Good morning :-)
This afternoon I am going into our school to lead an assembly. I have a few 'butterflies' but am really looking forward to it. They are working towards the second stage of an award and the theme this term, is 'forgiveness' :-)
A prayer for today:
To you, O God most high, we lift our hearts and to you we give our praise. To you we confess our sins and to you we come for pardon. To you we pray for one another and to you we come for grace. To you we render our thanks and to you we ascribe all honour and glory, now and for ever. Amen.

Good morning :-)
The three babies duly arrived with their proud parents and lots of friends and relations. It's always a bit like Paddington Station on baptism morning as people move out of church from the main service and another crowd move into church for the baptisms. It's lovely to see such activity though.... :-D
Some thoughts for today:
I knelt to pray but not for long I had too much to do I had to hurry and get to work For bills would soon be due.
So I knelt and said a hurried prayer And jumped up off my knees My Christian duty was now done My soul could rest at ease.
All day long I had no time To spread a word of cheer No time to speak of Christ to friends They'd laugh at me I'd fear.
No time, no time, too much to do That was my constant cry No time to give to souls in need But at last the time to die.
I went before the Lord, I came And stood with downcast eyes For in His hands God held a book It was the book of life.
God looked into his book and said, "Your name I cannot find I once was going to write it down But never found the time."

Good morning :-)
Down to three baptisms today as one of the babies is poorly apparently. We pray for the child and for his family at this anxious time.
The Collect for today:
Almighty God, whose most dear Son went not up to joy but first he suffered pain, and entered not into glory before he was crucified: mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the cross, may find it none other than the way of life and peace; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

It made me smile too Emma........ :-)
Some thoughts for today:
I asked God to take away my pain. God said, No. It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.
I asked God to make my handicapped child whole. God said, No. Her spirit was whole, her body was only temporary.
I asked God to grant me patience. God said, No. Patience is a by-product of tribulations; it isn't granted, it is learned.
I asked God to give me happiness. God said, No. I give you blessings. Happiness is up to you.
I asked God to spare me pain. God said, No. Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.
I asked God to make my spirit grow. God said, No. You must grow on your own, but I will prune you to make you fruitful.
I asked for all things that I might enjoy life. God said, No. I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things.
I asked God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me. God said . . . Ahhhh, finally you have the idea.

A thoughtful smile for today:
Good morning. I am God. Today I will be handling all of your problems.
Please remember that I do not need your help. If the devil happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do not attempt to resolve it. Kindly put it in the SFJTD (something for Jesus to do) box. It will be addressed in MY TIME, not yours.
Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold on to it or remove it. Holding on or removal will delay the resolution of your problem.
If it is a situation that you think you are capable of handling, please consult me in prayer to be sure that it is the proper resolution.
Because I do not sleep nor do I slumber, there is no need for you to lose any sleep. Rest my child. If you need to contact me, I am only a prayer away.
- God.

Good morning :-)
Baptism preparation class last night. Four young families who have made the decision to have their child baptised into the Christian faith. They watched as the story of Jesus unfolded before them and how baptism is brought into that story.
When we went into church to make the seating arrangements, I explained that the church was bare of flowers through the solemnities of Lent whilst we pondered on Christ's sufferings and then, on Easter Day it would look like a flower festival.
Continuing our Lenten theme......
Lent is a time to take time to let the power of our faith story take hold of us, a time to let the events get up and walk around in us, a time to intensify our living unto Christ, a time to hover over the thoughts of our hearts, a time to place our feet in the streets of Jerusalem or to walk along the sea and listen to his Word, a time to touch his robe and feel the healing surge through us, a time to ponder and a time to wonder…. Lent is a time to allow a fresh new taste of God! Perhaps we’re afraid to have time to think, for thoughts come unbidden. Perhaps we’re afraid to face our future knowing our past. Give us courage, O God, to hear your Word and to read our living into it. Give us the trust to know we’re forgiven and give us the faith to take up our lives and walk. - Ann Weems

The visit to the eye clinic appears to have been the last one we shall make for now. Unfortunately, the problem has not resolved itself and there is nothing more they can do. Ah well. Such is life and we continue to be grateful for small mercies.
Another Lenten hymn to strengthen us :
Lord Jesus, think on me, and purge away my sin; from harmful passions set me free, and make me pure within.
Lord Jesus, think on me, with care and woe oppressed; let me thy loving servant be, and taste thy promised rest.
Lord Jesus, think on me, nor let me go astray; through darkness and perplexity point thou the heavenly way.
Lord Jesus, think on me, that, when the flood is passed, I may the eternal brightness see, and share thy joy at last.
Lord Jesus, think on me, that I may sing above to Father, Holy Ghost and thee the songs of praise and love.

Off to the eye clinic soon so, for today :
God in heaven and in my life, guide me and protect me.
I so often believe I can save myself and I always end in failure.
Lead me with your love away from harm and guide me on the right path.
May your Spirit inspire the Church and make us an instrument of your love and guidance.
Thank you for your care for me.
Amen.

Good morning :-)
I hope everyone has had a good week end, but for those who may be feeling rather down today, I hope this helps...:
God’s Hand is Always There
I am perplexed and often vexed And sometimes I cry and sadly sigh, But do not think, dear Father above, That I question you or your unfailing love. It’s just that sometimes when I reach out, You seem to be nowhere about, And while I’m sure you love me still And I know in my heart that you always will, Somehow I feel I cannot reach you. And though I get on my knees and beseech you, I cannot bring you close to me, And I feel adrift on life’s raging sea. But though I cannot find your hand To lead me on to the promised land, I still believe with all my being Your hand is there beyond my seeing.

The Collect for today:
Almighty God, you show to those who are in error the light of your truth, that they may return to the way of righteousness: grant to all those who are admitted into the fellowship of Christ’s religion, that they may reject those things that are contrary to their profession, and follow all such things as are agreeable to the same; through our Lord Jesus Christ, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Good morning..... :-)
As tomorrow is St. David's Day, I thought I would take a look at the life of the man who is the Patron Saint of Wales.
From the cathedral website :
David was born in the year 500, the son of St Non and a prince of Ceredigion. Legend states that Non gave birth to him on a cliff top during a violent storm. The present cathedral stands on the site of the monastery he founded in the inhospitable area known as 'Glyn Rhosyn.' David and his followers lived a simple life; they refrained from eating meat or drinking beer. David's symbol, now a national symbol of Wales, is the leek.
David rose to become a bishop in the church and made several pilgrimages including one to Jerusalem during which, tradition states, he brought back with him a stone which now sits in an altar in the south transept of the cathedral.
The best known miracle associated with David is said to have taken place when he was preaching in the middle of a large crowd at the Synod of Llanddewi Brefi. When those at the back complained that they could not hear him, the ground on which he stood is reputed to have risen up to form a small hill so that everyone had a good view. A white dove settled on his shoulder, a sign of God's grace and blessing.
David died in the year 589 and the monastery is said to have been 'filled with angels as Christ received his soul'. His final words to his followers were: 'Be Joyful. Keep the Faith. Do the little things that you have heard and seen me do.'
PRAYER Almighty God, who called your servant David to be a faithful and wise steward of your mysteries for the people of Wales: Mercifully grant that, following his purity of life and zeal for the gospel of Christ, we may with him receive the crown of everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and ever. Amen.

I hope today brings peace to those who are struggling and hope to those who feel lost.
Thanks be to Christ the Lord, who brought us life by his death on the cross. With our whole heart let us ask him: By your death raise us to life
Teacher and saviour, you have shown us your fidelity and made us a new creation by your passion, keep us from falling again into sin.
Help us to deny ourselves today, and not deny those in need.
May we receive this day of penance as your gift,-and give it back to you through works of mercy.
Master our rebellious hearts, and teach us generosity.
Amen.

Good morning :-)
I had been wondering how things were going with your young friend Emma and she has been held in prayer every day.
Looking for various ideas on a Lenten theme, I came across a Celtic Lenten Practice.
Choose one thing that you do everyday such as brushing your teeth, getting dressed, turning on your computer, eating, rising from bed in the morning, or going to sleep in the evening. As you do this action, pause to remember that God is with you. Do this every day for the entire six weeks. Or choose to bless your children each morning and evening.
"In the milking of cows and tending the hearth, in threading the loom and gathering the peat, the breath of prayer blessing each movement, a naming of Creator upon each mindful deed."
Wonderful thoughts to help us concentrate our minds.

Good morning :-)
Belated happy birthday greetings to Vera, and I hope you had a good day despite your sad memories. <3
I think it's a generous thought to donate your long unused tea set to the Salvation Army and I am sure they, and others, will benefit from it in one way or another. Much better than it sitting doing nothing. :-)
For today:
Dear Lord, I know you receive what is in my heart. Let me be inspired by your words and by the actions of your son, Jesus. Guide me to make sacrifices this Lent in the spirit of self-denial and with greater attention to you and to those around me. Help me to believe that you will grant me this because of the sacrifice Jesus made for me.
Amen.
