Ahh - my sort of wine :-D :-D :-D

My mum, used to live in Portugal and regularly bought plastic cartons of red wine, which she then transferred to glass bottles as (apparently) it lasted longer!! :-D :-D

Allan

Allan Report 11 Jul 2017 00:05

I'm running out of places to store the wine :-(

Still, if I drink it as soon as I receive it I may be able to keep the situation tolerable :-D :-D

Oh I don't know Allan strike while the iron is hot, the guy is feeling generous...it would be rude not to thank him in a timely manner. :-D :-D

Allan

Allan Report 10 Jul 2017 22:58

Always on the look out for bargains, Caroline.

Just recently my daughter, who works for a transport company, gave me a carton of wine (dozen bottles, which her boss gave her after asking if she drank wine.

She said no but that I did, so her gave her the carton to pass on to me.

I told her to thank him on my behalf and, lo, her gave her another one to pass on :-D :-D

The company is in Donnybrook, a major fruit growing area, with quite a few boutique wineries, and frequently receives pallets of materials as part payments.

I've told her to leave it for a few weeks before thanking him again ;-) :-D :-D

Vintage? Vintage? Straight from the fermenting vessel to the plastic liner :-D :-D

At $18.00 for two casks the wine should be moderately good. I normally buy (when it's on special) 3x5 litre casks for $35.00 total :-D :-D :-D

Caroline

Caroline Report 10 Jul 2017 03:14

The idea of the red wine sounds good but two casks for $18....hmmm....what vintage might they be :-D

Allan

Allan Report 10 Jul 2017 00:07

Thanks, Bob :-)

Two casks of red wine, Caroline ;-) :-D :-D

What would the Bland thread be without you Allan....but just in case...what could you better spend the $18 on then??

Allan

Allan Report 9 Jul 2017 22:37

Well, still nothing riveting happening to make me want to renew my GR subscription for another six months.

$18.00 could be better spent elsewhere :-0

Joy Report 19 Jun 2017 08:38

Thank you, Bob and Allan.

If you would like to send the details to me, Allan, I would be happy to search again.

Allan

Allan Report 17 Jun 2017 22:46

I do indeed recognise those Board names, Joy :-)

I also seem to remember that early on in my, so far, unsuccessful search for my paternal grandfather, you were one of the many on these boards who tried to help :-)

Whatever the Board name, it is always sad when a person leaves :-(

Yes, the time has arrived, Allan. I shall leave threads that I started in genealogy chat, military etc in the hope they may be useful to readers.

It shall be adieu from me - real name/. Kentish Maid / Maid Marion etc.

We used records in other fee paying sites a long time before they were put on GR ie ancestry and find my past, and frequent other free forum for research nowadays.

Sorry this has veered away from bland. :)

Allan

Allan Report 16 Jun 2017 12:09

Whoa, I am now totally confused :-S :-S

Are you leaving GR, JoyDean?

If so, I wouldn't think that it was an event that calls for a party :-(

Am I missing something?

I can be a real thicky sometimes (most of the time) :-(

Joy

Joy Report 16 Jun 2017 09:18

Bland ish has become too interesting.

JoyLouise is throwing a party for my leaving ... :)

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 15 Jun 2017 22:52
