Good morning :-)

I'm glad that you enjoyed those prayers Emma......I've had a pm from someone else who enjoyed them too....... :-)

Whilst it is not too long since we celebrated Easter, I thought I would use this prayer for today :

A Lifetime Guarantee

Will you take me back, dear Lord,
I've been gone from You so long;
I have lost track of all my sins,
And I've spent years in doing wrong.

I did so many prideful things,
And shamelessly did boast;
I broke so many loving hearts
And hurt the people I loved most.

I've heard about atonement,
I've been warned of Judgment Day;
And even though I listened,
I still strayed far away.

Will you welcome me again, dear Lord,
And forgive me one more time?
Will You share Your Father's love with me,
If I truly give You mine?

I'm so sorry that I left You, God,
I'm saddened now ... and low;
God smiled, "You didn't leave me, child,
I never let you go!"

"I promised you Salvation,
My Word cannot be undone;
You got a Lifetime Guarantee,
When I gave up my Precious Son."

~ Virginia Ellis

Remember kandj and all others who are bearing heavy loads at this time.

Good morning :-)

As it is almost the weekend, I thought a smile wouldn't go amiss. Hope the following prayers lighten any troubled souls...... :-)

"Dear God, I went to this wedding and they were kissing right there in church. Is that OK?"

"Dear God, thank You for the baby brother but what I prayed for was a puppy."

"Dear God, it must be super hard to love all the people in the world, especially my brother. I don't know how You do it."

"Dear God, I love Christmas and Easter. Could you please put another Holiday in the middle, there's nothing good in there now."

"Dear God, are you actually invisible or is that just a trick?"

"Dear God, I want to be just like my daddy when I grow up but without so much hair all over."

"Dear God, is it true my father won't get in Heaven if he uses his golf words in the house?"

"Dear God, my Grandpa says you were around when he was a little boy. How far back do you go?

"Dear God, do you draw the lines around the countries? If you don't, who does?"

"Dear God, did you mean for giraffes to look like that or was it an accident?"

"Dear God,maybe Cain and Abel would not kill each other so much if they each had their own rooms. It works out OK with me and my brother."

"Dear God, if you watch in Church on Sunday I will show you my new shoes."

"Dear God, I didn't think orange went with purple until I saw the sunset you made on Tuesday night. That was really cool."

"Dear God, I say your prayer every night, 'lead us not into temptation and deliver us some e-mail' but I never get an e-mail from you. Do you have my right address?"

"Dear God, please take care of my daddy, mommy, sister, brother, my doggy and me. Oh, please take care of yourself, God. If anything happens to you, we're
gonna be in a big mess."

Out of the mouths of babes.............. :-) Cx :-)

Good morning :-)

I remember being taught that there is no hard and fast rule for praying. There are many different types of prayer - formal and informal - serious and lighthearted - meditative and impromptu.

You can pray absolutely anywhere - in church or at home. At work or at play.

You can pray whilst working or resting - driving or gardening........

Anywhere, anytime, any place :-)

I try and provide as many different formats for prayer as I can think of and hope they bring comfort, hope and inspiration to others. Please have a word with me about any type of prayer which is meaningful to you, and I will do my best to find something appropriate.

For today - in the Celtic tradition

Lord you are in this place,
Fill us with your power,
Cover us with your peace,
Show us your presence.

Lord help us to know,
We are in your hands,
We are under your protection,
We are covered by your love.

Lord we ask you, today,
To deliver us from evil,
To guide us in our travels,
To defend us from all harm.

Lord give us now,
Eyes to see the invisible,
Ears to hear your call,
Hands to do your work,
And hearts to respond to your love.

Good morning.... :-)

I have a busy few days ahead of me......our late vicar's wife is finally moving from her home - after many frustrating delays - and I have promised to help.

Our prayer for today :

This day we would live our lives for you,
please help us move our dreams to reality.
This day we would like to show your holy grace,
please help us to walk closely with you.
This day we would like to inspire hope,
please help us to trust in your promises. Amen.

Good morning..... :-)

I have received a message from kandj expressing her grateful thanks for all the thoughts and prayers on this thread which are helping her along her difficult journey. I will assure her of our continued support and pray that God will continue to give her strength to face each new day. Bless you kandj xxx

The prayer for today which, I hope, fits in with the dreadful news headline today - the murder of the teacher.

Compassionate and loving God,
we pray for the bereaved and for those who feel sad and isolated. We remember them all, but especially those who have no close family or whose family are far away.

We thank you, Lord, for Cruse volunteers and for pastoral visitors who are so privileged to be welcomed into people's homes. We pray that, as we empathise, listen and offer support, a spark of hope may be ignited in your name. Amen.

- Cruse volunteer and pastoral visitor.

Love to you all. Cx :-)

Good morning.... :-)

I hope all is well with everyone today. kandj and her difficulties remain in our thoughts and prayers as do others known to us.

It's good to have friends..... :-)

Friendship is a Priceless Gift,
It cannot be bought or sold;
But its value is far greater,
Than a mountain made of Gold.

For gold is cold and lifeless,
It can neither see nor hear;
And in the time of trouble,
It is powerless to cheer.

It has no ears to listen,
Nor heart to understand.
It cannot bring you comfort,
Or reach out a helping hand.

So when you ask God for a gift,
Be thankful if He sends ...
Not diamonds, pearls or riches,
But the Love of Real True Friends.

- Helen Steiner Rice

Enjoy your day Cx :-)

Good morning....:-)

Today is a day which carries several titles within the church as a whole.

It is known as 'Low Sunday' - the Sunday after Easter possibly to indicate the contrast between last week and this week.

Also, it is known as 'St. Thomas Sunday' - remembering when Christ appeared to the disciples after His Resurrection - and Thomas doubted.

An interesting term is 'Quasimodo Sunday' - taken from the introit to the Latin mass "Quasi modo geniti infantes, rationabile, sine dolo lac concupiscite" which is taken from 1 Peter 2:2.

It appears that, in the Victor Hugo novel, Quasimodo was found abandoned on the steps of the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Sunday after Easter.

The Collect for today:

Almighty Father, you have given your only Son to die for our sins and to rise again for our justification: grant us so to put away the leaven of malice and wickedness that we may always serve you in pureness of living and truth; through the merits of your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

We continue to pray for kandj and her husband and all those known to us who need our prayers. Cx :-)

Good morning everyone and thank you for popping in to say farewell BananaNaNa, and I hope all goes well with you. :-)

This little item is sent with love to all those who are in need of a kind word, deed or thought.... :-)

My name is Friendship Bear
and someone sent me to visit you!

I'm not a very fancy bear,
I'm rather plain and kind of small,
Even so ... someone who likes you
Said I should give you a call.

You can hide me under a pillow
Or set me on a shelf,
And when you feel discouraged,
I will do my best to help.

I'm sitting on my favourite blanket
That I snuggle when I'm sad,
It was a present from my Granny,
Made for days when things seemed bad.

My Granny always told me,
"Life is like this 'ol blanket,
‘Cause if you give the pieces to Jesus,
He'll make a perfect quilt."

Sometimes I don't see a pattern,
And sometimes He seems far away,
That is when I clutch my blanket,
And pray ... pray ... pray!

Though I don't have all the answers,
‘Cause I'm just a friendly bear,
I've been sent here on this mission
From someone who really cares.

So every time you see me,
Please remember this ...
The person who sent me to you,
Keeps you in their thoughts and prayers.

BananaNana, Your link brought back memories for me. I can see myself as a little girl of about 6 sitting on the floor in our front room sobbing while all the rellies sang that goodbye song to my aunt, uncle and cousins who were leaving for Australia. What we didn't expect was that 5 months later they would be back! lol

Perhaps you'll come back another year. In the meantime, all the very best to you.

Good morning and thank you for that prayer Emma. Only last night, someone was talking about the books produced by David Adam - another God-incidence? :-)

Children are often considered to be 'the church of tomorrow'. However, children are, actually, part of the church today. Many churches have excellent facilities for young families with children and there is an immense amount of children's work going on at diocesan level throughout the country and throughout all denominations.

So, for today, a child's prayer:

Thanksgiving Prayer for Children

Lord, thank you for the flowers and thank you for the trees
Thank you for my special friends and all the fun they bring
Thank you for the food I eat and thank you for my drink
But most of all I thank you for the way you love me
Amen.

Have a good day everyone - still upholding kandj and those who are in any kind of need - in prayer. Cx :-)

Circle me, Lord
Keep peace within,
Keep evil out.

Good morning :-)

I hope today is a good day for everyone - it's hard to believe that we are nearly at the end of April already.....!

Our prayer for today:

O God, we thank you for all those in whose words and
in whose writings your truth has come to us.
For the historians, the psalmists and the prophets,
who wrote the Old Testament;
For those who wrote the Gospels and the Letters
of the New Testament.
For all who in every generation
have taught and explained and expounded and
preached
the word of Scripture:
We thank you, O God.

Grant, O God, that no false teaching may ever have
any power to deceive us
or to seduce us from the truth.
Grant, O God, that we may never listen to any
teaching which would encourage us to think
sin less serious, vice more attractive,
Grant, O God, that we may never listen to any
teaching which would dethrone
Jesus Christ from the topmost place;
Grant, O God, that we may never listen to any
teaching
which for its own purposes perverts the truth.

O God, our Father, establish us immovably in the truth.
Give us minds which can see at once
the difference between the true and the false;
Make us able to test everything,
and to hold fast to that which is good;
Give us such a love of truth,
that no false thing may ever be able to lure us from it.
So grant that all our lives we may know, and love,
and live the truth; through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Amen.

- William Barclay
