Hi

If anyone has ancestors around the Sedbergh, area Brigham Young University have just put on line the complete transcribed register (fully searchable) of marriages and burials. A couple of years ago I went to the Kendal Record Office and searched them there and there is a separate book for baptisms, but this is not as yet on line.

The registers go from 1594 to 1800, so very useful to anyone searching that area.

I was a bit confused abt why she'ld be looking in Kendal, but I now find Cumbria includes a small part of the former West Riding of Yorkshire around Sedbergh. (The WRY parishes of Howgill, Sedburgh, Debt and Garsfield formed the old Sedbergh Rego D, whose registers are now in Kendal.)

I have just stumbled across the above postings and am amazed that I missed such good tips previously. I always used to try to trick of enteringXX parish record on line, but early dimentia after an accident punched a few holes in my memory. Thankyou all so very much. :-)
