Dorothy Report 20 Sep 2008 14:23

goodmorning brenda anne just phoned from bury and she was saying the weather was very nice, have fun washing the car I am watching the ryder cup and of course rooting for the european team the commentators are slanted very much on the americans side, I see that nick faldo is getting quite a roasting in the english papers , nothing much new at the moment laura had a good check up yesterday with the doctor and can do without the crutches so that is a good thing I think that I am going to have a quiet week-end bye for now dorothy

John Report 21 Sep 2008 06:01

Hi everyone
Haven't dropped by for well over a month. The seasons are changing and spring has sprung here in NZ. The weather is changeable high temperatures somedays and low the next. Today it is overcast but thankfully no rain. We are getting use to lighter mornings but next weekend the mornings will be a bit darker as daylight saving begins with the clocks moving forward an hour. Daylight saving period was extended last year by about three weeks.
I am not sport fan but I thought I would share what has got those avid sports fan excited over - the Warriors Rugby league team won another game in the knock-out round, the Silver Ferns netball team are tied at one all in their game against Aussie. Mind you I do like to see the rugby in the province where I live in on a winning streak.
Goodness its 5pm and I hear Gayle setting the table for tea, must go then. Till next time. John

Morning all, hope you get better very quickly John, spring should hopefully give you a lift to help the healing process.
Not feeling too good myself this morning ,having just been Hissied ,good style lol. There i was walkinh through the hall two slices of toast on a plate, thinking good thoughts ,when walking past the stairs ,the bag launched herself at me from five treads up,landing round my neck, like a stole.toast went one way and plate 'tother.
I am sitting here now still having palpitations lol,Hissy knows i am not pleased,'cause she shot off back upstairs and hid [little baggage] she will wait for her breakfast now lol
I spent an hour last night putting office 2007 onto the puter ,now all i need is the knowledge as to how to use it,i was getting a little fed up with people sending me messages and pictures that i couldn't open,so i hope this cures the problem
We will be going back up the van tomorrow afternoon, after i get the lawns done for the last time this season,he he ,i was too busy using the new toy yesterday to clean the car down, but hey, this thing will save me £10 a month, and it will be useful to do the van down twice a year as well.
I have just downloaded my piccies of Morpeth and some of the flood damage ,a couple of them show where the river breached the banks and covered the bottom end of the town, heck,i'm glad i wasnt there ,it must have been horrific.
My grandson want's to wear his gt grandads medals at his wedding ,so i am going to have to see if i can get copies of them for him, seeing as my mum,in a confused moment gave them to her grandson, instead of me.
I have earned three myself for service in the middle eat ,but if i want them ,i have to pay to obtain them [ruddy cheek],so i won't be bothering,,i can think of better things to spend £ 250 pounds on.
Nothing special for dinner today, chicken out of the freezer ,along with some stuffing ,so it all needs to go into the mic',no need even for the main oven[pity in a way,Fred likes his roasties lol]
We had two veggie pork pies for tea yesterday, made with quarn, and herbs ,they tasted very nice i must admit, but i wouldn't pay full price for them at £1-40,a little pricey methinks .
I have also shut down my lineone addy owing to the junk thats coming through on iot these days, and have opened another on tiscalli,so i will be sending the addy out to certain peeps over the next week.
That's it for now ,time to start on the veggies for dinner..
Have a nice day all.Fred.

Well we still have a bit of sunshine her but it isn't as warm as it was.
The new fire is installed and looks great, seems like it will be very cosy for us.
Still trying to book a holiday for the end of November, will keep you posted.
Have decided to do my christmas cakes again this year, used to do about 6 a year gave them away to people ,but stopped for a while, but thought I would have a go again.
On work at 4-8pm and need to get some house work done ,but must admit I am feeling a bit under the weather with a sore throat and tight chest!!!
Will have to have a hot toddy tonight ,purely medicinal !!!!

Dorothy Report 25 Sep 2008 14:27

hi brenda yes we all had a good visit yesterday and the surprise guest went over well, went to a small cafe we always used to go to had a good meal and laughed over all the crazy things we used to do and all agreed that none of our children would ever be told about it all , lets just say that in our 30's we had good harmless fun , the boy's are asleep as I type they have just had breakfast they are finally eating the new dried food and seem to be allright at the moment they do sleep much more than they did, and sasha the more independant one just stays glued to my side if I sit down not his usual behaviour, so I shall just take it one day at a time, hope you do get to bury if you are passing the cheese stall the lancashire with garlic was wonderful I did bring some bag with me it was vacum packed so I thought it would be allright, since then I have learned that maybe customs would have had a fit, oh well you live and learn nice fall day again to-day sunny and still warm rain in the forecast for the week-end, going down the highway yesterday the tree's are really startin to turn the colours around here in the fall are so beautifull mother nature at her best bye for now dorothy

Morning all ,here we are again ,home from the van and rarin'to go lol.
Liz is alrerady looking to go and buy some celery and bacon bits ,yes ,youve guessed it ,the tomato's are ready and it's soup time again.
Seems we are going to have lamb chops for tea which will go nicelly with the green beans [french] out of the garden, along with some cabbage and carrot, ditto.
Good old genes came up trumps again for me just after we got home ,Fred is a very happy Bunny ,having now got the barnes family link between chesham ,bucks and oz that i have been looking for [yippee],now all i need is the link to Canada too ,which i know is there.
I will have to do a little digging to find out which ship the family went out by,and exactly where they settled.he he ,that should keep me busy for a while on these coming dark evenings .
,off to hang out the washing now that the mist has finally lifted,
Hope everyone is starting to wind down for the weekend, fred has to dig the recipe out for the missus ,ready to start the christmas fare, starting with the Cake, which she usually does ,a nice ,well moist variety that i prefer [in small slices because of the old diabetes lol].
Fred.

goodmorning glad to see you back fred and busy as usual sounds like you will be having some good soups in the freezer, maybe you will get some nice weather for the fall we had a great week with sunshine but to-day it is dull and overcast and rain is on the way so I shall pop out to the shops soon and get the week-end paper and that sould be all this week-end. while I was pleased to hear about the new baby in the family I recieved one of those phone calls you don't like to get, another cousin in england phoned to say her grandaughter ged 29 had died she lived north of me in port elgin with her dad and two other sisters my cousin did not know the cause of death she was found in her bed, she had fought her way back from an alchol addiction and was doing well for the last three years back at college and seemed to be over the hump her dad is very upset needless to say. on to happier thoughts I hope that brenda made it to the market yesterday and had some fun hope you all have a good week-end bye for now dorothy

goodmorning glad to hear you made it to bury brenda and had a fun lunch with your friend, after raining all day yesterday to-day it is coolbut sunny and I can see for miles the hills that are usually far in the distance seem very close to-day a good day for a walk. I had dinner last evening with the grandchildren while their mom and dad had dinner out and some adult time, they lead such busy lives with the children jobs activities etc that once in a while they need to go out alone and catch up with each other, hockey season has started again for bryan and as usual he is excited about it, the three of them have started the swimming programs again, laura was to start tennis till she injured her knee and Ian is doing volleyball, he is not doing hockey this year he prefers to be in goal but at his age they rotate the position , andrew is also having a year off from being a trainer and just wants to be a dad and watch from the stands, and lindy plays ball hockey on a ladys team very busy people, plus when the snow comes it will be ski-ing and snow boarding gosh I am exhausted reading all this, for myself a good book and wtching from the stands does it for me well I think I shall pop off for a walk while it is so nice but first I will ring anne in bury and see what she is up to to-day bye for now dorothy

Have a couple of other thinks to look forward to before hand ,my sister 50th party and my friends daughters wedding.,so need new winter outfit for that.
But weight has to come off first.
Going to get a drink first so see you tomoorow. brenda

Dorothy Report 2 Oct 2008 14:38

hi brenda so you have booked a holiday where are you going I have to agree the weather is starting to turn cooler we have had rain and cool weather for the last day or so, to-day as I type it is gray and raining again so I was going to wash the chairs on the balcony but not to-day I guess the pepper plant is going mad full of flowers and small peppers not sure why. to-night is the debate in the U.S between the vice predidential candidates the tv. channels are full of it plus our leaders are debating as well but not much ionterest in that they are rather overdhadowed. to-morrow I can vote in the early vote and the place is just down the road from me so I shall pop on down, I get annoyed when people say they are not going to vote or can't be bothered just a pet peeve of mine, I read in the bury times that the house next to the one I grew up in is for sale for 190,000 pounds I could not believe it, while they are over a 100 yrs old and with big rooms it is still 2up and 2 down with additions I always go by when I am over and they look in good shape well looked after but 190,000 sounds a bit far fetched to me thats almost 400,000 dollars and that would buy a 4 bedroom detached over here ah well times do change see what happens when it rains I never know when to stop nattering bye for now dorothy

Hi all,
Where are you going on holiday Brenda?
My holiday is drawing near - November 20th to Spain.
Yesterday I went to my first craft class run by our local handwork shop. I enjoyed some new company.
I've persuaded Johan to come with me tomorrow to a recently opened large handicraft store.Who knows what he may be tempted to buy me?
well I've been a good girl, so I may get rewarded!!!!
Yesterday evening I had my granddaughter in for dinner. It's always a pleasure to have her, and have to look twice to see if it really was her. Her hair is now platignum blonde and she'd borrowed boy friend's coat, so was unrecognisable.
The girl with whom she shares the house is in Australia for six weeks, so she is a bit lonesome. The current boy friend lives so far away - and that costs money.
See you tomorrow
Sylvia xxx
