Very bad here 47.9 in the city.Fires everywhere some threatening Melbourne's outer suburbs,main highways out of the suburbs burning on both sides.Young son and girlfriend preparing to evacuate nearby country town.Cool change expected soon but winds will turn fires closer .

You must be so so worried. I've just left a message for Mick in the bush over on Gen, they'd had an emergency meeting as he and his were in direct line of the bush fires. His latest update says the fire had turned direction yet my prayers are with everyone.

Makes you think, count your blessings ...

I do so hope your son and his girlfriend are safe, everyone too.

The snow's vanished here, most of the world is asleep still, have just looked out of the window ... tis still fairly dark, just the remnants of sleet on top of green wheelie bins, elsewhere it seems clear.

My son (19) was due to leave home Tuesday, weather conditions were against him, should be leaving today ... still waiting for him to tell us what time.

Is Mick in New South Wales or South Australia ?

Not sure Daphne, he speaks of Longwarry, Pakenham and Warragul.

Not sure if that helps, all I really know is that he out in the bush.

Oh Daphne I do hope your son and Girlfriend are OK. I know what it's like to be evacuated because of fires it is scary stuff. Please let us now how he goes will you, I pray the fire does not get to where they are.
Wow 47.9 in the City, imagine what it's like in the Outer area's it will be over 50 i would imagine. There sure is something wrong with the world with temperatures like that.
It's quite nice here today but I believe from Monday onwards we are in for some of that hot weather too. I am not looking forward to it I can tell you.
We saw a bush fire today when we were out to lunch. Daphne you would remember where Yanchep is? A couple of weeks a go there was a huge fire that burnt a lot of the park. We went there for lunch today and got the shock of our lives a lot of the park has been burnt and lots of Wildlife killed.
We noticed lots of Kangaroo's staying close to the lake which is most unusual at that time of day. They only go to the lake at dusk and dawn. Probably so frightend by the recent fire they are staying near water.
I took some great Pics of them today I got within about 6 feet from one of them. He was a big Boomer too.

Daphne Mick is in NSW

He is in Victoria like us. He is about 60 km south of Melbourne.My son is 80km east, other son 45km east,we are 20 minutes east of the CBD,Temp has suddenly dropped to 26 and young son is getting light rain which should help.

That's great news Daphne the drop in temp will help as well as the rain

Tis frightening isn't it ... goodness me, temps of 50, I can't even begin to imagine what it is like.

May I see the piccies of your kangaroos at some point, am sad though about the park being burnt. xxx

He may be Jackie, I raced across to read some of the place names, are there bush fires in different places perhaps?
