Great to see you drop in again Gwenda . . . hope next stop has a puter in the foyer! I remember last year when I was over in Canada, saying the same thing . . . I think I could live here ! A lass Paul was 'going out' with while he was over there for the year now lives in Ottawa - she has been out here three times on hols and so we were looked after well while we were there. She is a real history buff so was a great guide. You know, in the museum in Ottawa, are journals kept by Joodles (4th) and my (5th) gtgrandfather. There are also some of his journals out in the little museum at Niagra on the Lake, a beautiful little village/country town type of place. Didn't get near enough time there so I HAVE to go back ! And now Toronto . . . didn't actually spend much time in the city itself - but out in the country surrounding - and up to the Lakes . . . Aaauuuggghhhh Yes !! Hope little Wattie is behaving himself !!! Welcome Home Honey . . . The Wiz has returned a Wizard !!! Great to have you back mate. Better get orfa ere' and get something done - catchya later luv Laurie

Hi All, I'm home early for the afternoon, town is deserted because of the Henty Field Day being on (big Agricultural Exhibition held each year between here and Wagga), so they can do without me at work. Re the bouncing emails Mary, I think it has to be an ISP thing, DIY Jude is getting through to me. Isn't it weird!! I expect it will get sorted and I'm still looking forward to seeing the piccy's. I am making some investigations this end. Last night's wind left the car filthy this morning, and I'm feeling guilty about washing it! We must have had three specks of rain only and a bucket of dust. Vonny, your Mary Childers sounds so interesting, I hope Shaz can find out heaps about the house she worked in. Glad to hear everyone is taking care of their wellbeing - I got invited to do the 'poo' test last week (bowel cancer screen), now today in the mail I'm invited to go for the big squeeze too!!! Our public health dollars at work ( you can tell I'm over 50 by the kind of mail I get lol ! ) I had a highly successful day finding Aussie things to go to Japan - animal sticker books, Aussie fact book, (15%off at A & R too!) and cutest keyrings with kookaburra, platypus, koala, kangaroo, and a lovely Diary and calendar for next year. Missed Steve Irwins memorial this morning but I expect I'll tear up when I see it covered on the news tonight. Welcome back Tony, great to hear you got warp speed lol. ~~~ to all, Hz~~~~

Gwenda Report 20 Sep 2006 04:10

Hi all, It's 11.10 pm in Ottawa - came down earlier but there were already 2 peeps on putas so I had to go back to room via the laundry and pick up last load. We are off to Toronto tomorrow by train. Backpacking again - not sure about this - have so enjoyed our time here - so luxurious. Today we walked to the War Museum and spent about 3 hours there - didn't see it all or should I say didn't read it all - that's the trouble with museums - while they are interesting you only know that by reading everything or listening to the audios that are around. This afternoon - late I might add - we went for a cruise down the Rideau Canal - what a lovely spot and some nice housing along both sides. Could quite easily live here I think - would certainly get a chance to brush up on my high school french. Everything here comes in 2 languages so sometimes we pick up a brochure and think we have the wrong thing - turn it over and it's in English. Todays tour - there were only 6 of us on the 4.30 trip spoke English - well I didn't realise until after his French translation that he must have asked if he needed to speak French as well as English. We've had a couple of tours where everything has to be said twice and it gets a bit grating at times. We had a nice drop of rain overnight but it had stopped by the time we went out this morning. At least it wasn't humid with it. Not sure when I'll next get to chat so hope everyone stays fit and healthy until I get back on line. Tony - glad your puta's back in action - did you have withdrawal symptons? Trifley & Donna - hope you're both feeling okay Anna & Chris - glad you had a happy anniversary - forgot to mention it before. Mary - haven't checked emails but would love to see piccles of furniture & unit Tassie - hope Tamika is okay. I have had 2 migraines in my life - 1st one at 14 - next one at 34 - I'm expecting 3rd one in a couple of years. There is never any rhyme or reason with them either. Very inconvenient tho. Better go - not sure if someone is waiting to use puta - I had hoped that at this hour they would all be tucked up in bed but obviously not. Nitey nite from Ottawa Gwenda & Wattie

The sinus is a lot better today but I'm sooo dry and still a bit vague. I saw the start of the Steve Irwin service this morning and it is to be repeated this arvo at 4 for anyone who missed it. Very emotional, but just the right thing for the man that he was. Have a good day everyone Flakey

Crikey, I'm, glad I didn't miss it. It actually inspired me to write a letter to Sunrise. Hope you don't mind if I share it with you Dear Mel and Kochie, Wouldn't the world be a better place if we could all walk in Steve Irwin's boots for just one day. He is a man ( sorry but I still think he is with us ) who 'put's his money were is mouth is', yes he probably earned big, but for a purpose, not for million dollar wages, mansions and luxury cars, but for conservation. His passion. If we all walked in his boots, there would be no wars, the money would be spent on peace, not power. Large corporate bosses would care more for their workers and customers than a bigger bottom line. Religion would be to celebrate our world , our being. Maybe it isn't just the wild life we need to conserve, maybe it is also the Australian way of life, or the American way or the European way, where ever you may live. Perhaps it is time to look at the big picture, look to Steve's inspiration, and deal with the important issues of life. Our animals, our plants, our earth, and most importantly, our families. Lets do it now before it's too late, like Steve, lets start doing instead of talking about doing. A Sunrise family member Tassie, I hope Tamika is okay and on her way home for you to look after her. Donna, hope your results are good. Jood have a good day but please take some time to smell the flowers. Every one else have a great day. Isn't it great that we are now back to normal, or our normal. Luv SuzyQ

Yes, from me too Tassy, let us all know about Tamika. .. I can well imagine how worried you must be. Poor Jood, she is due out in 20 minutes, and doesn't know how to set up the b****** tv to record the Memorial Service. ... She who prides herself on knowing a lot about computers cannot even master recording .. Now you lot!!!!!!!!!!! - I could do it on the TV & Video before I moved up the mountains, but bought a user friendly video (ho ho) - and just can't do it - flicking from one remote to the other. ******** thing. .. I asked my daughter if she would record it, she said she'd try, if she could find a video :( I guess in a way it might be an idea that I don't watch it - as I will start bawling as soon as the ceremony starts, and then will have to apply makeup again (what little I wear). .. I really shouldn't be here :( As I said before, have a great day. Jood
