Very well done to your Boys' Brigade Juniors Cynthia. It's lovely to see youngsters achieving in this way.
I have been glued to my iPad most of the day following grandson's progress. He did so well in the individual qualification rounds that he has been "pre-seeded" through to the third round of the eliminations. Also as the highest placed British boy he has been put with the highest placed British girl to represent GB in the mixed team event, and he is also part of the GB male team. I think by the time he gets back he'll have muscles on his muscles :-D. Oh, and he broke a national record as well!
I am proud of J's sporting talent but I give thanks that he has grown into a modest, kind and friendly young man.
Hope the pain killers are working Kandj.
Have a good Tuesday everyone.

Good morning :-)
Its a wonderful experience for your grandson Vera - in so many ways and I agree with you about the youngsters who don't have the opportunity to go further in life. We have an active Boys' Brigade at church and, just recently, the Junior Section have won some sort of competition beating 300 other groups from around the world. Such good experiences for these lads.
Dear kandj, please keep taking the tablets :-D
All of us have so much to be thankful for each day. When we awake to a new day, when a friend is in touch with us, for the food we eat, for the water that flows into our homes, for flowers, birds, trees, our health: the list can go on and on. Thanking God should be part of our daily lives. It is also good to tell God about worries and concerns: about jobs, relationships, family, health, whatever comes to mind. Sharing those thoughts with God will often help to lessen the burdens we carry. Take time -- lots of it -- each day to talk to God in prayer. If you spend time with family members or friends, en-gage them in prayer with you, and listen to how they share their joys/concerns/thanks with God.
Jesus, thank you for Summer. Thank you for light and warmth. Thank you for the sun. Thank you for the gifts of nature and for the annual cycles and seasons. Today, give us that grace again, to see you as the Creator, the One who lifts us up to be with you forever, even now. Amen. Cx :-)

Sorry to hear you are still in pain Kandj. I hope it will go away very soon. That "sun has got his hat on" song is going to be going round my brain all day.
Thank you to Kandj and Cynthia for your good wishes for my grandson. He has had a couple of days of practice, today is equipment inspection and opening ceremony and competition proper starts tomorrow and continues till Friday. Of course, we want him to do well but the important thing is for him to enjoy the experience of meeting youngsters from so many other countries - 31 countries in all I think.
Because of the opportunities J has had I have been thinking of those youngsters whose futures are limited either through poverty or lack of parental care and commitment, and hoping that they will receive the help they need.
~~~~~~~~~~ a quick wave to anyone looking in. Enjoy your day.
Hello all
Definitely remembered the pain relief tablets last night but I kept laying on the left side of my face and waking myself up with the pain in my jaw. It is a warm and sunny day but a little breeze is making it much more comfortable for hubby..... and for me too. I have had this happy little tune going around in my head all morning......
The sun has got his hat on Hip, hip, hip hooray The sun has got his hat on And he's coming out today.
Now we'll all be happy Hip, hip, hip hooray The sun has got his hat on And he's coming out to play.
Just sending out a little (lop-sided) smile to whoever might need one today xxx
Good morning :-)
Poor kandj, you have really been in the wars, but its so good to hear that you are on the road to recovery - yes, it does help if you remember to take your painkillers :-D
The Collect (special prayer for today)
O God, the protector of all who trust in you, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: increase and multiply upon us your mercy; that with you as our ruler and guide we may so pass through things temporal that we finally lose not the things eternal; grant this, heavenly Father, for our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
The gospel for today gives us those reassuring words from Jesus….
“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest”.
Hello all
I am an early bird this morning, I forgot to take my pain relief tablets before bed and was woken early with pain in my gum..... silly me, but I am improving slowly and looking less like a hamster now thank goodness.
Vera I hope your Grandson has done well in the EU Archery competition. He is sure to have enjoyed the whole experience. You must be very proud of his achievements.
Cynthia your posting now has me remembering the words of this lovely old song.
I'm only human, I'm just a woman Help me believe in what I could be And all that I am. Show me the stairway I have to climb Lord for my sake, teach me to take One day at a time.
One day at a time sweet Jesus That's all I'm asking from you Just give me the strength To do every day, what I have to do. Yesterday's gone sweet Jesus Tomorrow my never be mine Lord help me today, show me the way One day at a time.
Happy Saturday blessings to all looking in today. xxx
Good morning :-)
Lovely morning here in the North West...........now to get some more washing out! :-D
One Day at a Time
One day at a time, with its failures and fears, With its hurts and mistakes, with its weakness and tears, With its portion of pain and its burden of care; One day at a time we must meet and must bear.
One day at a time to be patient and strong, To be calm under trial and sweet under wrong; Then its toiling shall pass and its sorrow shall cease; It shall darken and die, and the night shall bring peace.
One day at a time - but the day is so long, And the heart is not brave, and the soul is not strong, O Thou pitiful Christ, be Thou near all the way; Give courage and patience and strength for the day.
Swift cometh His answer, so clear and so sweet; "Yea, I will be with thee, thy troubles to meet; I will not forget thee, nor fail thee, nor grieve; I will not forsake thee; I never will leave."
Not yesterday's load we are called on to bear, Nor the morrow's uncertain and shadowy care; Why should we look forward or back with dismay? Our needs, as our mercies, are but for the day.
One day at a time, and the day is His day; He hath numbered its hours, though they haste or delay. His grace is sufficient; we walk not alone; As the day, so the strength that He giveth His own.
Thank you for your kind words Vera......it's always encouraging to know that someone is around. Very good luck to your grandson in the competition - he has done incredibly well. Please keep us posted. <3
For today:
Lord, here I am. It’s another day – Friday. For some people it’s the end of their working week. The weekend break is ahead. Time, maybe, for the family, the garden, sport, odd jobs. So today Lord, I pray for families, For parents and children. I ask your blessing and peace To be with every family. Hold them together with a great love for each other. Amen “Love is patient, love is kind.” 1 Corinthians 13:4
Love to all Cx :-)
Poor you, Kandj, I hope the soreness and bruising feels a little easier today.
I know we don't always respond much but we do miss you when you don't post Cynthia. I am always amazed at how many different themes you find for us.
Yesterday I had to take a long coach journey. Our driver gave us a smooth ride and got us safely there and back. Today grandson flies to Croatia for the European archery contest, so thanks today then for all our transport workers and prayers for the safety of all who are travelling by land, sea or air.
Poor kandj, all battered and bruised with her recent dental exploits....we wish you well and send our love <3
I come before you O Lord As the sun rises may your hope rise up in me. As the birds sing may your love flow out of me. As the light floods into this new day, May your joy shine through me. I come before you, O Lord And drink in this moment of peace, That I may carry something of your hope, love and joy Today in my heart. Amen.
Hello all and coooooooeeeeeee Cynthia...... are you having a sleep in??
I am still feeling a little battered and weary and avoiding the mirrors as my face is still swollen and bruised. Thankful though for the NHS and kind sympathetic staff.
Even if I go through the deepest darkness , I will not be afraid Lord, for you are beside me always. (Psalm 23 : 4)
Happy Wednesday blessing to everyone looking in today. xxx
Yes, definitely a lonely place at the moment. Please give a wave if you pass through - no one has to say anything :-D
Dear Lord
Bless the work we do, the words we say, the love we share and the grace we show, on our daily walk through this beautiful and precious world.
Good morning :-)
Feeling a bit lonely around here these days..........but never mind, I press on and hope that someone, somewhere is helped or encouraged. :-)
Somebody loves you more than you know, Somebody goes with you wherever you go, Somebody really and truly cares and lovingly listens to all your prayers … Don’t doubt for a minute that this is not true, FOR GOD LOVES HIS CHILDREN and takes care of them, too . . . And all of his treasures are yours to share If you love Him completely and show Him you care . . . And if you “walk in His footsteps” and have the faith to believe, There’s nothing you ask for that you will not receive!
Good morning :-)
Thank you Vera <3
It looks as though it is going to be a lovely day - the sun is shining brightly through the blinds..........doesn't it make a difference?
The churchwarden and I are endeavouring to get a fresh, new website for the church up and running. My word, it takes some working out. Having ploughed through words such as 'dashboard', 'domains' and 'web hosting', I looked at lots of advice about not being too 'pushy', keeping things clear and simple and that, sometimes, less is better. Now to find out how to work the silly thing!!!!
The Collect (special prayer) for today :
Almighty God, you have broken the tyranny of sin and have sent the Spirit of your Son into our hearts whereby we call you Father: give us grace to dedicate our freedom to your service, that we and all creation may be brought to the glorious liberty of the children of God; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
The Gospel for today is taken from Matthew 10 and we hear the words of Jesus as he tells us that ”anyone who gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple, will not lose their reward.”
Belated happy anniversary Cynthia.
Kandj, have a lovely special time with your family. Family get-togethers give a lot of joy.
One of my granddaughters is 15 today and I so wish I could be with her. I have of course sent a card and gift and a text message but I would love to be there to give her a hug. Still, we are close in spirit and she knows we are thinking of her.
Thinking of all those without family or who are apart for whatever reason.
We think of those families where Saturday comes as a blessed relief from the working week.
Saturday is like a blank page, fresh and new, a pause away from routines and responsibilities. Thank you for rest, for recreation, family and friends. Lord, thank you for Saturdays.
Amen.
