Oh dear Florence, I think getting the paramedics to check him over is a very good idea, Hopefully he will let his carer ring them, or 111 so they can decide what to do

Oh dear. That is not good news. Could you persuade him to ring 111 for advice?

So sorry to read this Florence. It's so hard for you being so far away.
Would he allow paramedics to come and visit, as they can do so many checks in your own home now? A GP can only do so much and would probably not have the equipment to perform diagnostic tests, but as your Dad is of clear mind, I know his wishes must be considered, Such a difficult line to let him do things his way. Thinking of you and hoping you can be reassured that he has the right care <3

Afternoon everyone looking in. I got a call from dad late last night and as I suspected, all is not well! He told me, he is short of breath as soon as stands up and struggles to walk to another room. He also has the same pain he had when he took the heart attack.
I looked up these symptoms and its possible the stent has caught another major vessel cutting off the O2. He says he will tel his GP on Monday but I think he needs to go back to hospital and get an Echocardiogram to see if the stent is in the correct place etc.
Dad being dad said he will be fine and will ring me later!! he is very stubborn and wont have me tell him what he needs to do but also, he doesn't want back to hospital, he absolutely hated it! So it has to be his decision but it's worrying me something terrible as he will have another heart attack. His carer is treading very carefully so as to not upset him and that is difficult for him too.
Hopefully he will phone earlier tonight and then see what the situation is.
Hope everyone else is ok today.
I'm just on eggshells and trying to keep myself busy tidying up.
Shall be back later if I have any news

Don’t forget, Florence, your Dad has had a major shock ( not the electrical one) so as well as the anaesthetic. He had already been pulled around, had holes dug in him, not slept and not eaten properly.
And to add to that, he is probably a bit frightened.
After I had my knee done it took me ages to get my sleeping patterns back.
As the days go on he is likely to see little changes.
Hope all those stuck in hospital or just home get better

So sorry to read of OH's fall and hospital stay Joan. I can imagine how much you miss him and will worry until he is home. I hope a new day brings better news, when you have an update. I'll be thinking of you both <3
Florence, I hope Dad's appetite picks up and he settles into his home life once more. Hospitals can be so tiring, as apart from the actual op. and recovery, there is always someone's buzzer sounding or a nurse coming to take a temperature or administer medication at silly-o'clock ! Home will be more restful. I hope he makes good progress.
Last week of term here. The local primary school breaks up this Friday. I will go in later in the week to see them in my Christmas jumper and help out, when the staff wait on all the children, when they all sit down together for Christmas dinner.

No news on the house apart from the fact that the one we were going to buy is back on the market today. So it is just a question of who gets a buyer first. If we get one, we can continue with the purchase. If they get one first, we will lose it. I don’t think either of us will have any luck until the new year when people start looking again. I got several Xmas cards today, I think they must have been holding them back. In amongst them was a very nice card from our buyers apologising for letting us down. They did that as this is the second time they have had their chain collapse this year that they are not going to relist their house until after the winter.
I have been watching Strictly as well, I think Annabelle will leave tonight.

Evening everyone Aw Joan poor hubby but he's getting the right attention and so hope the infection clears soon. Will you go with your daughter tomorrow to see him as think that will boost your spirits seeing him but glad he tel you.
JustGinnie, so glad your OH got home albeit a long journey home! Im sure your home cooking will soon boost him back up and he will put back the weight he lost. Glad all went well.
My dad is actually very down and tired as I think now he's home the reality of what happened has dawned on him and he feels his chest sore where they did the procedure. His arm is black and blue from wrist to upper arm. he says he's not going out this side of New Year and doesn't seem too bothered! That isn't like him at all but his cupboards and freezer are full of tins and frozen food so he won't go hungry, he just doesn't have any appetite. This feeling will pass as I felt like this when I had my heart surgery but took a few days to pass.
Linda, any word on the house front today?
It's been a damp day and felt cold to me although was 7 degrees so heating went on early afternoon.
Watching Strictly just now.
Nite all

I am really pleased that your husband is home Ginnie. I hope that he will get better every day. Would it be possible for one of your children to take you in to see your husband Joan? It must be really strange for you being on your own, when you have been so used to looking after him. It is very windy here with lots of rain. I hope it isn’t as bad for you, so you can get a good nights sleep

Afternoon all, hoping all is ok with you all.
Joan I am so sorry to hear that your OH has had to go into hospital it is a worrying time for you and your family. I hope he will soon feel a little better with the transfusion happening . Sending you both my best wishes.
Florence, AnnG and Linda hope all is ok with you whatever is happening where you live with the weather. A few dry days would be nice wouldn't it.
My OH came home Thursday evening at long last. They phoned me at 10.30 am and said he was coming home, they had arranged for patient transport so we didn't know how long it would take, he left hospital at 8pm and finally got home at 9.30 pm. so he was in the ambulance for a long time as other patients were dropped off 1st. He lost a fair bit of weight as well which he didn't need to as he a skinny chap anyway. He came home with a large back of tablets etc as they have now put him on injections for insulin so the nurse has been in to show him how to inject himself . Apart from the that he is doing well with his exercises and doing things for himself. Onwards and upwards we hope from now on.
Ginnie

hello girls. Thankyou Linda, Florence & Ann, for you kind words for both my hubby & myself. I am ok ! but I suddenly feel so old now that hubby is in the hospital & I'm not doing the various things for him when he's at home.
Our daughter has gone over to the hospital again today so I won't get an update until she gets back, hubby did phone just before dinner time & we had a wee chat, he sounded sooo weary, & pining for home, I can't see that happening for a while, as he has a nasty wound re the cancer & a serious infection. I don't know what to do with myself, just trying to take things easy & not to worry too much but that's not easy. I would like to go outside & finish up some of the jobs needing done as that would help pass the time but it continues to rain without any let up, getting a lot of my crosstitching done though & for a wee while it takes my mind off other things.
Florence I hope you are feeling better. Linda any more news re your house move etc, I really feel for you re the changes that have happened.
Hoping all is well with you all, take care, & thanks again.
Off to see what to make for my tea, probably something simple like fish fingers, not the sort of thing I / we are used to, LOL. Bye for now.
Joan.

I was looking in to see if there was any news of Joan’s husband, I do hope everything is alright
It is another dreadful day, the rain is still pouring down. We went to the local town twelve miles away as I had something to collect from Argos. The fields were very flooded. In some places the water running off the fields had completely covered the road. The worst problem was some of the Reginald Mole husband drivers who were absolutely crawling along. On the way back we followed one woman who did 25 mph for miles in the 60 limit. While I appreciate that it was raining, she had built up a massive queue of traffic behind her. Some people really don’t know when it is time to hand their licence in :-(

Yes I did watch it. Quite awful especially the chicken feet eeek! Thought provoking I guess, but I wouldn't want to dine there.
I think maybe Cassie but the ginger haired lad Tom is good too...sooo hard. I wonder what they will be cooking tonight? But it will be back in the MC kitchen and probably a meal of their choice, something personal to them maybe.
Joan if you do look in, hope everything is ok with hubby

Afternoon all
Oh Joan, Reading through your news, I felt sad for you because of what hubby had to endure. Its heart breaking when people don't comply with your needs isn't. You just want what's best for your family . Hubby would have been confused as he isnt used to leaving the house anymore and with a lack of blood, he would have not been himself.
I hope the transfusion has lifted him and also that he gets whatever medication he needs. Being at home just waiting for a phone call is so hard but I hope you are eating and keeping warm yourself.
Yesterdays storm here has passed over but now a damp overcast day with no wind!
I got word yesterday from our new estate agent, we have a viewing on Saturday at 9.30. Fingers crossed that they make an offer! Hope you OH Linda sorted out your estate agents!
Daughter went for her Covid Booster this afternoon, so hoping it doesn't affect her later re her blood sugars. She's getting a pizza for our Fri tea which will be yummy.
Masterchef final tonight BBC1
Just a day pottering and having a declutter in the kitchen. Things build up in the corner and on the table but they are there no more....
Need a coffee now as my fingers are getting cold and need to put on the heating.
Stay cosy all

Oh dear Joan, I am so sorry to hear about your husband, you must be so worried. I guess that they will want to keep him in until he is less confused and they can assess his mobility problems.
It is cold today, but much better than yesterday when the rain was torrential. We went to Ripon cathedral for Eve’s school carol concert, she is in the choir. We had lunch in a cafe first and had intended to do some shopping, but it was far too wet to walk around, so we just went to the cathedral early and sat in there. Afterwards we went back to my daughters for dinner. I was glad when we finally got back home as driving in the rain was difficult.
I got all the cards ready for posting this morning, had to alter the insert giving everyone our new address As OH passed the estate agents, he noticed that a week after our house went back on the market, it still had a large red SSTC sticker across it in their window, so he wasn’t pleased about that.

Joan sorry to read all the problems with hubby but hopefully after the transfusion he will be a bit better than he was. It is all such a worry for you. Luckily your daughter was able to be with him in hospital, that must have been a comfort for you. I hope that by now you will have been told what is happening. will they keep him in a couple of days I wonder? Or send him home?
You look after yourself and make sure you are eating and keeping warm. <3

Hello to all, sorry not to have added to the thread recently. Hubby has not been his best for a few days & on Sunday night he fell in his room, our daughter & her hubby managed to get him back into his recliner. Hubby was fine, no damage, he was just glad to be off the floor & secure in his chair.
Our son had a rranged to come over from Forres & he felt hubby should be checked over & reluctantly hubby agrreed to the nurse calling in, she checked him over & said all looked ok but whilst she was here she took some blood from him. Results showed severely anaemic & should have a transfusion, well that cused such a rumpus, hubby not wanting to travel some distance to our main hospital.
He is very frail & he has great difficulty walking, but he relented & agreed to go. Next morning at 9-30 am we got a call to say an ambulance had been arranged to collect hubby within about 2 hrs, great, daughter & me were in Morisons doing the grocery shop, so we had to make a dash round the store etc to get home in time so as to pack his bag & break the news to hubby, we hadn't been expecting this to happen so quickly !!
Just before 2-00pm we got a call to say hubby had been upgraded from "ordinary" patient to a priority case, he should have been listed as priority at the start !! Ambulance arrived at 2-30pm, & things didn't go easily, having told them the easiest way to leave the house etc they decided not to "comply".
Our house is just a very old, typical small Scottish country cottage, so not a lot of room to manovure, anyway they made a start on getting hubby into the chair & he fell before he got into it, nightmare. Eventually he was 2safely" in the chair & after a slow journey he was at the bottom of the stairs, the front door is closest & widest but no they said they would weave their way through 4 doorways & down 2 steps rather than go out the front way, I was not happy.
Our daughter foloowed the ambulance to the hospital over an hour away,& spent the rest of the day & iup until 9-30pm with hubby. He went directly to the ward as soon as he arrived & during the night he had his transfusion.
Ourdaughter phoned me this morning to update me & to say she was on her way back to the hospital so as to talk to the Dr's/staff as hubby was a bit confused when he was trying to tell her about what was happening !
He is not happy to acept various treatments for his conditions ( cancer & heart condition ) & that is because of his serious mobility problems ! he just feels if his legs can't be cured then there's no point doing anyting else ! Just not sure what's going to happen now, waiting patiently to hear from daughter about what might have been discussed.
Oh my goodness what a looong thread, sorry about that.
I hope things are going ok for all of you, & that you didn't have the storm that we had last night, the wind was terrible & the rain was ongoing all yesterday both through the day & all of last night, the banging against the front windows was horrendous, still raining today.
Bye for now, do take care.
Joan.

Morning all looking in.
Wet and stormy here today so a complete contrast to the last few days. However the temp has risen so not as cold which is good.
Need to do some ironing today as it has become a mountain! I do feel better just wish it would do one now as im getting fed up with this coughing, so tiring!
Dad got home but not without a few problems. They said he could go at 4pm but....patient travel couldnt take him home until 10pm!!!
So he tel his carer who works until 6pm but he got delayed and didnt arrive at the hospital until 8pm so as you can imagine, dad's patience was running out. However about 9pm, he was safely back in his own home enjoying a cup of his herbal tea.
He sounded so tired so we didnt chat long as he was wanting his bed.
Fingers crossed for your OH JG, so hope he gets home today.
Linda, your poor OH must have been bored. You really are in limbo just now with your house sale etc and right on top on xmas. Hoping you get good news soon.
Joan, if you are looking in, hope all is well with you & hubby, keeping warm.
Well Ive finished me coffee so better make a slow start on the chores and se what I can achieve today. Hate the place getting untidy and undusted!
Take care all
