Hi trying to trace records on my grandads family. His name was Frederick G Cubitt on his death certificate it has him as Frederick Barratt Cubitt. I am trying to trace either side of his family. Believe his mother was called Agnes do not know maiden name and dont know his fathers name. He was born 1913 he married a Annie Cundiff, I have found there marriage certificate. I am really stuck. Believe he was born in Either Colne or Bacup. Any help greatly appreciated. |

You need to buy some marriage and birth certificates to confirm what has been found. |

This pension record on Ancestery lists Fred (born Accrington) and his wife Agnes - formerly Seager as having a child Fred born on 8 October 1913. |

Fred above appears to have died in 1918. Maybe this marriage could explain where the middle name of Barrett came from. |

Hi All. Thank you so much for your help. I have delved into this side of my family and asked questions of relatives and believe that the Fred Cubitt & Agnes Seager found are my Great Grandparents (99.9%) sure. I was wondering if anyone could give me advice, at the moment I am a standard member, what is the difference between standard and platinum I am thinking of upgrading. Vanessa :-) |

I am not platinum - I use ancestry, and fmp for 1911. |

I thought ancestry was quite expensive? How good is it? and how easy are the searches? |

I use Ancestry and Find My Past as well . I would also recommend a 14 day trial on Ancestry. It is easy to use, but I always use - the old search - rather than the new search facility on the site. There is an option on the search page |

Hi All thanks for all info Fred Cubitt born 1913 was my grandfather. His father is the Fred in army records and Stephen was my Great Great grandfather. I have all birth Certs for these and marriage certs, I think maybe my tree is correct and maybe the other person has got it a little wrong somewhere. I do not think contacting this person is a good idea as they might not like to be told there tree is wrong. Never mind I will carry on researching as I have been doing. :-D |

Hi Ann thank you for info. Stephen Cubitt is my Great Great Grandfather, Fred is my Great Grandfather and Fred son was called Frederick he was my grandfather. I have birth certs for all the above three and marriage certs also. I think the other person had a problem with Stephens mother maiden name for some reason. But I have the confirmation of Stephens mother & father, I think were it gets confusing is Stephens father William was married twice. Thanks once again for help. Vanessa |
