Good morning :-)

Knowing that we are all ‘spiritual babes’ in one way or another, how do we grow up in the faith? I thought these comments were quite interesting.

We choose to grow by making right choices and, when we make the wrong choices we choose not to grow.

We feel lazy on Sunday mornings and decide to sleep in; we are deciding not to grow.

We go a week without serious attention to the Word of God; we are sentencing ourselves not to grow.

However, there is a way for God’s children to speed up the maturity process, but it isn’t easy. It’s called persecution.

When believers are persecuted for the faith, maybe killed for being a follower of Jesus Christ, the Lord’s people decide in a hurry to what extent they believe in Him, and how important He is to them.

The faithful who persevere in difficult times grow much faster than those who live in safe societies where serving Christ costs them little or nothing. There are easier ways–not to say more survivable ways–to grow in the Lord.

I have looked in every day though I haven’t posted recently. This week’s posts sometimes make uncomfortable reading as some seem to be aimed straight at me. I don’t think I agree with everything that has been written but they have certainly made me think.

Thank you Vera and I quite agree that sometimes the posts make for uncomfortable reading.......and that's how we grow... :-D


Our late beloved vicar's daughter was married this morning and I went to watch. I've also been invited to the evening 'do' so our son is coming over to dadsit whilst I go with daughter. Won't be there long I am sure, but it will make a nice change.


For today :


After looking at ‘spiritual babes’ this last week, what do we see in ‘mature’ Christians….? Just a small sample of what I found.

They follow Jesus’ steps closely.

They look for bible principles that help them to know what is right and what is wrong.

The highs and lows of life don’t impact on their relationship with God.

They understand Christianity doesn’t have an on/off switch.

They work hard to keep the congregation in unity.


Now I need to look for some Christian Baby Bio for myself!


God, show me how to shine for you. Uncover my spiritual gift. Help me to embrace it. Teach me to use it for your glory. Allow it to grow, Lord, so that I may become a worthy vessel. In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

The Collect (special prayer) for today:

God our redeemer,
you have delivered us from the power of darkness
and brought us into the kingdom of your Son:
grant, that as by his death he has recalled us to life,
so by his continual presence in us he may raise us
to eternal joy;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.

The Gospel set for today tells us of Jesus saying…..

“This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you”.


Very quiet wedding yesterday. The bride's parents were sadly missed. <3

After a week of looking at growth in the Christian faith, a week of encouragement now....


Dear Lord, help me remember what a difference it makes when I make time with You a priority in my morning. Awaken me in body and spirit each day with a desire to meet with You and to listen for your word. Amen.

Not read back but I'm saying Amen for your prayer today Cynthia Thank you..

I'm still struggling here with legalities and red tape and finding days/nights difficult.

The sunshine is a bonus for us all after a long cold Winter, this is my prayer today...

Lord, grant me courage as I go through this day. When I am tempted to give up, help me to keep going. Grant me a cheerful spirit when things don't go my way. And give me courage to do whatever needs to be done. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Today is Ascension Day

Forty days after the resurrection, Jesus and His disciples went to Mount Olivet, near Jerusalem. There, Jesus promised His followers that they would soon receive the Holy Spirit, and He instructed them to remain in Jerusalem until the Spirit had come. Then Jesus blessed them, and as He gave the blessing, He began to ascend into heaven. The account of Jesus' ascension is found in Luke 24:50-51 and Acts 1:9-11.


You are free, Lord,
your Ascension has set you free:
free from the constraints of human existence,
outside the limitations of time and space;
free to be here with us now,
in our worship and fellowship;
and free to be with us always;
for in your freedom
you have bound yourself to us with a promise:
“Lo! I am with you always
even to the very end of time.”

So far today I am doing alright,

I have not gossiped,lied or said anything bad about anyone,

I have not been grumpy,nasty,self indulgent or greedy,

I have not been impatient complained or sworn,

I have not even charged anything to my credit card account,
and I have not eaten any chocolates

However,in a few minutes I am going to get up, and

I Will need a lot more help after that

The reading for today is taken from John 17 and is a rather con-voluted conversation between Jesus and his heavenly father as he pleads for our protection from the evil one.

I have been enjoying a short break in Dorset for a few days but wifi connection was intermittent and very slow, so now I am home I am catching up on the last few posts. I love some of this week's verses but can't think of anything appropriate to add. Thank you Cynthia, Kandj, Emma and Elizabeth.

The Legacy

She could not give her children gold -
she gave them faith to have and hold.
