Hi Everyone,
Brenda, I am a mind reader!, Fred taught me. I am in the Bendigo area of Victoria at the moment. I did stop in Melbourne for a couple of weeks, I was stuck in Sunshine without Transport. Had to wait there until my sea baggage arrived. drastically reduced, from what I took in to NZ.
Bought a Car, couldnt find a suitable Campervan. so I will look around then trade the car in. My Car a Ford Fairmont 4.7ltr is a Gas Guzzler. and I want to at least have LPG. Anyway Brenda nice to see your health is improving, and we can still keep that 'date' on Mornington Pier.

Gday Dorothy, (you're allowed to speak to me), you really do keep this thread alive. Gold Fossicking is only exciting when you find gold. its more enjoyable when you get a hand digging, my back wont stand much more of it. so I will be using other methods. there are also many Gemstone Fossickers on the Rivers (streams). and they sit around the BBQ at night and display their daily finds. but not locations, hehe.

Back later.

hi thanks bill for explaining the gold digging I understand it a little now, brenda glad you had a good day on saturday it is true you can always bump into people you know at the market, it even happened to me last year someone who did not know that I was over walked past me and said hello dorothy then turned in surprise and said what are you doing here, did most of my running around to-day I have an apt for the car onwednesday at 1-30. bryan is feeling better I think that all the children went to swimming lessons this evening. andrew phoned last night to see if we could do mothers day on friday as he has to leave for meetings on sunday (the actual date over here, plus it is his dad's birthday on saturday(10th) I think it is his 74th( he was 8yrs older than me) so I guess we will do dinner on friday. well time to catch up with corrie on line bye for now dorothy

badger Report 6 May 2008 19:07

Hiya Dorothy,we have had a lovely day weather wise, and me and Liz have been in the garden nearly all afternoon.
I managed to get the lawns scalped and the edges trimmed while we were waiting for the engineer to come and service the boiler.
He told us that they come again next year to do the last free service ,so i have twelve months to sort out aninsurance maitainance deal with homesure ,addding the boiler to the cover we already have ,the electric and the water supplies,as well as the sewage.about another twelve puonds a month i reckon.
While we were at Netto the wife found punnets of flowers,at £3 for two,so she went and bought £9 worth, looks as though we are going to be busy for a week putting them in lol..
The greenhouse is well away with trays of seeds in,and seedlings wanting pricked out,and i have five surviving rose cuttings to find a new home for out front in the rose bed.
We havea new visitor in the back garden,a young thrush ,who seems to be pretty tame and i named gordon ,after our prime minister lol, seing as it dosn't fly too well yet,and keeps tripping himself up ,i thought Gordon was an apt name ,but i should remember that the thrush is only a fledgling and knows nowt yet,not like the other Gordon ,who is plain useless he he.
We also found a few little frogs in the grass,so i had better check the lawns before i get the electric rake out to scarify the grass, don't want to hurt the wild life after all.
Must go now and get myself some tea.
With the weather so good ,i will be out early in the morning to get on with things while i can, sooo, people ,i will not be on the puter till the afternoon for a while.
See you all later, take care all,and ,be good .
Fred.

hi fred you have had a busy day the flowers that liz bought sound great it is still a bit too early for me to do the balcony as it goes down to about three degree's at night still, over here most planting does not start till may 24th weekend. I was in the local book store this pm and they had stuff set up for mothers day including some boxes of ecological plants and veg (tiny tomatoes) that you can grow in the house the topmatoes sounded interesting but the directions were inside the box so not sure how it works there were three trays for 20 dollars about ten pounds but I may go and splurge and try them out, for brenda if she is on line I bought the bew elizabeth george book it was on offer called careless in red and inspector linley story I hope it is better than the last one, it has cooled down this afternoon but did get the cat washed and cleaned inside, also put some stuff in the petrol tank that is supposed to get me through this test to-morrow I shall go for about an hours drive on thehighway before the test the mechanic says this should work, off to make my tea now bye fornow dorothy

Afternoon all,its been a lovelly day here agin,so like everyone else we have been outsde most of the time.John wants to move his shed so we have beeen cutting down shrubs and plants and putting some in tubs while he makes room.
Have been to my dads a lot lately as he needs more things doing,he will need some care from the district nurses they are providing pressure cushions etc and help with other stuff. The OT people are coming to see about grab rails for the stairs and bath /shower etc.
I am really seriously thinking about cutting my hours as the past few days have been a lot for me and I don't think I can do my normal hours and keep going over to dads.I only realised I had not been on here when I came in the room to put some toiletries away/

hi brenda glad to see you on line, but do try and get some rest, it must be hard work looking after your dad, I nursed both of my parents at my home and one does have to go get as much help as is available, daddy even was able to not go into hospital and died at home, I had a hospital bed and all the equipment I can get to make it easier but it is still hard work, and at the end of the day it is hard to become the caregiver whne no matter what age we are all you really want is to be daddy's little girl again for a moment in time, take care of yourself as the care giver gets lost in the scheme of things sometimes bye for now dorothy

Afternoon all,Brenda ,dorothy and all the opther people who are ,no doubt starting to look forward to the weekend.
Brenda, you take it easy lass ,i know it's easier said than done ,but the last thing you need is to land up back on the sick list with exhausion.before you are even fully fit.
I have had a nice afternoon, out in the garden, bluebells put in ,lawns re cut, scarified, fed ,and all the lights put back in place, finishing off by feeding and watering the two apple trees ,that are loaded in bud.,oh.and i fogot, putting in the rose bush that came from my sister in laws on her death in the new year.
I still have the cuttings left to see to but i have already sorted out where they will be going.
Liz and i ,plus the son.Martin are off to scotland on Saturday [Kirkaldy] to pick up a newer Astra than the old mk 3 he has at the moment so watch out McAnne ,comin 'through lol.
Think i will take my time coming back too,it's too long since iv'e been up there so ,i will make the most of it.
Off to make some tea now ,but ,i don't know what yet he he,maybe just poached egg on toast[loveeeerly] Fred.

Hi all,
Well we have had a scorcher here again today so have finished off the plants on my balcony and added some fresh herb plants: parsley (curly leaf), chives and thyme. Will add to these when and where I see healthy plants for sale. They take too long from seed for me!
Had thought maybe I'd go to the hospital with Johan tomorrow but have been feeling sick and dizzy so perhaps better not go as I have to look after him when he comes home for a few days.Well I always look after him but now he will need more help.
Our trip to England is progressing inasmuch as we have decided not to book all the hotels but take pot luck.
Mothers Day on Sunday so must think about cake baking on Saturday. Tomorrow have to do some shopping as my neighbour phoned from Hungary to ask if I would get her some fresh milk etc. as she is coming home this weekend.
When does life get easier?
See you all tomorrow?

goodmorning one and all sylvia it is good to see you back on line and I hope you both are feeling better son, fred have a good trip to scotland it sounds like fun, brenda thanks for the e-mail re neil's book I will reply to you later in the day, oh dear my car did not pass it's emmission test and has to have a cata litic converter replaced(fred I think I spelt it wrong), anyway I am going back to-day to see if they can fit a universal one (250 dollars) or if I have to have one made just for the type of car I have (475 dollars) can't get the sticker for the car till this is done, if it comes in under 450 dollars the goverment pays if it is over ie.475 you are on your own for the whole lot. with my luck I am not sure what will happen anyway I will let you all know what happens bye for now dorothy

Afternoon all, having now cleaned the car ,in and out, checked oil ,water, hydralic fluid[steering]and tyre pressures,we are now set for Scotland in the morning.
Dorothy,no way should you have to get any exhaust part MADE for your car, unless it's about twenty years old.
The makers of all the usual cars carry spares for each make and model,i smell a rat,a money making one,the spare part you need should be off the shelf, and at a price set by the car part manufacturers.
Were i you ,i would try another garage or two before you accept that quote, you may get it a little cheaper elsewhere.
I can accept the prices you quoted, but can't accept a garage tellinmg you they may have to make a cat, most garages and mot bays don't have the expertise to fit one properly ,never mind make one.
.I am being a lazy B***** this afternoon, sitting here with a glass of cold orange juice, cooling down, and waiting for the sun to start going to bed before i water the two lawns, lol.
What a funny lot we are in Britain, complain about the winter ,and the cold ,BUT ,as soon as the sun comes out ,we hunt the shade he he.
I reckon tomorrow morning ,we will go up the Jedbrough road to join the road to the forth bridge a mile short of the river,i don't fancy hitting Edinburgh at the start of a very busy rush hour on a Saturday morning ,
It was bad enough getting through Princess Street after dark in an evening after the rush hour finished, never mind the busiest day of the week.
Off to make some tea now, have a nice weekend all. Fred.

Hi Brenda ,and anyone else who happens by.
The trip went well as a day out ,but the car was a pill[useless.
It was described as mint [yeah right] could have been a polo with the hole it had under the wheelarch he he.
The spare tyre was ripped right open and there was a groove cut into the floor[ i reckon it had mounted a curb].
Enginewise ,it had been thrashed to hell ,leaving it flat, with a rumble coming from the final drive, and the supposed 63 thousand miles was more like 130,000,judging by the worn pedal rubbers.
To cap it all there was a smell of petrol in the radiator header tank, and the rocker box had sludge and white foam in it ,a result of a leaking head gasket [or worse],lol,
needless to say ,we came back empty handed.
The weather going up was fine and sunny, and we stopped at the redewood lake to take a couple of piccies, there being no breeze at all in the valley so the water was like a mirror, the pictures i took were fantastic,as was the one i took of Jedbrough Abbey.
On the way back the waether changes ,and how, lol,as we got to Kelso the heavens opened ,thunder lightning ,and heavy rain.
Time to go now and get some tea on,catch you later peeps .Fred.
