and serves us well she does too! ;-)<3

Fly, they do two so that they can each play on their own turf, as that is assumed to be an advantage.
When they are playing at home, they also have the "EXTRA MAN"- the support of their fans.

That's why it's FRANCE v ENGLAND- because France is the home team this time. Whereas last Saturday, it was England v France, because it was at Twickenham.

Hello Jem

Thanks for that info. It makes for sorry reading. Such a shame that someone so committed and passionate about rugby has been forced to retire from the game.

Thank you for the reminder about the game between France v England. I will hunt out the England flag to wave the team on at 8pm tomorrow.

I hope that you will feel better in yourself and that radio Jem will be ready and able to commentate on this match.

RYAN JONES RETIRES

The news was announced yesterday, that...
...WALES' FORMER CAPTAIN, THE LOVELY MAN THAT IS RYAN JONES, HAS BEEN FORCED TO RETIRE FROM RUGBY on the advice of doctors!

34 Year Old Ryan has had a dream of a rugby career, winning 75 CAPS for WALES.
Ryan is one of an "elite" few Wales Players that have 3 GRAND SLAMS to their name, others being Gethin Jenkins, Adam Jones, Gareth Edwards, Gerald Davies and JPR Williams.

In 2005 Ryan won 3 CAPS for the BRITISH & IRISH LIONS.

RYAN MADE THIS STATEMENT...

"The old cliche of making the decision with a heavy heart is true on this occasion"

"The last few weeks have been emotionally tough for me. I've had to recognise, and come to terms with the fact, that while the mind is still very willing, the body is no longer able to do what I want it to on a rugby pitch."

"Looking back on my career, I can say that I have enjoyed some fantastic highs and, although there were some well documented lows along the way, the overriding feeling is one of immense pride and satisfaction," he said.

"If someone had told me 20 years ago that I was going to achieve and experience a fraction of what I have then I would have been over the moon.

"Highlights of my career obviously include three Grand Slams with Wales and four league titles with the Ospreys, but I can't take a final bow without referencing the stand-off against the Haka in 2008.

"It was absolute theatre and although I never got to beat the All Blacks, I think we can claim that victory at least."

THIS IS THE WALES HAKA STAND-OFF of 2008 that Ryan is referring to....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fYIUdVNFgU

Ryan also said...
"Rugby has been a huge part of my life... not just my job, but a PASSIONATE HOBBY...
no longer working toward a big match will leave a HUGE GAP in my life that a few rounds of golf will simply not fill"

He also said that what he has accomplished was the dream, not only of himself, but of his family, friends and everyone around him, and "SHARING IT WITH THEM HAS BEEN SPECIAL!"

Ryan, who has been playing for BRISTOL since 2014, has had to resign a year early from his club following a shoulder injury.

Bristol's Head Coach SEAN HOLLEY (who was also in charge of the Ospreys when Ryan played for them) said yesterday that it had been...
... "an HONOUR to work alongside him! ... Ryan was prepared to put his body on the line and he did it for Club and Country"

Ryan only got into rugby by chance!
He played FOOTBALL for Bristol on a junior level as GOALIE!:-0
He only took up rugby at the age of 17 to be with his friends at RISCA YOUTH! :-D

AS A RUGBY CAPTAIN AND LEADER, RYAN EXCELLED

WALES' HEAD COACH WARREN GATLAND HAD THIS TO SAY IN THAT REGARD.....

"Ryan was truly a great leader and servant of Welsh Rugby. A ROLE MODEL ON AND OFF THE PITCH!"

Ryan is looking forward to spending time with his family and watching the World Cup as a spectator.

JEM and all the Rugby Gang at Radio Jem wish the lovely Ryan Jones a happy retirement :-)

YOU WILL BE MISSED RYAN <3
