Sorry Ann just seen your reply on the previous page. No she couldnt see the sea and she was actually behind my car on the drive? If these were pretty old cottages and quaint looking, i might have understood, but they were only built in April this year, so very very modern!
The only reason im still wearing my lipstick is because I cant wear a facemask. If I was to wear one, then no wouldnt bother as you say, it would just smudge.

Oh Joan, poor hubby! How upsetting for you and your daughter. Heres hoping he will recover. At least he didnt bleed and need stitches. Such a worry, not surprised you get upset, id be exactly the same.
Well today my faith has been restored in human nature. The boss of the computer company despatched his son after tea over here(about 50miles round trip) and he installed my new computer, installed the printer, the security and all the other programs i thought i would lose.I still have my office 365 hurray!
He was a young lad doing his apprentice probably about 22. He was so polite, kept his distance and put his mask on before coming in the house. It only took him 15 minutes and now...well its so fast its a pleasure to be on here lol.
The only thing i have lost is my favourites but as i go on my usual haunts, i shall save the sites and soon have my list back for quickness.
Better get off to bed now as up at 5.30am.
Thanks for your good wishes Joan.
Andys mum, maybe i should have said, would you like a picture of me too? hehe
Goodnight all

My mother used to live in a tudor cottage which was right on the road. There was no pavement so people walking past used to peer in through the windows!! Being tudor with very low ceilings it was pretty dark anyway, so she couldn't really have the curtains shut all the time.
Sometimes if the weather was nice she would walk round outside to the front and ask them if she could help?

good luck tomorrow.Florence Since the wearing of masks I don't carry any lipsticks, there doesn't seem any point and it only wears off all over the mask.
Could she see the sea from where she was standing Florence, If so she may have been zoomed in and not taking your house at all. Strangely I find that although it is good manners to ask, there is no law against anyone taking a photo of your house. I have often taken pretty cottages on my travels.

Well I've seen it all now! Just happened to be near my lounge window, when I saw a tourist complete with rucksack and a Nikon type of camera taking pictures of mine and neighbours houses!I opened the window and gestured for her to go away and no no pointing at the camera. She quickly scuttled off up the road .
Taking a picture of the scenery across the road is fine but she came inside our service road!!! We have enough problems with blooming camper vans leaving all their rubbish everywhere except a bin!
Dreadful clap of thunder about 11.15pm gave me such a fright last night.I have never heard anything like it in my life. There were flashes of lightening as well but didn't see any thankfully.
It hasn't stopped raining all day and the sky is very dark too.
Handbag all cleaned out for trip on plane Tom.Only 2 lipsticks lol took out the other 5!
Hope everyone else doing ok

JG Thank you for the info, I will no doubt get it done eventually. Problem is it is only 4+ years since we had the bathroom done with new bath etc and all new tiling so feel it will be a waste to have it done yet. Not that I ever use the bath we stopped using it when OH got stuck and had a problem getting out.

We had rain this morning and think it will be on and off this afternoon, not cold just a tad cooler that last week.
Florence we have gone with grey and white cupboards and the bath mats are dark grey. The new wall panels are white with a tiny silver fleck (almost invisible) . All our other things towels etc will fit in with the grey .
Ann we also only had a shower over the bath which was why we changed . It took 3 days from start to finish. No tiling to do as we had the wall panels fitted instead so no grouting to do or keep clean. If you have a nice sized bathroom it could be done in a day or two. Ours is an odd shape and small so we had to have the cubicle made and pipework moved. We are very pleased with it.

good morning all. showery here but seems to only be rain in the wind, not enough to revive the garden. I think it is saving that for tomorrow when I have to walk to the dentist, Not worth taking the car if it is raining as I would still get wet walking from where it has to park. But mainly because I never drive after having the injections because they make me feel 'spaced out'. I have injections (several) one side at a visit for a really deep clean, not painful but very uncomfortable.
For the second time in 6 months I have to throw out a sheet because it has split, material rotten. This time a fitted sheet last time a flat sheet. I always try and rotate the fitted sheets but this one has gone right where I lay under my upper back/side. Another one for cat rescue to use as rags. I think my sheets are quite old, can't remember the last time I bought any.
Nothing planned for today so wait and see what occurs.
Florence that is good that you have transport sorted. Well done. and your chicken dish sounds lovely
Just Ginnie, I keep thinking about having the bath removed for a separate shower but then think of the upheaval. At the moment i have an over the bath shower.
Joan, you will be lost with the garden all completed. Still until the bad weather you will be able to potter out there.

Hi everyone, The last week has been lovely with warm sunny days. The washing has been done and dried outside. We have had the bath removed and a shower put in now looking for some new accessories to finish off 'the look'.
OH had his results from the last test he had and Dr. is very pleased as all the blood, liver and kidney results have gone to a good level. Relieved is an understatement.
Stay well and happy. :-D :-D

Good afternoon from a very wet & windy isle.
The weather last few days has just been extremely depressing and wish the nice Autumnal weather would come with some sunshine.
I have spent nearly all day on this computer, rebooting & cleaning etc and have decided the hardrive is finished..just about so tomorrow shall be ringing the shop where i bought this one 7 years ago to but a new one.
It was a freebie i think when son was doing his work placement so has done me ok.
Waiting 15 minutes before i could use the internet was infuriating although at the moment, its now working again!!
Have bought 1/2 my xmas presents now, so im going to wrap some during next week and get organised. I think i shall be posting cards much earlier too going by the post arriving here. Ist class from the mainland is taking over a week!!
Otherwise, very quiet here just now. Not hearing from friends or family. I guess they are all busy with their own lives!
Hope everyone else is well

Good evening everybody who looks in. The gale subsided but has still been very windy and not a nice day. I opened the back door for some fresh air this afternoon and nearly got blown away!
I have a scarf Joan that i started last year that needs finishing so trying to find the enthusiasm to get on with it. I was on a company called The Works. i came across art & craft things plus some reasonably priced wool.
I found a glorious colour like a burnt orange/cinnamon which would look nice with black made into a scarf for myself so thats project October no 2. I had also started to crochet a huge blanket 2 years ago that would either cover the sofa or act as an extra blanket on a single bed if its really cold so that needs finishing too.
I have to say, Im quite terrible for starting lots of jobs at once and then flit between them to finish off!
Managed a bit of ironing earlier but my leg is really aching today so didnt do much apart from some dusting. I did make a very tasty chicken Bolognaise from scratch and no jar of sauce. Just used chopped tin of tomatoes, tom puree, garlic and mushrooms with shredded chicken. Lots of black pepper. Was very tasty served with spaghetti. There is enough left over for another day too, so thats going in the freezer.
Patient travel tel and everything agreed and sorted so one less thing to deal with now.
Im off to relax on the sofa now and chill with the tv.
Take care Florence in the hebrides

Afternoon all Rang patient travel to book my flight for next wed. Gave the lady all my details etc and said i would need an escort to assist me. She then said the rules had changed and had to email me a request form which goes to the director of the health board and he makes a decision based on the evidence i provide as to whether i qualify for an escort.
So I received it and downloaded it after i had to convert the forms(4 pages) to a PDF.What a palava!!! Eventually completed it and then sent via email as an attachment. Now awaiting the outcome. The lady said they may contact my GP or hospital for them to confirm how disabled I am.
I guess its cutting down on those that get an escort when not really needed so they get an afternoon shopping before heading back to the airport!!
Anyway i have my last PIP form that scores me 12 on mobility.
After that had online Tesco shop for Thursday to do, and return some items that i ordered for xmas that are far too small.
All the paperwork today took up most of the morning sitting at the PC, but all done now. My fingers were aching from all the typing etc.
Joan you should be very proud of all you have done gardening wise this year. What an achievement for you. Well done. Hope you will now relax a bit more and enjoy the autumn weather. Gales here today and getting worse tonight but actually dry and sunny! Washing would be in Aberdeen if i hung it out today lol
Well i need to stretch my legs and make a coffee and quite stiff sitting all this time.
Stay safe everyone

Good morning all although the weather here is awful.Foggy and raining so a day indoors. Daughter's birthday hamper has just arrived although several days late, but she loved it. The plant was smaller than it looked but at least it had been well watered and so was still quite fresh.
A day of housework, stripping beds and washing etc plus some paperwork to catch up on. Hope everyone else is well.

Oh my Dermot, cannot believe what I have just read!! This thread is for anyone to have a chit chat about anything in general. You know, the weather, gardening, just what people are up to on a daily basis. Any topic that requires a full discussion such as Abortion should be put on a separate thread of your own not here.
Abortion is a delicate subject at any time but seeing as this news item isn't about UK law,not sure why it would be of much interest to most folks over here.
Although I started this thread,I have created other threads where I feel a topical thread is required and suggest you do likewise with whatever discussion you want about Abortion law in Texas.

Given the nature of what is usually discussed on this thread I did’t think it was the place for your Texas topic.

Dermot, this isn’t the thread for a discussion on the new Texas law. There are a lot of things going on in the world which do not raise an awful lot of interest in th UK, let alone on these boards.

Aw Joan, gosh 30 years that is a long time ago.Was she quite young when she passed?
Wish we had some sunny dry weather for a change, but with the Autumn Equinox next week, it will continue to be windy until thats passed.
Managed to get everything done now and table all set. Found a couple of little bottles of sparkly in the cupboard and put in fridge. I havent had a drink in 2 years but just might have a wee sip later. Was told my meds wouldnt agree with more than 2 glasses of any alcoholic drink so 1/2 a glass should be ok.
Hope you manage to get the rest of your leaves all piled up Joan. Take care Florence in the hebrides

Good afternoon peeps. Well its still stormy here and pretty dire! I cant get out to rescue my pots so they are getting a bashing! Post finally came after none all week and guess what? daughters birthday hamper did not arrive. I am furious as I organised this on the 26 Aug in plenty of time. So I tel the company and they said, sorry probably will arrive tomorrow but its on its way! He offered me a 15 percent of my next order. I told the guy if that hamper doesnt arrive tom, you will be refunding me in full and seeing as you cant guarantee any arrivals, then i wont be ordering anymore from you.
He then said, enjoy the rest of your day grrrr I am so upset as this was her main present but nothing i can do about it.
But i did get my appointment for MRI scan. Its 29 sep at 12.30 so thats a good thing.
Better go and lay the table ready for later.
