OH has never said much about chatterers during communion, it's usually before and after church, especially when they used to have coffee in the Church Hall afterwards.

He hates being "grabbed" to be told "Did you know so-and-so has been away. Joe Blow told me, and he'd heard it from Tom Smith?"

................... and he doesn't even know so-and-so in the first place!!!

Good morning :-)

Very true Dermot, very true.

Chattering during Communion also drives me to distraction too. When things were as they used to be, we sat in front of two very nice elderly ladies. The thing is, once it all went quiet as people were going up to the altar to receive, they would start chattering. Oh my days and did they chatter!!! Everything about what they had done in the week to who had done what where. They were totally oblivious of the fact that they were distracting those around them. Ah well, such is life.

kandj ............... he is also 82, so an old man, but he has one old woman (same age as me!) who chases him 'cos she likes to talk to men. Nothing wrong in it, except she's as boring as all get out!

Hello all

Loving the Advent calendar, thank you Cynthia.

Sylvia, I don't take offence easily. Your husband has my sympathy. We also have "old women" muttering and gossiping during the giving out of the Holy Communion, it's definitely not the time or the place inmo, but it happens often and drives me to distraction !!

Stay safe everyone. Covid is still around us all.

Cynthia ..... he would be in his element!!!

kandj ........... I'm not sure how to say this, OH loves the church music, but he comes home almost swearing about the "old women" muttering and gossiping! :-D

Please don't take me wrong, but that church does have quite a lot of them.

Canada apparently will be getting some Pfizer vaccines next week, and they will start rolling them out to the provinces, with vaccinations the following week. Only about 250,000 doses spread between the provinces, but it's a start ........... health workers and people in care homes come first.

Each province is responsible for the vaccination procedures. It's as if each county in the UK had the rights while Boris etc couldn't order them how to do it ;-)

Hello all

Church yesterday and I was SO COLD inside.

It was good to watch the lighting of the 2nd Advent candle which represents the Prophets.

People of God; Be glad!
Your God delights in you.,
giving you joy for sadness
and turning the dark to light.
Be strong in hope therefore;
for your God comes to save
You are God's children.

Sylvia, I hope your husband is able to be back in his church before very much longer.

Good morning :-)

Churches have just re-opened for services after a month's break Sylvia, but the church I attend has open for private prayer on Saturday mornings right through from August time. With this, not everyone comes at the same time but we had a steady stream for the 2 hours we were open. All the usual procedures were in place of course.

We have not held a Sunday services in our church since March but we are encouraged to go to a neighbouring church or zoom it instead. I have zoomed it a couple of times but..............shall we say it is not my type of worship which is on offer. I am not into very low church worship with clerics in woolly jumpers bouncing around - guitar music I have never heard before with lyrics I can't sing along to - call me traditional but that's the way I am.

So, I worship at the main parish church where the service is what I am used, the music is glorious and the choir sings hymns we can hum along to. Sylvia, your husband would be in his element. :-D :-D

Anyway, on to today's Advent calendar .....

A quick and early visit as I help at church each Saturday morning when we welcome folk for private prayer. I am unlocking this morning so I had better be there before a queue forms!!! :-D

kandj ........

I didn't see anything about hives in reports online, although people didn't like the taste of it .... someone recommended trying the tea before buying it. I'm not quite sure how you are meant to do that :-D

I notice however that it does contain 4 different herbs, one or two of which have been known to cause allergies, eg, some people are allergic or intolerant of chamomile.

Hello all

Thanks for sharing your experience Sylvia, all good so far, but I am being wary now.

Tried to snow first thing, thankfully it soon stopped.

Take care and stay safe everyone.

kandj ................... be a bit careful with the Pukka tea, especially their Night Time herbal one.

I used Celestial Tea's Sleepytime or Extra Sleepytime tea for years, but it has become very hard to find here for some reason, and I have been looking for a replacement.

About 2-3 months ago I saw a local store advertising Pukka Tea Night Time, googled it, read up on it, and got OH to buy 1 box when he next went out.

No problems, seemed to work, so I used that box of 20 packets, and he bought a second box.

Then I came out in big red itchy spots, one to several a night, couldn't work out what was causing them, did the whole gamut from looking for insects (they looked like my reaction to mosquitoes), and finally ended up with self-diagnosing as possible hives by elimination of possible causes and appearance.

The only new addition to my life was the Pukka tea, and I had started drinking that about 7-10 days before the beginning of the problem.

I stopped drinking it, the hives gradually went away ......... but it took near enough 6 weeks to work it all out and sorted.

Now I'm left with a box containing about 15 packets of the tea!
