badger Report 28 Dec 2007 08:29

Morning all ,from a very windy Newcastle [still]
Sorry to hear you are still under the weather Brenda,i do hope this bug will go away in time for you to enjoy the new year.
Liz and i got away with it for the first time in years, she ,only starting to get the sniffles last night ,and me still okay [so far],and liz has the in stock antibiotics on hand just in case it turns nasty and effects her breathing.
We are off to the metro centre later on to get Seans skiing stuff together ready for his flight to Canada and THAT holiday of a lifetime.
I will have a look down there too ,for a small frozen turkey for new yearsa day ,seeing as we have the whole family coming for dinner and tea.
Aldi have som nice birds in,a blast frozen variety which won't be full of water when thawed.
We were back to normal fare yesterday, having a small bowl of broth made from the remains of the turkey and beef ,done in a huge pan with a little pearl barley, diced carrots and potato.a few peas some chopped leek and a little sweede.,and once the pan had cooled ,the rerst went into the freezer to do us some meals when it gets really cold .
Tea was a kedgerie made with a piece of smoked haddock three chopped eggs ,and some long grain rice mixed with a little tumeric for colour, which went down very well.
Off now to sort out all the discs upstairs with old photos on ,ready to get them onto the photoframe Sean bought us for christmas, that old cardreader we bought at the poundshop is now going to come in handy,as it will handle the 4 gig card in the back of the frame lol,my built in card reader won't look at a card that size, but maybe when i put the new hewlet packard printer in ,that will be okay to use.
The old epsom, although still working really well ,is getting dated and vista won't support it,which means ,if something happens to the old insperon puter ,everything will come to a grinding halt he he.
Well folks ,i cheated for my christmas scene ,lol, being no snow here ,i nicked the photo Edith Clace sent out as a screensaver[sorry Edith,]but ,when needs must lol.
Off now to get ready to go out ,be back later.Badger.

goodmorning one and all fred as usual your talk of food makes my mouth water, you said that you thought sean may be coming to ski in ontario, in barrie which is my home in ontario we have several ski resorts, blue mountain in collingwood and snow valley plus others if he does come there the snow is good it has a good base and the runs have been very busy over the holidays they are looking foreward to a good season more snow is forecast for to-day and a storm is heading up from the states which will bring more, hope you enjoy your photoframe it was a popular gift this year I gave lindy and andrew one a kodak one, and they bought andrew's father one as well. it is nice to see the photo's moving along. brenda and family I hope that you recover soon it is not much fun when the whole household have it. all quiet on the family front for me as andrew and bryan are in niagra falls for the three day hockey tournement. lindy and the other two will be having day trips to the ski hills ian is old enough to do snow boarding this year he is looking foreward to it, he is a good ski-ier but has this attitude after you have gone done the hills a few times lets go home its cold. done that don't see the need to keep doing it all day, maybe I will make a tennis player out of him yet. bye for now dorothy

Today is my dads birthday ,he is 81,he has had plenty of visitors all week and today was no exception. He was given one of those photo frames as well and is very taken with it indeed.
Margaret one of Johns neices is coming to Nz next month I am not sure where, her boyfriends uncle lives there and they are hoping to see if it sits them with a veiw to emigrating ,I will let you know where when I find out,Dorothy my nephew was working at a ski/snowboard holiday place in Canada last year I will find out where he was.My sister went over there for a holiday as they ski as well.

Morning everyone, well ,the new year will now be a nice quiet one in this household ,Liz being in bed now with the flu virus,on steroids and antibiotics which we have to keep on hand for her.
Now all i have to do is get her to start them earlier instead of waiting until she is bunged up with fluid in her lungs,i think it's about time i put my foot dawn,so next time ,i will force feed her them ,if she won't take them as she should.
Only trouble with waiting too long is ,it takes so much more time for her chest to clear up,silly woman.
I have told her she has only left it so long so that she dosn't have to make the christmas pudding new years eve, lol.i will be making it for the first time ,heeeeelp, give me the main course any time,he he ,i will probably land up with a finger jammed in the mixer.,which is a big one ,with a half horse power motor, big enough to make a mess of anyones hand i reckon.
Yes the new photo frame is great ,i set ours to change pictures every few seconds, and have all the old family photos on it,the wife was worried that i would overfill the card ,i ask you lol,a four meg card,i havn't got enough photos on the puter,or anywhere else to half fill it lol.
I have put off the family new year get together ,with Liz suffering so much with the head ,i thought it advisable, bad enough with screaming kids, without the whinging son in law we have he he.
Have to do a shoot now ,but can come back later after a bit of housework ,and taking the boss her next tablets up with a cuppa to wash them down with.
Be back in a while.Fred.

Hi Everyone,,been to the sales to see what was left ,John got two great sweatshirts and a sort of hooded sweatshirt for his brothers birthday tomorrow. All I got was a new icecream scoop. We needed a smaller scoop as the one we had got lost and the serving spoon that is normally used is way too big for the small bowls we now use.
Hope you all enjoy the new year festivities however you celebrate.

hi well the family dinner is over it went down well they ate pretty well everything, and the place looks like a herd of elephants went through it.I think the children played in every room, I have a three bedroom place and they hit them all. but I shall tidy up to-morrow and start the new year off with a clean place, andrew finally got my dvd working I hope I remember all he taught me, so that will be fun glad you did well in the sales brenda at least I should say john did. I am now going to put my feet up and have a nice glass of wine if there is any left, but I did enjoy the day nothing like families, they are going skiing to-morrow so I hope they have a nice day for it bye for now dorothy

On my lunch at work so have been able to book on a pc as it is so quiete.Or it would be apart from four yobbos sat at the table supposed to be reading the papers ,their phones keep going off at the highest sound they have I think. They will be asked to leave shortly if they do not turn them off soon. None of them are members and are just wasting time by the look of things.

Wishing all on FNWs a happy blessed New Year and 2008

I come bearing not the best of news

Badger asked me to say sorry that he cannot wish you a Happy New Year himself. It has not been teh best of starts for him and Liz

I have copied below from his email

I won't be going on line for a couple of days after being called to the R V I hospital at 7 this morning by the bro' in law.
My sister in law who i mentioned as having lukemia collapsed at home yesterday, and was rushed into the itu unit.
The doctors say she will be unlikely to last the day out which is such a shame seeing as she was a new year baby,it would have been nice for her to see her last birthday when she would have been 69.
We are praying she will make it till then.

So I am keeping counting our blessings and all in prayers
Take care all

Hello everyone and a happy New year,
Thanks JA for the message from Fred ,hope his sil made it to her birthday.
Its such a shame when this occurs at any time but this time of year is really bad,I know because we lost my mum,my father in law , my cousins husband and my friends husband at this time of year,(not all in one year). You know they would want you to go on and have agood time, and you try ,but something holds you back..Time I find is a good healer.
Did not do much at all last night ,was going to have an early night but managed to stay up til 12.10.Off to see dad now.Speak to you soon.
Brenda.

badger Report 2 Jan 2008 08:20

Hi everyone, thanks for the good wishes ,which seemed to have worked.
Nora made it to her birthday okay, and seemed aware that a lot of the family were there at midnight, the nurses bringing in a few little glasses of wine ,and with the family members that were there ,wished her a happy birthday.
She hung on all day going on into the evening so we reckoned she was at the party she went to every birthdayat her local club, finishing at 11-30 pm.
She did know her sister was there yesterday[liz] responding to her voice ,but has now slipped into a coma.
We will be away up the hospital again shortly ,so i will keep you all posted.
Nora's two eldest daughters have been at her bedside since she was taken in ,not leaving her side together since then,it must be a comfort to her knowing she is not on her own ,which may be why she is hanging on,someone hasn't been to say goodby yet, possibly Margret who lives in Darlington, she is trying to get up to see her today.
Thanks everyone ,once again for the messages ,much appreciated by the whole family, her side room yesterday was filled with birthday cards,Liz and i adding a further one from all of you fantastic people, whom i am very proud to call friends.
See you Later,Fred.

badger Report 2 Jan 2008 10:57

I can now wish everyone a happy new year, our Nora passed away at 9-45 this morning after a peaceful night, reallising her last wish of seeing her birthday ,and more.
Her youngest son and two of her daughters were with her at the end ,so Nora knew she wasn't alone.
I firmly believe that she is now with her mum and dad again, they were always a very close family, and iam proud to have known all of them, god bless sis' in law ,you were one in a million.Fred.

Brenda

Brenda Report 2 Jan 2008 13:53

Fred my deepest sympathy to Liz and yourself and ofcourse Nora's family, its never a good time for any thing like this ,and at this time of year it all drags on because there are so many!! Which does not helped those bereved.
Hope everyone else is ok,back at work and everything back to normal now ,what ever that is
