PatinCyprus Report 24 Oct 2015 15:51

We are having problems with the internet and OH has complained several times this week, even showing them the speed we had and CYTA (Cyprus's BT) have relented and agreed there's a problem and on Monday we can go and get a new updated modem as the speed up to the house they say is fine. We'll see whether it is the modem on Monday. :-D

I hope to have better transmission than last weekend. It was dreadful. Other problem is that we are having storms and flooding. We have got away with it so far with a small amount of rain and thunder and lightening but there's a week of this so I'm hoping it won't be during the rugby, :-S

GOD DEFEND NEW ZEALAND

The anthem has English and Maori lyrics, with slightly different meanings. When performed in public, the usual practice is to sing the first verse in both Maori and English.

Maori verse: "Aotearoa"
E Ihowa Atua,
O nga iwi matou ra
Ata whakarangona;
Me aroha noa
Kia hua ko te pai;
Kia tau to atawhai;
Manaakitia mai
Aotearoa

English translation (Karetu)

Lord, God over yonder,
Of all our nations
Listen to us gently,
With the infinite love
May the goodness bear fruit;
May your kindness come;
Please give protection to
Aotearoa

English verse: "God Defend New Zealand"

God of Nations at Thy feet,
In the bonds of love we meet,
Hear our voices, we entreat,
God defend our free land.
Guard Pacific's triple star
From the shafts of strife and war,
Make her praises heard afar,
God defend New Zealand.

Where the echoing cliffs resound in answer
