If you haven't already, order a copy of his service records from the MOD. Unless he or his widow can sign the form, they will cost £30 and take a number of months to arrive

I've a National Service RAF record c1948. To be honest, if the person hadn't been around to interpret them, most of the posting details would have been unintelligible. Hopefully the WW2 ones are easier to understand.

British Legion or RAFA (Royal Air Force Association) but the people who served with William Pratt Collier will be late 80s or in their 90s.

I doubt whether someone would have talked to relatives in great enough detail to name names and often enough for relatives to remember.

You only give areas not names of RAF stations. There were lots of stations in those areas during the war. You have very vague information perhaps it would be a better idea to find out more detail.
