The Specsavers I go to is open on both Saturday and Sunday as well. The actual audiologists seem to work between two branches, but are always at mine on Sunday if they have an appointment to attend. My sister was having her quarterly MRI scan on the tumour site this morning. It only takes twenty minutes, but she has to have a cannula put in first. They couldn’t get it in this morning, lots of people had a go, before they finally managed to get it in. She was there for two hours in the end. The poor thing is really bruised.
Son in law got a phone call an hour ago to say his ninety nine year old father has just been taken to the hospital because he has sepsis. That doesn’t sound good. We were just sitting down for dinner, so he ate his at break neck speed, packed and left. Usually when we are going somewhere he is never ready on time, so we are always late.

Hello all, Typical, yesterday morning as I put the hearing aid into my bad ear, the wire snapped off the head. I phoned Specsavers lots of times during the morning but all I got was a recorded message saying that they were busy dealing with customers and if I left a message they would ring back. I left several messages, but they didn’t ring. Eventually I got through at about 2.30pm and she said “ Oh yes, I was just about to call you.” . After explaining the problem she said they had no audiologist in until today. That was of no use to me as my sister and brother in law were coming to stay last night, then we were all going to Leeds today to meet up with more family and have a meal to celebrate my sisters ruby wedding anniversary which was today. Without the hearing aid, I would have been unable to join in the conversation in the restaurant In the end Specsavers said that if I could come in, they would see if their technician could do anything to fix it, but they couldn’t promise anything as he might not have the part needed. It was twenty five minutes each way, but thankfully he did mend it.
We spent a nice evening with my sister and BIL last night, but she is very frail after her brain op, it is horrible to see her like that. The meal today was nice and the girls had a nice time playing with the other children

Afternoon Joan and all looking in.
So warm today and blue skies to the west but dark thundery looking clouds to the east so a split sky but still a lovely day.
I pilled up one of my carrots...named it Colin lol. Was about 4 inches long. So i washed and grated it to have with my salad for tea. Tastes really nice and totally organic even!
Joan, I have 3 hydrangea plants which never flowered last year but one is just about to flower and am so happy. The other 2 plants are smaller and no sign of any flowers. The plants are now 2 years old so not sure if they need time to mature first?
Have been making bookmarks today and daughter did a few more birthday cards I have ordered some tassels so they should look good when finished.
I made Chinese chicken wings for tea and the aroma in the kitchen like yours Joan smells wonderful. Made my dip and a bowl of salad plus a small tray of chips to do. I bought some chilli sensation crisps this order and haven't had them for donkeys so cant wait to eat at tea time.
I think a shower is imminent as the hill is fast disappearing from view but its def very warm as had the windows open all day.
Enjoy your stew & dumplings Joan.
Hope all ok with everyone else

Ty Linda. Sometimes when I speak, i do have some local accent but even after 30 years, im still English lol
When my pal came to stay, the house was spotless because I spent 2 weeks clearing daughters rubbish and shoving it all in her wardrobe and chest of drawers but i led my friend to think the house was spotless all the time lol

That was a very good interview Florence, though I thought that you would have picked up more of a Scottish accent by now :-D
We had a couple of hours of sun this af, but apart from that,it has been raining all day. I did some housework as my sister and her husband are coming tomorrow and are staying overnight. They will have Eve’s bed and she will have a fold out bed in the study. I will have to change the bedding in the morning and try and clear up all Eves junk, so they can get in the room. Then I just have the bathrooms to clean and I can relax and pretend that the house is that tidy all of the time

Well names,I am very lucky to have such incredible views here.
I dont think many of my friends down south appreciate what I have here. They crave all the shopping centres, bars etc still but as long as i can get things online, this is my home and after 30 years here wouldnt move anywhere else.
Every eve, I get the most fabulous sunsets looking out the back towards the sea on the west coast, pure magic sometimes.
If anyone is ever visiting my part of the world. you are very welcome to stop for cake and a cuppa and a blether of course :-D

Aw ty SuffolkVera, that's very kind of you to say that. I am confident at speaking so it comes quite natural to me. I chat to anyone that's listening lol
When my daughter was very ill back in 2003, I was on tv launching the blood doning appeal for Scotland, ITV & BBC. Strange I didn't feel nervous at all.
Anyway that's my 30 seconds of fame as they say! :-D

I had a listen to your broadcast Florence. It was good. You come over a lot clearer than many professional broadcasters. Some of them could win a gold medal at mumbling. Maybe you could start a new career doing podcasts from your kitchen table. Well done :-D

Florence , You could do Christmas gift labels to use up scraps as well as bookmarks. I used to do that with my scraps as well. When I worked in the charity shop I used to make both and the bookmarks were given with a book. The tags always sold as well not for much but it all helps toward the shop target. I used to put maybe 10 tags in a cello bag. Good luck with your stall at the fayre hope you sell lots.
Names , yes an interim was offered.
Been pottering in the garden this afternoon as the rain has kept away, always something to be done lol. Our forecast is rain tomorrow so housework will be done then. (Maybe).

Morning all. :-D
Well the sunshine has returned and is a lovely day here. 3 lines of washing out and drying nicely in a good breeze.
AnnG, yes very aware of people expecting goods for nothing. i have done many fayres selling Avon and even shower gels for £1.00, people would complain. I use to joke and say, same price in the pound shop but this is better quality and they soon shut up lol.
Cards is new for us but we asked a few friends who go to craft Fayres and they all say around £2.50 although as you say, they are worth more.
You have given me an idea though about making some bookmarks. I have a laminator so could easily make a few, hole punch and put some ribbon through. I have lots of scraps left over. Thankyou for that suggestion.
Daughter has gone to town for various things today and wont be home until 6.30 so I shall have some peace and quiet. i need to do my hair so at least noone will need the bathroom when i'm in it lol.
Not wanting to boast but I had my 30 seconds of fame yesterday. R4 farming today 3rd Aug episode .its on the BBC I player and I''m on 3rd at 3m 18 seconds.
They were interviewing people in rural areas about services like prescription deliveries but I was the only customer willing to be interviewed. Think it sounded ok!
Well off to do me hair now, back later on
Have a good day all

Good morning all, still coughing a bit but it is not going into a five minute choking fit at the moment so I think I am definitely better. It is dry here and 13 degrees but I think rain is forecast for later. (So what is new?)
Florence you are doing well with the cards. Have you sold them before? If so you will know that you can't sell them for what you think they are worth. People always seem to want something for nothing and are not prepared to pay for your time. Still hopefully you have a captive customer base and not too much competition. good luck with it when it comes to time to sell. If you have scraps over, are you making book marks? They seem a popular buy near to Christmas. :-)

Yes Florence sisters house was sold a while ago and everything else has been done but the HMRC and the council are holding things up . It's only paperwork about tax and a refund from the council tax but they keep saying it will posted asap but it never arrives.. That is all the Solicitor is waiting for now everything else is done. I hope the flat sells soon for you
The rockery sounds good Joan , we don't have one in the garden now but we used to many years ago Oh changed it into a fish pond as you do..lol.
Lovely that Esme enjoyed the show and took part in it.

Wow, you have been busy Joan. The rockery sounds good. I made a one about four years ago in the front. OH cut a large tree down, but the stump was left, so I piled rocks around it to create a rockery, it worked well.
Esme played with me very nicely this morning and we went to the puppet show this afternoon. It wasn’t really puppets, but three actresses doing a silly version of Midsummer Nights Dream. It sounds odd, but it was funny and aimed at very young children. The children were on cushions at the front, with the adults in a semicircle of chairs behind them. Esme always joins in, but she doesn’t usually put her hand up to volunteer to go “ on stage”. This time she did and one of the actresses chose her, she had been interacting with her before, so she said to me, I will look after her. Esme did her bit very well and was so pleased with herself afterwards
We,then went to Tesco cafe for a snack, then did the shopping. I always use the hand scanner, not the tills. Esme did all the scanning, she did very well and enjoyed it. Of course, she wanted to buy a toy, they were selling off the summer stuff, so we bought a unicorn bubble machine. She is out in the garden now with her daddy having a great time

Well done Joan on making a rockery. I did that years ago and I painted all the rocks with white paint. Mine was 3 tiers high and yes had to fill the cracks with soil but was a nice addition to my garden and I'm sure yours will look lovely when you get all your plants.
Settled on a pizza but no chips for tea as i suddenly felt crumpets wouldn't be enough lol.
Yes you do need patience with card making but its very rewarding. I do have the patience of a saint which is just as well with everything I have to deal with!
Off to switch on the tv as River City is coming on now.

Afternoon all Well the bad weather hit us this morning and has been chucking it down all day long and windy too so not a day for venturing out anywhere.
So daughter and I decided to do crack on with our card making for the fayre in November. We had a count up just now and have 66 cards so far, A mixture of birthday, blank and a few xmas cards. Next session will be xmas cards only as need to boost the stock up.,
JustGinnie, its also just a year since mum passed but its just selling her flat thats hard although we dropped the price again this week and now have 2 viewings on sat so fingers crossed.
I thought you had sold her property so what is holding up you receiving the proceeds? When the flat is sold here, the funds go to sol and then tf to me/sibling and that's it all sorted. i did have an enquiry with DWP but we sorted that awhile back.
Joan, glad you got out for awhile to town, change of scenery works wonders but as you say, its tiring on the legs walking round a supermarket. Enjoy the good weather whilst it lasts lol
Hope the puppet show went ok Linda and Esme enjoyed it. But when your daughter moves to their new house, I presume they wont expect you to carryon looking after her surely? Sounds very tiring for you.
AnnG, I made 3 scrapbooks with all of mums photos so my children will at least have some memories of her when i'm gone as they didn't get to see her often being far away.
Not sure about tea tonight, something light I think, maybe crumpets with cheese and marmite although home made soup would have been good today as its like winter now but too late to make today.
Got some sewing to do later as a pair of trousers needs a new elastic waistband and the elastic arrived today so can do that later whilst watching me soaps.
Take care all
