Hello Everybody!
Apologies for not popping in for a while. 2 factors are responsible:
* VERY busy here at home recently AND........
* You ladies now have me addicted to digistamps and digikits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been have so much fun and have been creating new toppers for cards etc. Now, who is going to put their hand up to being responsible for sending me down this route???!!
I assume those of you who use this type of crafting, are familiar with Daisy Trail. If not, you might like to get onto the site, as they currently have a sale on (fatal here - so many lovely kits).
Hope all are well. Will return soon :-) :-D

Well I'm hooked on CDs. Defo not into digis so you can't blame me lol xx I've been dappling in decoupage lately. I went to a workshop to get the basics and got hooked. So now lots of wooden objects are in various states of sanding and painting. It takes a while to get the surface prepared for the decoupage. I'm not using paper napkins for this I bought some....I think it's called...chinese paper.....very fine and easier to use than napkins. Does anyone else dabble in decoupage? I would love to swap ideas.

Win, I have done some decoupage. on cupboards and even on glass doors, now my decoupage is on cards and some white paper gift bags....Years ago I used to do napkins onto candles , hands are not steady enough these days :-( :-( :-( :-(

I also used to Tatelage transfers (dont think I spelt that right) it is rubbing designs onto anything , although I did it on scrapbooks, glass especially doors we have clear glass doors so they were decorated , I do wish I could still get them.....still one mever knows

It's Tatouage Jean and I found a store when I googled it. Very expensive tho. Think it was an American site. Thanks for the info. Interesting as I've been looking for Words or Phrases This site has some but as I say quite expensive. Wynn xx

Win - I too have tried decoupage, both on items eg a tray, boxes etc. I completed a "hatbox" for a Memory Box for my cousin's wedding, some years ago. If I can locate photo, I'll try & post it. I now only decoupage on cards - in fact have completed 2 poinsettia images this morning. I am currently using up items which I have had for a very long time. I thought that I would have a good clean out.
I used to used paper napkins, but these days there are so many specialist papers available, which we could never access before. When I first started cardmaking in 1993, so little was available over here. When I look now, it just amazes me - the choice is sometimes too much!! :-D
I must confess that tatouage is completely new to me, so I shall be Googling shortly!
Hope all of you are well. Anne - enjoy your time away! It's just started to rain here :-(
Ann xx

Hi all, just to say we got home at 10.45 last night, roads very busy but thankfully no rain. Tired today but lots to do before the weekend. First wash load in. Holiday was good, liked madeira a lot and ,despite all the eating only put on a pound (all those hills I guess).

Airport was horrific due to early morning winds that meant some couldn't land. several flights, including all easy Jet flights were cancelled. we had to wait in the downstairs part, couldn't go to departures/security until our flight landed which was difficult, hundreds of people and not able to get food, which daughter needed being diabetic2. Luckily she always carried emergency food. Jet2, we couldn't fault, aborted first landing so was a bit late landing but took off more or less on time and landed Manchester on time. Now gearing up for the next one, better get some toast (no cooked breakie this morning!). :-D :-D

So pleased you enjoyed Madeira in spite of the hills lol. Yes there are a lot of them. Did you try the toboggan ride ......great fun.....mind don't think I'd be brave enough to do it now lol!! Your flight back sounds horrendous and I imagine quite scary. Good job you had emergency food for your daughter.

Don't envy you all that washing either. Great memories!!!
Wynn xx

AnninGlos Report 3 May 2016 11:52

No we didn't go on the toboggans but had fun watching them (all those fit your men!!)

By the end of the two weeks we were walking much faster up the hills and not panting quite so much. I was pleased to only put a pound on though as we were eating much more than we do at home.

The actual flight home was fine a bit bumpy landing at Manchester, in fact we really hit down hard, but it was the poorly managed airport in Madeira thatw as the problem. They often have trouble with planes not being able to land/landing late because they overshoot because of the high winds etc so they are aware they can have problems. So why can't they organise to provide more seating for p[eople stuck downstairs and more food places. Just one cafe and one girl serving!

I felt really sorry for people off the easyjet flights who wer queuing at customer services, the queue just didn't move, hundreds of people and two on the desk.

I can't believe this thread has not been added to since May. Where are all the crafters now I wonder?

I have just had a go for the first time at a 'pop up box' card. Not sure I will be making any more, so fiddly. And the inserts don't want to stick. I know Jo has made them but has anyone else had a go?

TW. who used to be on GR has had two jewellery books published so very well done to her. (She also used to be in the writing group.

Hi Ann I know it's been an age hasn't it. Where do the days go!!! I make 'Pop up box' cards quite a lot. I love making them but they do take time. I've recently started making 'Pop and Twist' cards .....now they are fiddley. But I love a challenge!!!
By the way I use hi tac red tape for my little mechanisms in the pop up boxes.....hope this helps. If after sticking one flatten it as if for posting. Then you should get it straight and sticking. Hope you can understand.....not good trying to explain in words.
We've had lots of visitors this Summer so a lot of my time has been entertaining holiday makers. We've had a very long season here in Cyprus and the weather is still fab!!!
Hope everyone is well.
Speak again. Hopefully not too long next time. Luv Wynn xxx

AnninGlos Report 8 Nov 2016 15:54

Thanks Wyn, some helpful advice there but not sure what Hi tack red tape is, do you get it from uk? When I have finished my cards I might make another one. Very very cold here today, winter has arrived, hard frost last night and a bitter feel outside. Warm in the house though so ok here.

Do stay in touch I like to hear what you are making.

JustJean Report 10 Nov 2016 08:07

Hi win, I use the red tape quite a lot , Ann if you have a look on e-bay for red glue tape there are loads of offers, the tape ie exra sicky so is useful fo making items stick fast,
I got a loads off create ncraft so I would think the craft shops you go to will stock it..
or use a glue gun, that is very good and quick.

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 10 Nov 2016 09:38

Thanks Jean I will have a look. The only craft shop I go to these days is Hobbycraft and they don't seem to stock as much for papercrafts these days, it is more knitting, crochet and jewellery making.

JustJean Report 8 Jan 2017 21:34

Thought I would bump up this thread, now I am back on line still busy doing the cards ,although the gift bags I decorated went very well so I have been asked to do some some more all the christmas ones went and so I am doing spring and summer ones...I made note book and pen sets also, they seemed popular.....since I had so much card stock given me I make my own card blanks, time consuming but I now only have to buy envelopes and cello bags.....happy crafting.love jean

AnninGlos Report 8 Jan 2017 21:56

Thanks for rescuing us. Gosh you have been busy, did you decorate the pens as well as the note books and just decorate the front of the notebooks? Then how are they put together for selling? And do you actually make the gift bags or decorate bought plain ones?
