I am pleased that you will get to church this morning Cynthia and that your son is happy to sit with his Dad and allow you a little "me time" today. Try to relax and enjoy the time this morning with your church family
The newspaper and TV coverage are full of awful tragedy and sad tales. We have so much to be thankful for when many others are grieving and hurting so very much
When we think of all our blessings then we give thanks to God For health and strength and special needs we give thanks to God
Thank you God for all Your blessings to me and my family For the strength You give us each day, and for all the people around us who make life more meaningful. Amen
Remembering many who need prayerful support today. xxx

Good morning :-)
The tragedy in Tunisia is horrific and reminds me of the quote found in the old Book of Common Prayer..... "In the midst of life, we are in death". We never know when our time will come. May God's love surround all those who mourn today.
The Collect for today:
O God, the protector of all who trust in you, without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy: increase and multiply upon us your mercy; that with you as our ruler and guide we may so pass through things temporal that we lose not our hold on things eternal; grant this, heavenly Father, for our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Later on in the service, we will hear the wonderful story of the raising of Jairus' daughter by Jesus. My son is coming over to stay with my OH so that I can get to church bless him.
Love to all Cx :-)

Hello All
Nice to see your usual interesting posting this morning Cynthia and I hope that your husband's bad phase will calm down soon. I also have the "Senior Moments" ha ha.
How shocking to read of more ISIS killings and massacre on the beaches in Tunisia. At least 15 Britons are thought to have lost their lives in this latest horrific terrorist attack, with the death number rising to 38 amongst the tourists today. What a nightmare situation. Condolences to the bereaved families, it unbelievably tragic.
Heavenly Father, we pray for all who have been devastated by this tragedy. We remember those who have lost their lives so suddenly. We hold in our prayers the people whose lives will be forever changed by loss of a loved one. Give them Your comfort Lord and surround them all with Your love at this time of grief. Give them the courage needed to face the days ahead. In Jesus' name. Amen.

We all have these senior moments Cynthia :-D
Perhaps this is a good time to thank you for all your postings. I always look at this thread first and expect to read your post and it was a shock not to see you there yesterday. So I am guilty of taking you for granted. However I am delighted you are OK though sorry that your OH is having a bit of a bad patch.
Thoughts today for all those who are struggling with long term illnesses, physical or mental, and for strength and support for those who love and care for them.

I am fine thank you - but have to admit that we are going through a bit of a bad spell with OH at the moment - but we plod on! :-D
For today - and thank you <3 Friends Are Life's Gift of Love
If people like me didn't know people like you,
Life would lose it's meaning and its richness, too...
For the friends that we make are life's gift of love,
And I think friends are sent right from heaven above...
And thinking of you somehow makes me feel
That God is love and He's very real.

Oh dear. Not like Cynthia to miss posting. Hope all is well with her husband and with Cynthia today. We all come across illness and difficulties when we must cope when the road is rough. As Christians we are not promised that life will be easy, but we are assured that we will never be left feeling alone in troubled times.
A prayer now for Cynthia in particular and for all who need strength for today.
O Lord, we call out to You in times of hardship knowing that You will give us the strength to bear all our heavy burdens, today and all our tomorrows. We are blessed to know Your divine love and compassion. Be mindful of us and have mercy on us all as we sometimes struggle to come to terms with life's challenges. Keep us ever in Your sight, until we can walk again with a light heart and refreshed spirit. We ask this in Jesus' name. Amen

I know what you mean about the weather Emma. I went on a guided "history walk" in a nearby town on Tuesday and, in spite of several layers, I was very cold. But then we read about places where the temperature is in the 40s or where they haven't had rain for 2 or 3 years and think it isn't so bad here after all.
Cynthia, I do hope your husband's condition stabilises soon. Take the opportunity for respite when you can; caring is hard work.
Giving thanks today for the comparative good health of myself and my husband and thinking of those whose lives are so much more difficult than mine. Also giving thanks for our temperate weather which keeps our country green and our crops growing .

Good morning :-)
The weather is very disappointing at the moment isn't it? Whatever happened to 'Flaming June'?
Husband's condition is up and down at the moment and our son, who doesn't work too far away, is coming over during his lunch break so that I can have an hour's respite.
Our grandson has his 'leaving school prom' on Friday. My word, how grown up he is now..........he will be all 'suited and booted' - a far cry from his usual attire :-D
For today:
For each new morning with its light, For rest and shelter of the night, For health and food, For love and friends, For everything Thy goodness sends
Love to all Cx :-)

Thinking today how fed up I am of having nothing but rain for the whole of June and how cold it has been. We always moan about the weather, it's too hot or it's too cold, never happy. So thought I'd share this as I am grateful for our changeable weather. (sometimes)
When yesterday is a disappointment, and today isn't better, remember that there is always a tomorrow, and make it something to look forward to AND SMILE. x
My prayers for those who have real problems in their lives.

That is better news Cynthia. A day at a time is all any of us can do, especially with ongoing poor health conditions. It's good that your hubby was able to get his hair cut and is all tidied up and smart once again now.
I have taken what seemed like forever this morning to simply thread a needle. Good job that I have endless patience. I am guilty of taking my eyesight for granted.
A prayer to St Lucy (Patron Saint of Eyes)
Saint Lucy, whose beautiful name signifies light. By the light of faith which God bestowed upon you increase and preserve His light in my soul so that I might avoid evil, and be zealous in the performance of good works and abhor nothing so much as the blindness and the darkness of evil and sin. Obtain for me, by your intercession with God, Perfect vision for my bodily eyes and the grace to use them for God's greater honour and glory. St Lucy, hear my prayer. Amen.
Saint Lucy was born into a rich noble Roman family. At a very young age Lucy lost her Father who was a Christian man. This left Lucy with a huge dowry. Her Mother wanted her to marry a Pagan man and she refused, instructing her Mother to distribute her wealthy dowry to the poor people, but her Mother would not agree. Lucy was known for her beautiful eyes. It was said that her eyes radiated her love for Jesus. Lucy's Mother became very ill and was healed with prayers. She was convinced it was a miraculous healing and agreed to comply with her daughter's request and distributed Lucy's dowry amongst the poor. The Pagan man who had proposed to Lucy was furious when he heard this news. He decided to destroy Lucy's life. Lucy was tortured to death and she died as a martyr in Sicily, because of her Christian faith. During the torture, Lucy's eyes were gouged out, but God restored her eyes and that was the reason St Lucy became the Patron Saint for people who are blind or who have eye problems. As with all Saints' lives this is another fascinating tale I think.
"Where there is no vision, people perish" Proverbs 29:v 18.
Remembering in prayer, those in need for whatever reason today. xx

Disappointing for you and your OH that you had to return home before the service yesterday Cynthia. I hope today will be the start of a better week for him.
I expect he enjoyed the family lunch. There is something very "right" about sharing a meal with family. My granddaughter was 18 on Friday and when her parents asked her how she would like to celebrate she chose a family meal. This took place yesterday and was a lovely occasion.
Thinking of all in need of support today and saying a quiet "thank you" that a particularly difficult issue in my own family is gradually being resolved.
