Hi Brenda and dorothy, well ,it depends on what reception you have at the moment.
If you are onvirgin broadband ,or you have a digibox ,or sky,you don't need to update your t.v,and your old recorders /players will chunter on quite happily with the old t.v
Only if you are recieving transmittions direct to your tv will you need to update it,because the signal format is changing.
It's all a dastardly plot on the medias part to make us public pay through the nose for something that's worked well for years, legalised robbery to prop up a failing industry grrrrrrrr.
Ten years down the line ,they will change it all again ,and the cycle will repeat itself ,the media companies coining it in ,while the poor public get poorer.
I am having a lazy day today,Liz is heating home made soup for dinnerand i have just ordered the new fire online for the front room
I am taking the gas fire out of the sitting room, and replacing it with an electric stove with the log ,flame effect.
This is so that i can keep Liz warm if the gas fails,i have really spoilt her by putting in a false fireplace in the main bedroom, with a coal effect flame fire in the middle, but Hey ,the old lass is well worth it,she can sit up in bed now ,and keep warm ,with a book, and a cheery coal fire to look at .
We should klnow within two days ,if the bungalow is a go,and if it is i will have to get my skates on and organise a van for the removal, but i will have to get my brother in law to help as Martin is on a shoot up in Scotland that day, going after a nice deer for the freezer.
Off for my soup now peeps ,be back in a little while lol.Fred.

goodmorning well we missed most of the snow last night though it is all around the area just a sprinkling though we are still under a snow warning but the sky is high and blue and the sun is shining. just had a contact from gene's re a rellie from 1812 so will update the info on the tree I really have to get cracking and put my grandma on my dad's side stuff all to-gether in book form I have pages of stuff just have not got around to it. then of course I have to pull to-gether all my mom's side. then I have pages of stuff on the birth mothers side of course that will be the last to pull to-gether I still find it almost laughable /cryable that I was 62 before I found out I was adopted I have also put off taking the very tiny photo of the birth mother that I recieved while in england to see if it can be blown up I guess I find it very strange to look at though I have to say we do look alike and the half brother agreed gave him a shock I guess to look at me anyway enough about that hope that you all have a good week-end and fred I do hope your son gets the house take care bye dorothy

Morning Dorothy ,Brenda ,Edith ,and anyone else who happens by.I found the new fire on the net yesterday,a lovely little wood effect stove ,that will look lovely in the brick built fireplace in the front room, and saved fifty pounds ordering it straight from Dimplex, deilery free.
Once fitted ,it will give us two rooms in the house with alternative heat source in case of a gas cut,the bedroom already having a fire place with a coal effect fire.
What with that ,the new convection oven ,combined micro wave Fred is going to be a busy bunny this Christmas fitting all these chrissie presents lol,but ,what the heck,i ain't got now't else to do.
I have five survivers of my rose cuttings to put out into the garden today,so that they get used to thier quarters before the bad weather hits.
The daughter in law has passed her credit check for the bungalow,so all we are waiting for is the sons, and then hopefully i will have my house back lol.Have to go to town this morning to return my christmas slippers for a bigger pair hee hee,my old ones are on their last legs.
Off to get my breakfast ,beans on toast this morning, have a great day all.Fred.

goodmorning everyone well we missed the snow again last night just a little sprinklin g which is melting as we or I type, brenda this band you are excited about do they have a name that I might know sounds like fun, my friends and I over here have followed a band called par three for over 30 yrs and it is funny they just seem to get better as they age, andrew refers to me as my mother the groupie not really true we know there families very well, and I looked after some of the children whne they came into hospital. fred you are as always a very busy man hope the credit checks work out and that the family get moved soon it will be great for all of you, to-day theyboys were coming over but the oldest one called last night to say one of his friends had invited over would I mind if he went, stood up by a 12yr old I ask you of course I said it was allright, but Ian is still coming he asked for shepherds pie for is supper it is his favourite when he comes to grandmas so we will have fun he is great company. I do not envy andrew and lindy five 11yr old girls giggling and staying up late last year they made it to 3am andrew was shatterd well that is it for me have a great day bye for now dorothy

Brenda Report 17 Nov 2007 15:57

badger Report 18 Nov 2007 10:42

Hey ,that steak and kidney pie does sound good,it's nice with shortcrust pasrty ,or suet ,done as a pudding ,either steamed ,or done in the oven.Liz has even cheated once or twice ,and put the meat in a dish, and added a few cheese scones to the top ,and done it as a cobbler.i'm sure the pie was a success.
The brood are due back today, hopefully the last week they are here[sighs of relief from us both],so ,i am doing beef,in the oven with a layer of water lapping the bottom of the meat ,to keep it tender and moist, doing yorkshires, roast tatties and parsnips, steamed sweede and cabbage ,with baton carrots, all done in a beef gravy, that should warm them up after the cold trip home ,lol.
We thought we were due snow last night ,but although it got very cold ,the snow didn't come [yet ]lol.
The cat has been following me round all morning and sniffing the air,hee hee,no good cat ,beef is for humans only ,you have a ruddy cheek anyway fir ball, after i treated you to red salmon ,left over from last nights tea, huh, whatever next .
She is now down to two meals a day ,morning and evening and is some size for a half grown moggy,i may even get a saddle so that Liz can ride her to the shop hee hee.
Have to go now ,to check the dinner, see you all later.Fred.

Hi all,
Well I made a huge pan of thick pea soup yesterday, so thick you can cut iut with a knife! I didn't add the smoked sausage but when I heat a portion for dinner will heat one then. I have frozen 8 meals in. Johan and I had the last portion of that I made last year during the week for lunch. It was so cold outside that the pea soup went down a treat at lunch time.
Johan has just labelled all the portions for me whilst I take it easy.
We love pea soup, but it takes so long to make, even with Johan helping me cut up the vegetables. Anyway we now have 8 easy meals.
I have a busy week coming up. Tomorrow I begin taking my tablets and Tuesday mustn't eat after 18.00 hours as I have a bowel examination on Wednesday, in the afternoon at 15.00, Gosh I will be very hungry as I will not have eaten since 18.00 hours on Tuesday.
On Thursday they are putting a catheter into my bladder. Anyway, this time next week it will be over.

Hope the sleep over went well Dorothy ,and that the family get the ok for the house Fred.
Sylvia my friend is having some poylps removed on Saturday, she has not to eat for 48hours before hand and nothing to drink for 12.!!!

Hi folks [and meercat if she happens to look in]
The news issssss good, the house[bungalow is def theirs subject only to orange confirming that Stephen does work for them.
This means that if orange confirm by tomorrow they will move this week and if not ,it will be next but wat the 'eck, another seven days i can put up with [just] hee hee.
The long awaited microwave /convection oven arrived a few minutes ago,so that will be just the biz' when we have the house back, and the newoven will be handy to have when we have company, the hobis still in good order and is gas ,which means that if we lose either power sources we can still rustle up a meal.
All we need now for a cosy Christmas is the new log effect fire to arrive, that gives us a flame effect for making the lounge look nice .cosy and warm, and we have two rooms in the house we can still keep warm in case of loosing a gas supply.
I have two gas heaters in the shed as a last resort ,but i don't like gas bottles in the houseunless they are really needed ,like this last winter when the combie gave up the ghost[rest in peace] after keeping the house warm and snug for 25 years.
The old hoover washing machine will be next to go ,it is starting to make odd noises after doing a wash a day for the last three months, but seeing as the poor thing has been with us for 14 years ,i think it has done us proud, but the last three months has been a bit too much for the old pensioner she is lol.
In all that time it has never given any trouble ,not even a blown fuse, some record for any washing machine.
What a terrible day this is ,still raining and rather cold, still we are lucky i suppose ,a lot have had snow.
Have to go ,i smell bubble and squeak ,with an egg i hope.

See ya later,Fred ,[hanging out the promised flags] hee hee

hi everyone my goodness after reading the last few entries my mouth is watering all the lovley menu's, oh fred I am so pleased for you and the missus you are getting your home back, no wonder the washing machine is making noises it will be happy for the rest as well. the overnight visit with Ian went well and the shepherds pie went down well we had a lot of fun, I got up at six this am so sure that one of the tv stations would carry the anniversary service but to my shock it was only shown in bits and pieces but what I saw looked great, I am a royalist of the title not always the person but I do believe that the country and the commonwealth have been very lucky to have the queen, for those of you who don't agree you are entitled to your opinion I just don't want to hear it. brenda you would have been most welcome for tea you have a doctors visit coming up don't you, sylvia good luck with all the tests coming up, I am off for the flue shot to-morrow since the heart attack I have to have it every year, though when I was nursing we had to have it as well, also had a one time pneaumonia shot, the son and heir is up in the clouds again going down to halifax and the eastern provinces for the week I think that it is his last trip this year, has to keep in touch with his employee's so to-day I am having a lazy day then helping with the children later this evening one has floor hockey and the others have something so I hold the fort while lindy ferries them hither and yon so I must close bye for now dorothy

Hi everyone, glad you have some ending in sight for your nice cosy house full.
Dorothy I have an appointment on Friday at the hospital and I am hoping they say they will take me in and take out my gall bladder ,but it would have to be after my holidays now.
My ex mother in law sadly died yesterday ,so I am going to the funeral on Monday. She was 84 and broke her hip 6 weeks ago,she had an operation which was said to help her or she would die within a couple of days but the op was very risky anyway. She got through the op but after a few days started to go down and just did not recover.
My son is upset even at 32 ,he does have an half sister but no cousins on that side.
Nearly time for lunch
