The new GRO Index is fantastic ........... they have digitised their records, and show the mmn for children born 1837 to 1915/16 |

Sylvia, you are amazing. It definitely looks like them and I suppose Davies and Bavis could look or sound the same. Jane would be my grandmother, Kate would be Catherine, her sister. Interesting that Catherine was born in Ashton-under-Lyne and yes, that birth for Catherine is correct - Louisa's maiden name was Dennett. |

I THINK this is them, even though the image does seem to be Davies ........... the forenames all fit :-D |

Sorry Sylvia, only just seen your second note. I had no idea there were 10 children, I only knew about two, plus two step-children (Jane and her sister, Catherine). I know they had a son, Frances, who died. |

Thanks Sylvia. Yes that's them. Thomas died in 1936 and Louisa went on to find a third husband. |

I tend to agree with you Sylvia - suppose I'll have to send for that certificate though, to make sure. |

The two names on the birth record reflect the mother's maiden name so |

and yes, the only way to be sure that you have the right death is to send for the death certificate. |
