I do wash all new clothes especially now with everything going on. But also, i wash new bedding because its always very creased the way its folded and packed tight.

I also put lots of softener in my bedding wash as the duvet cover and sheets sometimes feel hard..

Had a lovely 3 hours with my friend and munched our way through crusty rolls, soup, muffins and choccy biscuits. We put the world to rights and all is well now lol

Horrible mist came down about an hour ago, so quickly and its feeling chilly so have put on the heating.

"Dressing?" What do you mean ZZzzz?

ZZzzz Report 12 Oct 2021 18:20

I have washed new clothes before wear for many years because of a skin condition but this new bedding has a lot of "dressing" it is ridicules.
I meant rediculas. :-(

Gwyn in Kent Report 12 Oct 2021 15:42

No, I don't wash bedding before using.

I remember my mother soaked new items before their first wash, - 'to get the dressing out', but not before use.

I wasn't aware that there is much dressing in fabric now.

If any of us had allergies or skin conditions I might pre-wash, but otherwise, no.

Not me. But I did see somewhere this morning that you should wash your new knickers and bras before wearing them, otherwise you could get nasty rashes and sores in places. :-S

Added. I’ve hunted it down and it is in the Daily Mail on line - the comments are brilliant.

ZZzzz Report 12 Oct 2021 14:43

I have bought some new bedding and I've had to wash it a couple of time to get all the "dressing" out, does anyone else do that or is it just me lol.

Aw Ann, horrid when that happens. Were you worrying about something? I often have got up walked around, had a drink then resettled. Sometimes it works.
Hope you enjoy your friend's visit.

After my friend yesterday, I did sleep better last night. Just the interaction opened my brain listening etc.

Was up before 8, muffins all done & iced and everything ready for 11.30 when another friend is coming. So lovely to see people. :-D

Hope everyone else is ok thats looking in.

Take care

Good morning all didn't sleep well last night, woke at 0415 and laid there for a while, when it was obvious I was not going to sleep I got up and wandered around, back to bed at 0515 and half slept/dozed until 0715 when I got up. I have a friend coming for coffee this morning so that will keep me awake.

Florence that was a good start to your week, I hope the rest of it will be as good. :-) :-)

Well what a surprising day! Started off as a boring , wet & windy monday morning. Put out the bins at 8am and got soaked! Still no sign of the lorry at 11am.

Sudden knock at the door and a cheery "hello". It was my good friend that i havent seen in a year due to me in isolation & her work as a carer. She was working up this way and popped in to say hello and grab a coffee with me for 1/2 hour.

I nearly cried, was so lovely to see her and have human interaction. i had forgotten what it was like to entertain.

Kitchen table full of xmas paper etc complete bouroch but she says never mind ill sit on the sofa lol.

She stayed nearly an hour and left. Bin lorry appeared in a down pour so had to don wet proof jacket and put them in the shelter as the wind was awful.

Next get a text from another work friend who is coming tom for lunch!! Eekk i said that would be lovely before getting into cooking mode making soup, tidying things away etc. Certainly kicked my backside into gear. Im making some muffins early tom morning as well. Soup is made now and always tastes better next day anyway.

Isnt it amazing how suddenly things can change your day, brighten up your life and kick the brain into gear.

Lucky i have the par bake bread rolls in my store cupboard.

So tom, up at 8am, quick shower then baking and get ready for visitor :-D :

My how the weather can turn here so quickly. First thing the sun was out and it was a beautiful Autumn morning.

My neighbour who I have been getting to know and actually get on really well, invited me out to lunch at a new cafe a few miles along the road. I had been looking forward to this all week, so hair polished and smart clothes(forgotten what they are!) I was sitting waitng . Suddenly the mist came down and the sun was gone. So I took a light rain jacket with me and so glad i did.

We had a lovely lunch, real coffee and home made brown bread sandwiches..so fresh was a real treat. By the time we left, it was lashing down!!

However with all the rain, my roses now have another set of buds on them so more flowers to come yet.

Going to plod on with my book whilst I'm in the frame of mind and see how it goes.

What's everyone else up to for the weekend?

Good afternoon from a very breezy but dry & sunny village. i think Joan you now have the awful weather we had over the weekend! Wow Edinburgh castle...im sure that will be fantastic once you have completed it. i did do a bit of scarf knitting over the weekend but keep losing interest in it...it will never get finished at this rate.

No sign of my gardener and its nearly tea time!!!I hate waiting all day for people.

Not hungry at all just now so just having cup o soups really and toast. Apetite isnt good.probably because im worrying now for the results but i have to be patient.

However, i feel i have just been left now for 2 months. My friend who is a nurse says its terrible as i could have a clot on my leg and if left untreated i could lose my leg!! That really cheered me up....but what can anyone do without the results?

Was going to make scones today but in the end my heart wasnt in it so i didnt make any..nevermind.

I have done a bit on my novel this afternoon to pass the time. Think so far ive typed over 50 pages(about 12ooo) words) so thats coming along.

have a good evening all

Wow Ann, you have been busy in your garden. I planted some lillies and other bulbs i got in the £1 shop awhile ago with the last order. Those pots are sheltered behind the bins now.

My fuschias have grown but not very tall this year for some reason. There is a lot of dead wood i left from last year so maybe will prune that when the flowers have died off.

Wow making 80 xmas cards, thats some doing but good on you. A good hobby to have and im sure the recipients will appreciate them.

Good evening all, we had a fairly pleasant morning with some sun, still very breezy though. I did an hour or so tidying the greenhouse for winter and put my basket fuchsia in there. I also planted some red tulips and some white parrot tulips and also some Tete a Tete daffodils. Tomorrow my very full garden bin will be emptied which will be a relief and I can start to fill it again I have already got a large pile waiting and need to cut down some buddleis and some more rambling rises. This afternoon I made some more Christmas cards I usually make around 80 I am about halfway there.

Good afternoon peeps.
Well after a weekend of horrid gales & rain, the sun is shining today and only a breeze. In all a lovely Autumnal day.

Yesterday, i made a start on wrapping the xmas presents i have bought so far. I found some lovely gifts on a company called The Works.
I was looking for something for my nieces aged 17 and 21 and found a set of suitcase storage sets. 2 for £10 just perfect for keeping all their bits & bobs together.
Lovely books for children and diaries also. Worth a look anyway.

My lovely grass cutter bought his car battery charger today and took out my battery and its now on charge. Hes coming to cut grass one last time tom and then take the car for a run hopefully. So I think, as a thankyou, i shall make some scones in the morning and give him some. Im sure he will appreciate that.

Hope everyone else ok? Where are you hiding Joan and hope hubby is ok.
Stay safe

Well good morning peeps from a very wet & windy isle, a really horrid day.

Yesterday went ok. I arrived at the hospital at 11am and asked if we could sit in a corner somewhere until 12.30 as we had come on the plane and couldnt do anything about the time.
They very kindly fitted me in there & then and was out just after 12. The scan went ok but i kept my eyes closed as it was a very long tube and very claustrophobic. However i took a couple of cds which toned the deafening noise down a bit and also kept me calm.

When it was over, i got dressed and asked them about the results but all they said was,it will be about 5 weeks before you hear!! Their faces gave nothing away!

So shall have to be patient now and just wait...

But we did get to the Braehead shopping centre in Glasgow, have lunch at macdonalds...the filet of fish was delicious as its 4 years since i last had one lol

Managed to Primark & m & S. I walked with my stick like a snail and just let daughter go off and buy things. I sat down lots on the benches as my legs were sore but it was a delight to have a change of scenery for a few hours.

Arrived back home about 7.30 ish.

So today, i have lots of washing and chores but im slowly working through it all.I always wash new clothes before wearing them especially now with covid etc.

So a quick cuppa and then back to it.

Hope everyone else ok today?

Wonder what made her want a photo of your house Florence. Maybe she hough you were somebody famous!!!

Sun is shining but only 8 degrees here so my winter weight jeans have come out of the wardrobe. However they have flagged up to me that I need to lose a few pounds for them to be comfortable.

Sorry Ann just seen your reply on the previous page. No she couldnt see the sea and she was actually behind my car on the drive? If these were pretty old cottages and quaint looking, i might have understood, but they were only built in April this year, so very very modern!

The only reason im still wearing my lipstick is because I cant wear a facemask. If I was to wear one, then no wouldnt bother as you say, it would just smudge.

Oh Joan, poor hubby! How upsetting for you and your daughter. Heres hoping he will recover. At least he didnt bleed and need stitches. Such a worry, not surprised you get upset, id be exactly the same.

Well today my faith has been restored in human nature. The boss of the computer company despatched his son after tea over here(about 50miles round trip) and he installed my new computer, installed the printer, the security and all the other programs i thought i would lose.I still have my office 365 hurray!

He was a young lad doing his apprentice probably about 22. He was so polite, kept his distance and put his mask on before coming in the house. It only took him 15 minutes and now...well its so fast its a pleasure to be on here lol.

The only thing i have lost is my favourites but as i go on my usual haunts, i shall save the sites and soon have my list back for quickness.

Better get off to bed now as up at 5.30am.

Thanks for your good wishes Joan.

Andys mum, maybe i should have said, would you like a picture of me too? hehe

Goodnight all

My mother used to live in a tudor cottage which was right on the road. There was no pavement so people walking past used to peer in through the windows!! Being tudor with very low ceilings it was pretty dark anyway, so she couldn't really have the curtains shut all the time.

Sometimes if the weather was nice she would walk round outside to the front and ask them if she could help?

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 28 Sep 2021 15:25

good luck tomorrow.Florence Since the wearing of masks I don't carry any lipsticks, there doesn't seem any point and it only wears off all over the mask.

Could she see the sea from where she was standing Florence, If so she may have been zoomed in and not taking your house at all. Strangely I find that although it is good manners to ask, there is no law against anyone taking a photo of your house. I have often taken pretty cottages on my travels.
