Where there is hatred let me bring your love;
Where there is injury your pardon, Lord;
And where there's doubt true faith in you.
