Seriously, I've tried every which way to cook it, from roasting it to trying to prepare Peking Duck. It's tough, greasy, and not really good value for money :-D

I only buy one when they are on 'special' at the supermarket :-D :-D

We believe you Allan :-D

Allan

:-D :-D :-D

Edit; I didn't fib about the duck....I'll never buy another one :-|

I think maybe you should write a cook book Allan :-D

You're right about photoshopping.....but my food can look like that if I don't wear my glasses.

Allan

Allan Report 21 Jul 2017 11:59

Unfortunately, Caroline, my meals never turn out like those in the 'fancy' recipe books, which, in my opinion, are photoshopped. But at least mine are edible :-D :-D

By the way, I do have a fantastic recipe for Christmas Pudding which is cooked in the microwave, rather than steamed. Ideal for Oz given our upside-down seasons ;-)

:-D :-D

My mum always said anyone that can read can cook.....I find it helps if there's a picture of what it's meant to look like as well......sometimes I reach that goal.....

Allan Report 21 Jul 2017 11:31

Ok, I fibbed :-(

I do make nice Indian style curries, including Vindaloos, following recipes, and I do make my own curry powder and dukkha.

I also do nice, in my family's opinion, beef and chicken casseroles.

I vowed from a very early age that given access to food I would not starve to death.

I actually learnt to bake when very young helping my mum when she was baking and graduated from there :-D :-D

EOS, welcome to the thread :-)

My moods are melancholy, as is my cooking, the biggest disaster being the melon and cauli that I tend to steam together :-D :-D

My latest culinary disaster was last weekend when I tried to joint a duck :-0

At least we didn't have to slice the breast which came off in approximately eight and a half pieces. The stock from the carcass was a moderate success and with the foul experience I have decided to graduate to chickens.

The problem is they run too fast! ;-) :-D

Within the family I'm known as the one pot wonder; stick a pan in front of me and I wonder what to do with it :-D :-D :-D

I do enjoy making bread, at least it brings the dough in :-D :-D

Note to all: I have no intention of whooshing the thread :-D :-D

Elizabeth...when I have to cook a big meal like Christmas etc the joke always is I've never killed anyone...yet :-D

Trouble is I think Allan is a good cook.

Dear Allan

Hello

Please no whoosing the thread!

We all have talents that we do not broadcast.

Mine is cooking, the household has been on alert for years because it is truly awful.

Do you know what?

I am proud of my dismal cuisine efforts!

Take gentle care all
Love Elizabeth, EOS
