Great news for genealogists who are waiting to access the 1921 census!

FMP's contract will expire at the end of this month. Ancestry will publish it.

:-D :-D

I can't see it being free, it costs too much to get such records on-line, just like FMP, Ancestry will need to recoup some of those costs !

The 1931 census for England and Wales was destroyed in WW2.

There was no census in 1941 because of WW2

The 1939 Register fills the gap to some extent, for England and Wales.
The 1939 Register for Scotland isn't searchable online.

The 1931 census for Scotland was not destroyed, and should be released on Scotland's People in 2031.

I hope I'm still able to do family tree stuff by then, as it may give me another chance to find the whereabouts of my elusive great-aunt Edith, whom I haven't found anywhere after 1911.

Sadly it was destroyed during WW2

Search on Wikipedia 1931 United Kingdom census

There was no census in 1941 due to the war but the Government took a sort of census in the form of the 1939 register in order to issue identity cards and ration coupon books.
