Sharron

Sharron Report 8 Dec 2008 11:01

Gail, finding things to keep him busy is wearing me out.It all has to be organized with military precision and he always can think of some dreadful thing that will happen.

Latest one,we have him going to the next village on the bus with his mate to deliver a letter to the doctor about a bus pass on Wednesday.

Last night he asked me how he might get on if it snowed. I told him that if it snowed or if there had been a tsunami I would not make him go.However,if a tsunami was promised for the time he would be there, then he was definitely going!

Trouble is, I have to keep finding more things for him to do. At this rate he will be seeing me off!

Bernie,if you are up and wandering at night quite often, how about getting a planosphere. If I can't sleep.apart from working out how long it would take to suffocate the other half with the pillow, I try to pick out the constellations.

I have a book about moths too, identifying them can while away several dragging hours and they are very beautiful.

Sorry,I don't do medical, but I do hope everybody is feeling as good as they can despite it being as grey outside as it can be.

Hi Bernie, sorry you can't sleep yet. I am sure the coffee is making you buzz too, so cutting back might be a big help, and even if it doesn't stop the high you are feeling when you want to sleep, avoiding kidney stones will be a big plus, they are awful, more painful than when I was in labour lol

Cut back on the coffee slowly tho or you could get withdrawal symptons if you drink a lot, ideally eventually, one or two cups a day is more than enough and never near bedtime, so maybe a morning one to start your day and a mid afternoon one to pick you up if you are flagging, or at worst, a small one after your evening meal if not too late. You might see a big difference.

Fruit teas are quite nice but I now drink more water, with just a small amount of high juice tupe squash in, I like the cranberry/raspberry/blueberry one but make it very weak. Might mean I am in the loo more often but better than kidney stones!

Bananas are good to eat before bed as they have something in them which can help you sleep.

Hope you feel sleepy soon,
Lizx

Hi Bernie, hope you are ok. Try not to drink so much coffee unless it is decaff sort as it will make you high too, and also too much coffee can cause kidney stones, as I know to my cost having had them a while back and very painfull they are too.
There is something called Barley cup which I think is better for you, and maybe eating some porridge can help you, as oats are very calming.
Will be about for another hour or so yet, lots of emails and pms etc to reply to and stuff to look up and the threads to catch up on.
Take care,
Hi to all my pals, might find time to add more later, hope you are nearly ready for bed now Mary or winding down at least. Hope you haven't had to work this evening.

Bernie have a good night's sleep and catch you tomorrow - we are in a different time zone so we are 5 hours behind the UK, we just had supper - homemade chili con carne and spuds, the house still smells so good - can you sniff it?
Because of the time difference there is usually someone around 24/7 if you need to talk later. Liz is usually wandering the halls at 4-5 AM.
take care,

Deanna I am so pleased you are back posting, you have done very well to be back as fast as you have done. I missed you so much.

Big welcome to Bernadette.

Good on you Ben, you got through this one on doubting and that is a huge step.

Sharron, getting your dad to do things and keeping him busy is the best thing you can do.

I love a challenge and later today I am going to do some painting. We have an archway at the front gate with wisteria growing on it. I painted some of it a couple of weeks ago and now need to finish it, so is nice for Christmas. OH is working all day today 6-12 shift (6 am to 12 pm, 18 hours) so will have to wait until he is home before climbing the ladder. I can still do some lower bits though.

Sorry have not been on a few days, my daughter turned up for the weekend with grandson, who is now five months old. We had a lovely weekend and so much fun. I do not think I have ever seen such a happy baby. Daughter travelled 600 klms to visit. She wanted baby to meet his great grandmother, as last time they were here was for my dad's funeral and great grandmother had pneumonia, so could not see bubs. They left to go home this morning (Monday) and the house feels so empty now.

Carole hope puter is fixed soon as we miss you.

I am thinking of you Y/Caz, I know it is difficult for you to type, I know you are looking in so extra love and hugs.

Hi to Jude as well, and Liz and Mary and Ann in glos and Kathy and anyone I have missed.

Love and hugs

Gail

Welcome Bernie ,lovely to see you are back Deanna and you too Ben.

I have been hit by a bug? food poisoning ? any way loo and I got very friendly last few days !!!Feeling better today but a bit weak .It's probably the shock of my son making me scrambled eggs on toast !! Didn't like to tell him the eggs were cold and the toast burnt .It's the thought that counts !!! If I can hold onto that I am cured

YCaz I hope they have your meds sorted and you are more pain free

Liz he could have built a house in the time it has taken to get the bathroom finished !!!Hope it won't be long now .

Carole hope you get your pc fixed soon .

Sharon your dad and my mum would have made a great pair !!!! I was never the florence nightingale type either .

Every one else I am thinking about you just don't have other's ability to remember all the names

Thank you Mary:o))
Such a crucial thing you said just now Mary and thats the fact that you can go through the front door because "there is no choice", you have to go to work!! Can you not say the same re your garden "you have to cut the shrubs back" or the weeds etc??

Bernie - hello again, bloomin well done to you:o)

l told you you would get suppor on here, they are a really great bunch all of them!! :o)

Just eaten a very large lamb roast, full to burst now so going to the pub:o))

Take care:o)

Hi Bernie -having a diagnosis is NOT a bad thing - it allows you to have understanding of the problem(s), and enables help to be given. Accept the help, we all need a crutch at some point, it's nothing to be ashamed of, rather it shows strength that you have recognized the issue and asked for help. It's a work in progress, we still have mood fluctuations, usually without the extremes. Being able to chat on here is a huge help.

Hi Bernie welcome, I think we've 'spoken' before, feel free to unload here, this is "the best kept secret" on GR - a thread where people truly care for each other. Good for you, going out for a drive, lovely idea, just take the first step out the door. When my depression is bad I never emerge into my garden, and those who know me, know how much I love to garden. I have gone for weeks at a time unable to open the back door. Strange that, at the same time, I can usually get out the front door to go to work, because there is no choice.
Just know you are safe here, it helps a lot to be able to unload ones thoughts, without judgement.

And Jude - excellent support you've given Bernie - hugs to you too.

Hi

I am better now. Thomas is definately a genetic ancestor.

I quite often have doubts of things to do with genealogy which just proves that they are just doubts.

When I found my gggggrandfather William Thomas Coombs in the 1851 census aged 22, printer, born London at 14 Dacre Street, Westminster, I was ecstatic. This was way before the 1851 index was out. The details matched but I still kept doubting and wondering if there were two William Coombs aged 22 in London both printers but I couldnt find any trace of another so the one in Westminster is my William. Silly to doubt but that is OCD. It can make me think up weird things such as that.
