hi brenda gald to hear your dad is home I do hope that you can get all the help that you need I have found that you really have to be assertive or it becomes difficult also you have to make time for yourself , I remember when dad had an indwelling catheter and they wanted me to do the personal care around the cath I told them nurse or no nurse my dad had gone allhis life with me without me seeing his privates parts and I was not doing it, I got the help required my dad was very mid victorian. anyway do take care of yurself, nothing much new having a quite week-end the family are away the children at camp and I guess andrew and lindy are at the cottage, glad to see murray won in the u.s.a. they don't put on tv till midnight tennis is the last thing they put on always the other sports makes me mad but I followed it on the computor, bye for now dorothy

Hi all,
What bad news Brenda has, she has got her work cut out now. I have been watching this thread now and again but not writing, but here I am. Brenda we are all thinking of you my dear and hope you have the strength to help your father as you're not so good yourself yet.
I went into town today with the taxi and took my scootmobile. I had to go to the town hall for a new passport. I can pick up my passport next Wednesday. I found a lovely new shop with lots of odds and ends for making cards, so we all know what I'm going to do next Wednesday.
I went round the market but because of all the building going on around this area, things were so spread out and took me so long to find the stall I wanted to.
Fred, what a pity we didn't meet up when I visited England. How is your caravan. Is the caravan fit to travel to Holland?

Hello everyone, thank you all for the lovelly words of comfort and support ,they are appreciated.
dad was taken back into hospital early Wednesday morning as he could not settle at home and could not breathe,So my sister called the ambulance.
He is not very settled there and still having trouble ,they have him on oxygen and antibiotics, and a drip.
We have to wait till another doctor who deals with respiratory problems has seen him tomorrow, before we know what is causing the trouble.
We have the home care package coming together and will have a hospital bed with air mattress and oxygene inplace in a few days.sso he canbe more comfortable at home than before.
Thank you again for you suport.brenda

Hi Brenda, and uncle Tom Cobbly and all,
Glad to hear that you have some different help to deal with your father Brenda. Sounds quite emotional this breathing problem of your fathers Brenda.
This weather we're having at the moment will not help anybody with breathing problems either.
I didn't know what to do with myself this morning before the storm came as it was just stifling. My help is recovering from migraine and couldn't help me at the beginning of the week but came today to do just the necessary things, such as changing our beds and cleaning bathroom, toilet and vacuum cleaning the whole flat. She will be here again Monday so we can do extra jobs then.
I am hoping to go to the market tomorrow, will depend a lot on the weather. A shower of rain is ok, but a heavy storm, tht is a different kettle of fish!
Have a nice evening,
Sylvia xxx

Good morning one and all,we all seem to be having problems at the minute ,what with one thing and another.
Hope you manage to get sorted okay Brenda and that your poor Dad soon feels a lot better.
Poor old Liz collapsed while out shopping with me on Thursday ,and i had to rush her into hospital, turns out the reason the antibiotics were not doing any good is because the lady is immune to the ones the surgery were giving her.
By the time they found out and put her on a different sort ,it was too late and she had Bronchitis as well as the empysema.
She is a lot better now ,thank goodness but her gp won't be happy afer getting a rocket from the hospitals senior chest specialist, who said ,that the first repeat dose of antibiotics not working should have triggered a warning, and the doctor was very remiss to say the least
The hospital cleaners arn't very happy either ,as soon as they saw Liz in one of the beds, and knowing it was their ex supervisor lol
,Special care is taking place ,now as they know that liz acually trained their present boss before she retired, and that their boss will be visiting the wife frequently while she is on the ward.
I seem to be busier than ever ,doing all the odd jobs while the boss is out of the way ,all the spring cleaning is getting done, and the caravan is being sorted ready for it's trip to Sandy Bay.
Next spring is sorted too,the van will Be going to Eyemouth ,up past Berwick for eight weeks.starting the last week in March.
Nice to see Sylvia back, and hear that Edith is around again .
Must go now, things to do,and i have to go visit shortly, but the hospital reckon Liz will be out in a few days , see ya ,Fred.

badger Report 9 Aug 2008 07:35

Good morning troops, everyone enjoying their weekend?
It looks as though the boss will be home either today or tomorrow, the hospital being pretty pleased with her progress ,the only sticking spot may be ,the result of the exray which she is still waiting for.
I have been out back already feeding all the veggies with the hose attachment, and the greenhouse with watering cans, and have to say ,things look good, plenty of peppers forming \and green tom's galore.
The only downside is the grass and pine hedging ,it's growing far too fast and both need cutting before i go to see the missus this afternoon.
Made myself a very hot Madras last night for tea [comfort food , lol.]
Hissy has stuck to me like glue for the past three days ,so she is missing the boss as well i reckon.
Better get ready to start on the hedges now ,but should be back this evening .
Frerd.

Dorothy Report 9 Aug 2008 23:36

hi a quick update on the trip to pick up the children there was a horrific accident on the highway so we had a 2hr detour but managed to arrive at the camp only five minutes late, the children were muddy and wet there had been a torrential downpour but happy to see their parents and me, they had a good two weeks lots of stories to tell they headed to the cottage as the cousins from england are there for 2 more days and lindy wanted to visit with her sister, so I headed home good drive back even though it poured, hope everyone is having fun bye dorothy

John Report 10 Aug 2008 04:04

Hi everyone
Looking out the conservatory this morning (Sunday) the snow on the mountain is again way down low and it is cold. The Desert Road (SH1) in the centre of the North Island often closes when there is too much snow which has happened quite a lot recently.
Margaret the storm that hit the North Island seemed to bypass us - the Waikato being worst hit with the floods. I don't think the South Island escaped the stormy weather but I have heard the snow is particularly bad with Christchurch having snow. The odd sunny days we do have doesn't dry the ground.
It's 3pm time for coffee. John

hello everyone it is 4-30pm my time and 9-30 in england I have just spoken to brenda in the last half hour she is needless to say upset and sad but I was glad I was able to speak to her it is a year to-day since I arrived in england and during that time brenda and I were able to meet in person, she will be busy in the next few days arranging the funeral, I was surprised to hear that a lot of the paper work has to be done by the family, the funeral parlours over here do most of it for us but then again we bury in about three days, hope everyone is well bye for now dorothy
