He swam for Australia he was one of the Relay team we had that was really good
He ended up being a really naughty boy he got sacked from the team for drinking. He did a bit of Commentary for a while and was also in a Band here in Perth. Not sure where he is now. His Mum died of Cancer at an early age just before he won his Gold Medal in 1980
If you read his biograpy it says he was taught swimming because of nearly drowning in an accident when he was young. That's not entirelly true. My son was playing with him at the time and they were playing near a stream Neil fell in and started crying and his Dad said right your going to learn to swim. He certainly was not drownding
