What a lovely man your uncle was by the sound of it :-)
Bet he had a twinkle in his eye when he said that kandj.
Was at my podiatrist this morning and my dentist tomorrow and thought thank goodness for these people who take care of my needs, mostly I am thankful for my husband who is my full time carer and who I would be lost without.
My prayer today is for all carers, young and old, for all the love and care they give. God bless you x

Love the story of your uncle kandj....... :-D
For this new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends,
We thank Thee, dearest Lord.

Hello All
I agree Cynthia and loved Emma's simple prayer..... so very true! Thank you Emma
I love my garden but really haven't had the time these last few years to keep on top of everything, but I do keep trying and promise myself that next year will be different.
I remember visiting my paternal Uncle's pristine garden and seeing a stone plaque which had these words imprinted on them;
The kiss of the sun for pardon The song of the bird's for mirth You are nearer God's heart in a garden Than anywhere else on earth.
I found these words so amazing as I had never ever seen them written anywhere before. My Uncle could see how impressed I was and with a straight face he told me that he had written them and had them put on a stone slab to put in his garden. What a load of rubbish and a big porkie pie.
I was only about 10years old at the time and it wasn't until several years later in the village library I came across a book which had a full poem written by Dorothy Frances Gurney named God's Garden and Uncle's words were written in verse 4?? He had died by then or I would have knocked at his door (armed with the library book) and asked some pertinent questions!
God's Garden
The Lord planted a garden in the first white days of the world, and He set there an angel warden In a garment of white unfurled
So near to the peace of Heaven That the hawk might nest with the wren For there in the cool of the even God walked with the first of men.
And I dream that these garden-closes With their shade and their sun-flecked sod and their lilies and bowers of roses, Were laid by the hand of God.
The kiss of the sun for pardon The song of the birds for mirth You are nearer God's heart in a garden Than anywhere else on earth.
For He broke it for us in a garden Under the olive-trees, Where the angel of strength was the warden and the soul of the world found ease.
written by Dorothy Frances Gurney (no credit whatsoever given to my paternal Uncle!!).
A gentle hug for those who feel alone right now. xxx

Good morning :-)
Lovely to see our friends popping in on here............hope all are well.
For today and those who will be doing a little bit of gardening:
My Garden of Prayer
My garden beautifies my yard and adds fragrance to the air ... But it is also my Cathedral and my quiet place of prayer ... So little do we realize that the glory and the power Of He who made the universe lies hidden in a flower.

Hello All
Schools all finished now until September and the village roads are so much quieter while the streets and shops are busy as little ones are around with relatives now.
For very many years I was involved in the church children's' club which took place Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings and was always very well attended, extremely noisy with lots of excited children and tiring too as I remember, BUT it was worthwhile and good to be in Jesus' team. Not sure if this still operates when so many Mums need to work now and church volunteers few and far between (and very much older than before!).
Heavenly Father We pray today for all children as they begin their schools holiday. Keep them safe and make them happy with friends and family. We pray for the teachers that they may enjoy this Summer and return to school in September welcoming all children in their care. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Remembering those who anxiously await hospital test results today. xxx

If the only prayer you said in your life was
"Thank You"
that would suffice.

Good morning :-)
Yesterday we had the baptism of a tiny baby whose family are regular worshippers with us. It was lovely to be able to be part of their special day. I was allowed to hold him and it was such a privilege as he is so small..........went all broody ! :-D
For today :
Christ, our all in all, into your presence I come, Lord; a few moments of quietness, closeness in a busy world that demands my attention. Breathe on me now, that I might know your power to see this day though. Amen
Praying for all those whose lives are hectic and demanding - that they may find peace. Cx :-)

Hello All
I am very late and so feel an evening prayer is appropriate.
As this evening prayer rises before you Lord May Your mercy come down upon us all this night May we all be blessed with a peaceful, restful sleep and awake refreshed in the morning to praise Your holy name. Amen.
Remembering all who are in need of prayerful support right now. xx

Good morning :-)
I certainly hope the weather improves for those who are going on holiday....it was so grey and wet here this morning - but it looks as though the sun is about to come through soon thank goodness.
The Collect for today:
Lord of all power and might, the author and giver of all good things: graft in our hearts the love of your name, increase in us true religion, nourish us with all goodness, and of your great mercy keep us in the same; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Thinking of those who would love to get to church today but, for whatever reason, are unable to attend.

Hello All
I fully agree with your concerns Cynthia. Our world is changing, and sadly not always for the better.
Schools ended yesterday and so many families head off this weekend for a well earned holiday. The roads will be extra busy and so my prayer today is for travelling mercies of everyone full of happy excitement going on their journey.
Heavenly Father Look down on all who are travelling this weekend, whether by car, coach, rail, sea or air. Surround them all with Your loving care. Protect them from every danger and bring them safely home refreshed and relaxed once more. In Jesus' name. Amen.
Remembering those who are feeling down hearted and alone today xx

Good morning :-)
It's such a pity that people's holidays are now overshadowed by the dark threat of possible terrorism. At a time when folk should be eagerly anticipating a break from their routine, many are now anxious about their safety. :-(
A Summer blessing
Lord God
May you walk with God this summer in whatever you do and wherever you go. May you talk to God this summer and every day and in every situation. May you talk with God every day.
Thinking of friends who are on holiday at this time. Cx :-)

Good Morning All.
Amen to your prayer Cynthia.
Our granddaughter returned home last night from a school trip abroad. Our family were naturally anxious for K and everyone flying out of the country, but she was soooo excited (only 14yrs old) and we couldn't let her see our worries for her safety. All is good now and she is at school for the last day of term, then Summer to come.
I have been reminded of the Tunisia horror and holiday makers all excited to be flying and looking forward to a happy relaxing time, and how different it all ended.
So I pray now for all those families who have lost loved ones due to violence, and for those forced to live now with physical injuries and mental problems daily. xx

All this talk about dentists and teeth made me think that this prayer could be a prayer for dentists... :-D
OPEN my eyes to see You in everything. OPEN my ears to hear You speaking to me through other people. OPEN my heart to care for other people. OPEN my mind that I may know what You want me to do. OPEN my will that I make good choices. AMEN. Count Me In.

Hello All
Our dental check ups were last month. They seem to go up in price each time, but we do have a patient Dentist and pleasant helpful staff which is always a blessing.
Our neighbour is in hospital having a second hip operation today. He was very anxious as was his wife and family.
A prayer for all in pain today.
Heavenly Father We pray for those in hospital and undergoing surgery today Surround the frightened with your tenderness Give strength to those in pain Hold the weak in Your loving arms Give compassion and patience to all Doctors and Nurses We ask this in Your names' sake. Amen
A gentle hug for all who are distressed for whatever reason today. xxx

Good morning :-)
I like Gaelic prayers very much - especially those with a touch of humour.. :-D
For today:
Look on the Sunny Side
There are always two sides, the good and the bad,
The dark and the light, the sad and the glad--
But in looking back over the good and the bad
We're aware of the number of good things we've had--
And in counting our blessings we find when we're through
We've no reason at all to complain or be blue--
So thank God for good things He has already done,
And be grateful to Him for the battles you've won,
And know that the same God who helped you before
Is ready and willing to help you once more--
Then with faith in your heart reach out for God's Hand
And accept what He sends, though you can't understand--
For our Father in heaven always knows what is best,
And if you trust in His wisdom your life will be blest,
For always remember that whatever betide you,
You are never alone for God is beside you.

Hello All
Sunshine and showers here today. A mixture and typical of our English Summer!
Thank you for the Gaelic prayer Cynthia. The one that springs to mind was always said by a previous Vicar at the end of all our services.
May the road rise up to meet you May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again May God hold you in the palm if His hand.
I love the simplicity of all Gaelic prayers. This one is new to me but worth sharing.
May you have - Walls for the wind and a roof for the rain, and drinks beside the fire. Laughter to cheer you, and those you love near you and all that your heart might desire.
Gentle hugs for all who are feeling weary and stressed today. xx

Another grey morning here today..........at least we get a variety of weather! :-D
A Celtic prayer for today:
In my waking and arising be the first thought that enters my head In my eating and drinking be the first thought that enters my head In my walking and journeying be the first thought that enters my head In my working and serving be the first thought that enters my head In my sowing and harvesting be the first thought that enters my head In my rejoicing and sorrowing be the first thought that enters my head In my resting and sleeping be the first thought that enters my head.
