My mum's sister married a Sidney Albert Bishop, very little is known about him said that he was brought up in a children's home in London

1939 he says his date of birth is 2 Oct 1911,
I sent for a birth certificate for a Sidney Albert Bishop born Fulham 1911 but date of birth says 6th November 1911 mother Ada Elizabeth fox,

Is it a coincidence that my grandmother Sarah Elizabet Barton who came from Fulham married my grandfather William Cooper who came from Oxfordshire they moved to a small village a few years after they were married Strange Sidney ended up there also, can not find any links between them. can not find any children's homes record, can any one add any thing.

Maybe he got the year wrong on the 1939 register, the one posted by Prickles appears to be illegitimate as no mmn:

Where did you get his middle name please? He has given an initial when he married or on the 1939 register.

He married two of my mums sisters first one Florence Cooper she died he then married Gladys Buckingha my mums half sister, he died in 1966 in Oxfordshire. He was strange private man I think he would have put father unknown, His children have no records

Got his middle name from my cousin his daughter she was 4 when he died and 15 when her mother died.

This could be the illegitimate Sidney born in Holborn in 1910.

the probate details are in 1967, page 7 of the results which come up on the website posted by Flip.

Thanks probate records on ancestry only go up to 1966 that is why I could find them on there.

Sorry, I'd forgotten Ancestry only went up to 1966 as I now use the link I posted.

It looks likely (well in my opinion) that he got his birth year wrong on the 1939 register, if born 2 Oct he would have been 6 months old when the 1911 census was conducted on 2 April - which is what is declared on the census posted by Argyllgran.

Where he was living on the 1911 census is not exactly a "children's home", but the occupation of the wife on that census is foster mother and that she had 3 young nurse children (or foster children) could indicate a life in care. It could be that he moved on to a children's home when old enough.

I'd be tempted to buy the BC, although he may not have known his exact DOB for the 1939 register, so it may not confirm anything. Maybe worth checking the workhouse records for the area at the time of his birth?

Would love some answers about him for my cousin she found out by accident when as child how he died, she can not understand some one taking their own life leaving behind a family he had no money worry's owned his own home,

Just received the birth certificate for Sidney Albert Bishop date of birth 2 Oct 1910

born at the city of London lying in hospital no father mother Emily Rebecca Bishop sewing machinist address 90 Broad lane Tottenham .

That could be him with that family in 1911, had a quick look found Emily Bishop on a couple of census will do more research later just thought I would let you know.
