Hi Prickles - I was referring to the closed record you posted at 11:10. I believe Ian's finding her in 1939 was the starting point for his research?

And I discounted the Lichfield birth too. It appears that Betty married Bronislaw Gidziewicz in 1949.

So no help there.

Just a point though- the 1939 register does not state relationship- so Betty could have been a daughter, niece, grandchild or other.

Wonder who the closed record is in 1939? Could it be another Wain birth - there's this one in the same reg district as the one posted by AustinQ as a potential for Betty:

flip, betty is listed on find my past in 1939 as born in 1929 as betty waine/potter so I took it as she m john a potter in Bromsgrove in 1979, to me it fits

Ian, how have you got back to Betty & John and know you have the correct one in 1939? It makes her 50 when they married, if you have the right one.

Gertrude would have been 42 years old when Betty was born.......so i doubt she is the daughter of John and Gertrude.

Gertrude Mary died 22/8/1969 according to probate granted in 1970. Her address was 119 Finstall Road, Bromsgrove, a widow. Estate valued at £1006.

Birth date given matches 1939 details.

I wonder if Betty was the illegitimate daughter of one of the daughters (Gertrude or Kathleen)? possibly under Wain?
