It's probably worth googling to see what you can find eg:

http://www.angloboerwar.com/unit-information/imperial-units/573-middlesex-regiment

Your grandfather's record showed that he had earned both the Queen's medal and the King's medal with clasps , and in brackets over that it had (six), which I assume means the total number of clasps, each of which denotes a particular action or campaign in the war. The record did not name which clasps he had.

Hi Anthony, have found that Ancestry has King's and Queen's South Africa medal indexes on their site.

Your grandfather on his war record as posted on your other thread, was awarded both, with a total of six clasps.

The image of the record (which I will pm to you) shows his clasps as:

Cape Colony
Orange Free State
Transvaal
Tugela Heights
Relief of Ladysmith
Laing's Nek

As far as I can see, all six clasps relate to the Queen's medal , but you can google for yourself for further information eg

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen%27s_South_Africa_Medal

You had previously confirmed this man's record was your grandfather's:

Name: J Leary
Campaign or Service: South Africa - Second Boer War
Service Date: 1899-1902
Service Location: South Africa
Regiment or Unit Name: 2nd Battalion Middlesex Regimant<<<<
Regimental Number: 5369<<<<<<

As I said, will pm the image to you .

EDIT: You can probably google the campaigns/battles the clasps are associated with, to find out more about what happened at each event, and what your grandfather may have experienced.

:-)Hello again Kucinta.
That Is fantastic Information . What wonderful Research .
I would not have known all of this without your Excellent help.
And Its great news about my Grandfathers medal awards , and surprisingly the Clasps.
The first Information I was given by my Aunt Bridget . She asked me to trace her Fathers Boer war and WW1 Army record , History . She had lived In Dublin Ireland all her life . And as my Family had emigrated to England In the nineteen fifties I was nearer to the source . Over 35 years I have gathered more and more of my Ancestry . And mostly of all the very good people On this Forum . Which I am very grateful to you all .
Anthony Leary.
